@tallli Well, I don't think that it is a surprise that if I believe in God, then I also believe the Bible, and that is where I would get a basis for his attributes, and evidence for some of them seen in the world.

But as far as children go, it is pretty much universally accepted doctrine in Christianity that children who die at young ages do go to heaven, and I think heaven is just slightly nicer than impoverished Haiti. The adults who died, again read my last comment.
