I remember their last concert at Victoria Hall Saltaire all those years ago. Barbara Dickson turned up and was given a slot, to quote Mike Harding 'cos shes come a long way to sing'. Quality group, quality night.
am looking for a song called "the donibrstle mine disaster" by swan arcade, my family was involved in the doomed rescue attempt where th rescuers were trapped and died.can anyone help me please.
I have a recording from the BBC of Swan Arcade singing at Whitby Festival, some great between song banter, I have digitised it but am not sure how to post it, any tips
This song originates in the Appalachian mountains of America. Many of the settlers were of lowland Scots and English borderers stock. I think that, in part, is why a group from the north of England could produce such a vital version of this song.
Dave and Heather (and Jim) were wonderful singers. Hope your Mum is well and thank her from me for some great music and happy memories of hearing them in Bradford and Leeds.
Great track and excellent group. I used to have a recording of them singing at the Cambridge folk festival (I don't think I have it any more - sadly). They also did a beautiful version of "Peat Bog Soldiers". Thanks for posting this.

Anybody got a recording of Peat Bog Soldiers or battle of Sowerby bridge - two of their finest songs, amongst many
