@MsVictorieh well you are propably right about that....lets say that Furbolgs would have been new Alliance race and Nagas for Horde, and the expansion would have taken place somewhere else than Pandaria (for example Draenei original homeworld of Argus), this kind of shitstorm would have never occured....sure some people would have complained, as they always do, but most would have been happy with that kind fo expansion.

@marcuspernilsson Tell me, how the HELL im supposed to just skip MoP, from level 85 to 90, without going to Pandaria....grind level 85 mobs?....and I would be forced to buy MoP anyway, because every new WoW expansion requires that you have ALL the previous expansions as well. So no, for me WoW ended the moment they announced MoP....If I could just skip MoP easy as that, I would, but it's not possible, thus I just as quick lost all my interest to WoW again.

I am no fanboy, I casually play this game but honestly you guys just whined because it just has panda's, and probably there aren't really any other big baddies to be named that need to die.
I don't think it's coincedence that most people who dislike the next exp are people that are around their 30's or more.
So what left for us is either to move to another mmorpg or try to see wow from a total different angle. We have to take it for granted that wow will never bring us back the feelings we had when we start playing it, and i dont think any other game of the same genre will.

I returned back to WoW after 4 year break last fall, when Blizz made the game free2play till level 20, and I really "fell in love" with it again....but with this expansion Blizz made the decision easy for me to move to SWTOR
Many people (including me) start playing wow in younger ages, we got older and we wanted the game to evolve with us. This will be amazing for us but might not be so amazing for the profits of the company. Either we like it or not wow customer base was and will always be ages 14-24. So most of the things that change in the game change towards that age target group.(cont)

2nd, idk if any of you were familiar with ff series, but there was a area i believe it was in ff9 where the worse gear/wep u had, the better damage u did to the enemy. i would find that interesting if blizz could mix that into wow. Again this is just imo.
WoW dropped off bigtime imo when they made every toons power based off the top exp lvl from like wotlk and cata. aka, back in vanilla or bc u could hit a guy well say as a lvl 70 for like 2k. Now times and patches that same lvl toon will hit for like 10k. Would be interesting for blizz if they did 2 things. 1. have cap checkpoints at certain lvls. again ill use lvl 70ex. you must complete the raids at that lvl b4 u can move on to 71. and it must done in a grp of ppls that are that lvl only.

Nobody I know is excited about this expansion, and that's probably due to it embarrassing everyone 25 or older. The sheer ferocity of the WoW fanboys is unreal, and I think it is fueled by insecurity and blind denial. I admire that you've kept up on responses, and reciprocate against vehement fanboys with poise. They won't listen to reason now, but history will remember this expansion as a turning point.

@Yellowtoxin In my opinion (and many others) Pandarens and their chinese landscape and culture just doesnt fit into Warcraft, it's simple as that. When I look at that trailer and early gameplay, for me it indeed feels like im watching totally different game than Warcraft....

For me it would have been ok if Pandarens were only SMALL part of the expansion, like if they had 2 low level starting areas, just like every other "new" race, and the rest of the expansion would have taken place somwhere else entirely.
@Balnazzardi Well when TBC hit, you had the Dreanei to play (of course) and the blood elves,and the Outland, which is the battered remains of the planet Draenor. (Of course,home world of the Orcs and the last refuge of the Eredar,so highly populated and influenced by the Draenei.) On top of that, all the instances and quests that relate to the Draenei do pretty much seal the deal. Tbc IS all about the Draenei and the blood elves rising, and conquering the burning legion & Illidan...
@Balnazzardi So, yeah, The Draenei DO have an entire expansion built around them, in the same way Pandaren will have. I know what you're saying, from what we've seen, it's not as dark or serious as Classic stuff, but you should at least give it a chance, dude. As long as they have a good story and a good antagonist, I'm happy. I'm not judging it before I can play it and see for myself. Blizz never let me down before.

@maisboyfriend Back then in Warcraft III, they were only A SMALL part of the game...really Chen Stormstout said like only few words during that short orc/horde campaing of Frozen Throne, basicly he was just another hero unit, and that didnt bother me as much, especially when the orc/horde campangaing was sort of "bonus" campaing, that wasnt really part of the main events of the game.

@Balnazzardi No, you don't know what you're talking about. In Warcraft III, every single race got its own page in terms of lore in the handbook. Pandaren got a full page on them, just a big as Orcs, Undead, ETC. If they were a joke, they would not have added them into the expansive lore in 3. But they did. There's really NO excuse for disliking them other than a shitty movie that came out AFTER they were put in.

@artsysimone Also, majority of the WoW community actually asked for Pandaren to become a playable race, or to at least have an appearance in the game since Vanilla. I'm not sure if you've been playing that long, or if your opinion was that of a lot of players but from the mouth of Chris Metzen himself they obviously had a huge outcry for them to do this from the beginning. So maybe you'll quit over this, but it'll take a lot more than a new storyline and artwork to cause your "mass exodus".

@Balnazzardi But that still doesn't disregard the fact that they were officially put into the lore during WCIII, officially put along side other lore races like Orcs and Taurens, with a page JUST as long as them, etc. Poor outcry's from youtube has no real backing as to what people want for this game. There is no legit factual reason to be upset other than opinionated reasons such as "I don't like chinese art, Panda's are not my favorite animal, etc." Really.
@maisboyfriend I played WoW from 2006-2011, so I think 5 years of solid playing can be considered "that long." My opinion is my own and not "that of a lot of players" - a lot of people just happen to share my opinion. As for whether the mass exodus of fans will occur, I guess we'll see when Blizzard's Q4 2011 report comes out.

not sure if this is true, but the development board did have some ideas for MoP, along with other ideas for the next expansion, it is rumored they pick Mists of Pandaria, cuz for one, their was a large fan base who wanted them in the game(They were in Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne), and someone else was thinking of using a name like Pandaria so blizzard rushed to get the copyright for the name. I loved the Pandaren drunken brawlers in Warcraft 3, best neutral hero ever.

wow is the best mmo ever cause nothing better came out so far, this doesn't mean that the game ITS not RIDICOLOUS, and its nothing but a farm2play right now, it lose all of a mmorpg, i played wow for a long time since tbc, but i quitted cause its not an rpg anymore.... its not immersive and its pretty boring, nothing more than a nerdrage game kids right now, so they got enough money from me. fuck blizz, SWTOR will send wow 3 feet under.

For those of us who never played the RTS games before the MMO was released we never even heard of pandas in wow, except as a non-combat pet. I've played for four years and been disappointed in the shift to a more 'normalized' play experience so no one feels left behind or excluded. It isn't just about MoP it's about the entire WoW experience feeling like it's gone from badass content you had to actually work at to kiddy content handed to you on a peanut oil-stained, chinese take-out menu.
like Kung Fu Panda Online, not Warcraft....sure you are right that we should give Blizzard chance to show some more of it and lot can change until the final product, but that trailer, how it looks, sounds and feels like was NOTHING like the Warcraft we all "haters of MoP" love.
This isn't a rip off of Kung Fu Panda. It's the other way around. The Pandaren and their asian culture have been around long since Kung Fu Panda was released. Besides, it's just a race, it's not like you have to be the Pandaren, just pick something else. They have the Monk class and spells are learned automatically, no need to go to a trainer either.
I'm saying give it a chance before actually forming an opinion on i.t
@Yabuturtle The problem is that the WHOLE damn expansion is built around them, their Chinese culture, landscape and architecture....if Pandarians had been only a small part of this expansion,like any other new race to WoW, with thier own small-level starting areas, and the rest of the expansion would have taken place elsewhere, THAT would have been ok with me..but to build entire expansion around them is just too much...and I know that very well, but it doesnt change the fact that it still feels
@Balnazzardi I do find it strange that this race pretty much has their own land. If they had to do that, they actually should have done that with the Dranei and have an entire planet instead, their home planet Argus. So you'd have 3 different worlds, Azeroth, Outland, and Argus. Still I know a lot is built around them but do not be hasty. Ironically the Pandaren race might be the best despite looking silly. I'm still trying it out anyway. The only way to be sure is to try it.
@Yabuturtle Well you are right about that, If I could get to try this for free, I would let Blizzard a chance to convince me otherwise,but I am not going to pay for it....
But since I was already willing to give SWTOR a chance and there are LOTS of other great games from recent years that I still havent got time to play, WoW is not the only choice for me, despite that I immensly enjoyed to play post-Cataclysm WoW.
@Balnazzardi That is true. If they have a free trial, that would be most helpful. Play whatever games you feel will be most enjoyable. The other games sound interesting as well. Out of curiosity which race would you have preferred over the Pandaren? I'd go for the Naga.
@Yabuturtle Naga would have been ok with me as well...though they would have to join the horde, there is NO WAY they would get along with Night Elves...and I dont know what new race Alliance would have gotten then...
You know I would have actually prefered if the Pandarians were added to Alliance side on Burning Crusade, like they first thought...that could mean that this expansion would be all about Draenei, and for me that would have been much better, they have much more lore to back them up
@Balnazzardi I don't see the idea of them getting along with the Night Elves impossible. Look at the Horde. They have the Undead on their team, and everyone dislikes the Undead, especially Tauren, yet they work with them though only because the Undead were free from the Scourge and wanted revenge against them. I'd imagine the same way with the Naga, who hate the Night Elves, but work with them to take down evils like Deathwing.
A Dranei expansion would be nice. We could see and visit Argus.
@Yabuturtle Well the way I see it that hatred between Night Elves and Naga have such deep roots that I just dont see that possible...but yeah, I would have much more prefered Argus for example as the main thing of this expansion, but that's propably something Blizz will do in the future....
I still dont think that Blizz would go on with WoW for another decade or so...Im willing to bet that when the level cap reaches 100 that will be the last expansion, meaning 2 more expansions after this one
@Balnazzardi I would hope so. Seeing Argus would be nice. The Dranei have some mystery to them and it would be nice to finally see their home planet. Some thing when it reaches 100 that will be the last. Probably where Sargeras might show up again. By then more classes and races will show up. They might add more neutral race like the Pandaren where you can be on the Alliance or Horde. Perhaps the Naga would be a neutral race like the Pandaren. Maybe Orgres. Who knows. Gotta wait to find out.

@ChrisCa1601 Pandaren have been in the lore since 2003. I don't see how this is an issue for so many people, the reason they are even in the lore in the first place is because people liked them.
@Merimi Nope...the reason why there were in TFT in the first place, was because Warcraft's lead art-designer "Samwise" loved to draw Pandas....sure some people loved them back then,but you can't speak for everyone and generalize like that, that all people loved them...many people like me thought about them nothing more than a joke....if only Pandarians were only small part of the expansion, just like every other "new" race, it would have been ok....but to build entire expansion around them...

I don't think it's coincedence that most people who dislike the next exp are people that are around their 30's or more.
So what left for us is either to move to another mmorpg or try to see wow from a total different angle. We have to take it for granted that wow will never bring us back the feelings we had when we start playing it, and i dont think any other game of the same genre will.

@ThePensilvania3 Well that is certainly true....as much as I love SWTOR right now, it certainly didnt have the same feel to it as WoW did back in 2005 when I first played it....and like you said, no other game in the same genre will ever feel the same.
I returned back to WoW after 4 year break last fall, when Blizz made the game free2play till level 20, and I really "fell in love" with it again....but with this expansion Blizz made the decision easy for me to move to SWTOR

Many people (including me) start playing wow in younger ages, we got older and we wanted the game to evolve with us. This will be amazing for us but might not be so amazing for the profits of the company. Either we like it or not wow customer base was and will always be ages 14-24. 2nd, idk if any of you were familiar with ff series, but there was a area i believe it was in ff9 where the worse gear/wep u had, the better damage u did to the enemy. i would find that interesting if blizz could mix that into wow. Again this is just imo.

WoW dropped off bigtime imo when they made every toons power based off the top exp lvl from like wotlk and cata. aka, back in vanilla or bc u could hit a guy well say as a lvl 70 for like 2k. Now times and patches that same lvl toon will hit for like 10k. Would be interesting for blizz if they did 2 things. 1. have cap checkpoints at certain lvls. again ill use lvl 70ex. you must complete the raids at that lvl b4 u can move on to 71. and it must done in a grp of ppls that are that lvl only.

Nobody I know is excited about this expansion, and that's probably due to it embarrassing everyone 25 or older. The sheer ferocity of the WoW fanboys is unreal, and I think it is fueled by insecurity and blind denial. I admire that you've kept up on responses, and reciprocate against vehement fanboys with poise. They won't listen to reason now, but history will remember this expansion as a turning point.

@Balnazzardi Well when TBC hit, you had the Dreanei to play (of course) and the blood elves,and the Outland, which is the battered remains of the planet Draenor. (Of course,home world of the Orcs and the last refuge of the Eredar,so highly populated and influenced by the Draenei.) On top of that, all the instances and quests that relate to the Draenei do pretty much seal the deal. Tbc IS all about the Draenei and the blood elves rising, and conquering the burning legion & Illidan...

I know what you're saying, from what we've seen, it's not as dark or serious as Classic stuff, but you should at least give it a chance, dude. As long as they have a good story and a good antagonist, I'm happy. I'm not judging it before I can play it and see for myself. Blizz never let me down before.

@maisboyfriend Back then in Warcraft III, they were only A SMALL part of the game...really Chen Stormstout said like only few words during that short orc/horde campaing of Frozen Throne, basicly he was just another hero unit, and that didnt bother me as much, especially when the orc/horde campangaing was sort of "bonus" campaing, that wasnt really part of the main events of the game.

@Balnazzardi No, you don't know what you're talking about. In Warcraft III, every single race got its own page in terms of lore in the handbook. Pandaren got a full page on them, just a big as Orcs, Undead, ETC. If they were a joke, they would not have added them into the expansive lore in 3. But they did. There's really NO excuse for disliking them other than a shitty movie that came out AFTER they were put in.
If you can't take pandas I don't see how you could have taken octopus space goats.

My opinion is my own and not "that of a lot of players" - a lot of people just happen to share my opinion. not sure if this is true, but the development board did have some ideas for MoP, along with other ideas for the next expansion, it is rumored they pick Mists of Pandaria, cuz for one, their was a large fan base who wanted them in the game(They were in Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne), and someone else was thinking of using a name like Pandaria so blizzard rushed to get the copyright for the name. I loved the Pandaren drunken brawlers in Warcraft 3, best neutral hero ever.

For those of us who never played the RTS games before the MMO was released we never even heard of pandas in wow, except as a non-combat pet. I've played for four years and been disappointed in the shift to a more 'normalized' play experience so no one feels left behind or excluded. It isn't just about MoP it's about the entire WoW experience feeling like it's gone from badass content you had to actually work at to kiddy content handed to you on a peanut oil-stained, chinese take-out menu.

This isn't a rip off of Kung Fu Panda. It's the other way around. The Pandaren and their asian culture have been around long since Kung Fu Panda was released. Besides, it's just a race, it's not like you have to be the Pandaren, just pick something else. They have the Monk class and spells are learned automatically, no need to go to a trainer either.

@Balnazzardi I do find it strange that this race pretty much has their own land. If they had to do that, they actually should have done that with the Dranei and have an entire planet instead, their home planet Argus. So you'd have 3 different worlds, Azeroth, Outland, and Argus. Still I know a lot is built around them but do not be hasty. Ironically the Pandaren race might be the best despite looking silly. I'm still trying it out anyway. The only way to be sure is to try it.

@Balnazzardi I don't see the idea of them getting along with the Night Elves impossible. Look at the Horde. They have the Undead on their team, and everyone dislikes the Undead, especially Tauren, yet they work with them though only because the Undead were free from the Scourge and wanted revenge against them. I'd imagine the same way with the Naga, who hate the Night Elves, but work with them to take down evils like Deathwing.
A Dranei expansion would be nice. We could see and visit Argus.

I still dont think that Blizz would go on with WoW for another decade or so...Im willing to bet that when the level cap reaches 100 that will be the last expansion, meaning 2 more expansions after this one

Some thing when it reaches 100 that will be the last. Probably where Sargeras might show up again. By then more classes and races will show up. They might add more neutral race like the Pandaren where you can be on the Alliance or Horde. Perhaps the Naga would be a neutral race like the Pandaren. Maybe Orgres. Who knows. Gotta wait to find out.
