i remember watching this game live. if you told me at that time that bill parcells would someday be the head coach of the cowboys i'd have called you crazy. with the nfl, you just never know what's going to happen next. .... interestingly, dan mcgwire was the brother of baseball player and known steroid user mark mcgwire. seattle in 1992 had the worst offense in the nfl and one of the worst ever.
@briank06261973 The 1992 Seahawks scored only 140 points in 16 games, averaging 8 points a game. The 2005 Super Browl Seahawks teams scored that many points in a 3 to 4 game stretch.
@conlanding True. They had the number one offense in the NFL in 2005. I remember a two game stretch that season where they outscored Philly and San Fran by a combined score of 83-3 (they beat Philly 42-0 on Monday Night Football then followed that up with a 41-3 win over San Fran). Makes the 1992 season seem like a distant memory.
@briank06261973 Larry Kennan was the Seahawks o-coordinator in 1992. He also had the same position with the New England Patriots in 1997 in which his offense scored 143 points after the first 5 games of that season in which they went 4-1 with Drew Bledsoe at QB. The Seahawks scored 280 points in 1993 with rookie Rick Mirer at QB.
@conlanding I remember those days. I've been a Seahawks fan since the 1984 season. I recall that Mirer had a good rookie season in 1993, then he started to show some inconsistency, and he continued the downward spiral, so that by 1996, he was gone. They were middle of the road from 1995-1998, and Dennis Ericson got fired after the 1998 season, partly due to the "phantom touchdown" at the Jets, which knocked Seattle out of the playoffs that year.
@lakebay972 Imagine if Seattle had picked Brett Favre instead of Dan McGwire.Probably would have been better. I think they saw McGwire's size (6'8'', 240 lbs) and drafted him based on that rather than his ability (or lack thereof) to play QB. Another stupid move by the Seahawks in those days.
without a doubt, from 92-93 that was the most talented dline ever in history.
haley- hof
maryland- pro bowl
casillas- cat quick
tolbert- pro bowl
jeffcoat- borderline hof
jimmie jones- starter and pro bowl talent
leon lett- probably most talented dlineman in league from 92-95

It was painful to watch the Seahawks that year. 2-14, what a disappointment.

Aah the year Seattle had half a team; really good defense, but no offense. Cortez Kennedy was a beast that year, but our QBs were a joke.

@briank06261973 Back in 1991, the Seahawks drafted Dan McGwire over Brett Favre. OH JOY!

@RobertBalto Yeah, Prick Mirer was our "savior"...Only took 3 starting QBs and 2 coaches after him to return to playoffs in 1999...
