There Are Now Three People With Shit Blocking They're Hearing....Will Someone Please Buy Them Some Q-Tips So They Can Hear This Timeless Track.....Peace
Did you know this particular 1974 gem of a song was recorded at the then-Caribou Ranch in Nederland, Colorado in August 1973 before being released in 1974?
This was not only my favorite group back in the day, but they were a group that you knew when you bought there albums you could play them from beginning to end. You would dance (you had to, you couldn't help it) to holding that someone you loved so tight on the dance floor and feel that love. This was just the greatest band of all time. My most appreciative and earnest props go out to Marice White and all EWF
Philip and I belonged to the same church for several years, and I tell ya, he used to rock the place with that awesome voice of his. I really miss Earth Wind & Fire. The music industry needs to bring groups like this back!
@kjchicago1 Yes. That is correct ... none other than.
During this same time, Philip also lead his own private gospel group, called The Living Epistles. I tell ya, not even the angels of heaven can sing better than these folks could.
My good God, that's good stuff! Hi class song. My father have this and others LP'S from this band! I'm listening this since i was a litle kid and i always loved! Thank you father for the great taste for music!
THIS IS VINTAGE EARTH WIND AND FIRE. DEVOTION(OPEN OUR EYES 1974) TO ME IS THEIR BEST SONG EVER! AND ON THE GRATITUDE ALBUM 1975 THE LIVE VERSION OF DEVOTION GAVE THIS SONG MORE POPULARITY! VERY FEW SONGS WITH TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS WILL EVER BE POPULAR,BUT DEVOTION IS! I LOVE THIS SONG ESPECIALLY THE STUDIO VERSION. THIS SONG IS AN R&B CLASSIC!
In everyone's life there's a need to be happy. Let the sun shine a smile your way. Open your heart, feel the touch of devotion. Maybe this song will help uplift your day, make a better way.
So so happy to hear this again, I'm close to tears. I remember so well how this music uplifted me, made me feel like I wasn't alone, that love really was and is the answer. Bless Maurice White, Philip Bailey, Verdine White and all the members of this pioneering group for touching my life again and again.
Doesn't this song just make you feel good inside? Of course it does. :-) Classic & timeless Earth, Wind & Fire! (REAL MUSIC THAT KICK THE *&#@ OUT OF TODAY'S FAKE MUSIC)
The kind of music that expresses the KINGDOM with excellence in society-at-large. If you listen with your spirit, you can't help but to recognize Love expressing itself in Righteousness, Peace and Joy! The message is eternal. ...We should ALWAYS be in Love with this kind of music.

i have a broken too, nerves exposed, im on ssi, medi-cal won't pay, in pain, been taking pain pills, buying them with rent money, 16 year old kid is going in for pace maker, my oldest kid 28 year old, let's her inlaws talk bad about me and my other kids, yeah, kinda depressed today, but at least we are all alive, living in america, this song really picks me up, thank you.

Lawd, Lawd...can I just go back to this year...I think it was 1974 or 1975...OH MY, OH MY! Thank you so much for posing this one...okay back to my memory lane moment...
all my albums from then were destroyed in a fire! DAMN! i had all the oldies. They were my older brothers albums passed down to me, and i had bought albums when i was coming up. ALL my shit gone! I still get queasy thinkin about that loss.
For those who believe the young generations are effed for great instrumentals...think again!!! you are just not looking hard enough. GET OUT THERE and support your local musicians!
OMG.i did not know EWF sang this song until today.i could not believe it.i tell you without prejudice.this group is my no 1 group of all time,i dont care.what anyone says.
back in the day when we went to parties you could not dance to this music we all used to sing them.
so much meaning in these songs they just lift you up even if you were feeling sad.
@maxree05 Yep, this song is from 1974(Album recorded in August 1973 at the Caribou Ranch in Nederland, Colorado)Philip Bailey's vocals sound as good as when it was first recorded on this song!
after all these years this song THIS SONG is still so inspirational I LOVE IT it has gotten me thru some tough times n it was made before I was born WOW
LoL..."You can't play with my Yo-Yo....Yo-Yo-Yo."....seriously tho...nothing like the original...regardless of the sample...this brings much memories..my dad played these cuts evysunday...when washing his car....thanx for the visual flashback as well...much 'preciated....
"And deliver us from the fruits of evil, bringing voices to sing sweet harmony"
I wonder if this matters anymore---that is---positive messages such as this.
Well it should matter to ANYONE WHO CARES ABOUT OUR FUTURE, because
we need some real substance in our music, Alicia Keys among others have heard
the cause ; but we need more in order to keep our kids from thinking "being cool is being negative. Positive is positive any day in my book. Some of us are reading the wrong "Book"
where's all the great artist today? it's all a bunch of thugs rapping about their car,my bitch,my bling,my drank,my gun ect.. you have got to be the most none emotional,no passion having,no feeling, cold blooded, ruthless person in the world if u can't enjoy great music like this. baby making music, (not saying that's what it all about) but just great music.i'm 43 and will never 4 get these great groups of yesterday. we had the greatest era of music ever produced in the 60's 70's 80's early 90's
Say it str8outtatexas1 !! I'm 48 and let's tell it like it is...the musical climate of today is a scary thing. We have lost our talent for playing instruments, singing without OVERsinging, the message we once had is no longer heard unless it is rapped. And what really gets me is that some of the youth of today get all angry when you try to tell them what passes for music today is a disappointing shell of what it used to be. A time when we sang of love...now it's banging that thang...ugh !
I can't lie, times today are rough. We face an era where music is dry...it's no longer original or soulful....however back in the day's where my mother and father and their kin grew up.....the music of the oldies is where it's at. Don't get me wrong we have some good music, but it'll never amount to the oldies. Some Freddy Jackson, EWF, The Ojays, the Stylistics....timeless classics in which we'll never forget. I maybe 24 but I"m a man who can appreciate great, meaningful music. Amen to that.
@btinsley1 u r so right well i am the youth of today but i know good music when i hear it and i have not heard anything worth relly hearing in the last ten years or so
keona3157: i pray one day we will enter a new music renaissance where we will again hear a relevant message accompanied by instruments and multiple-part harmonies. Skill & artful communication NEVER goes out of style...
@btinsley1 Truth is, we could debate on this all day, but facts is facts... there will never be a time where young people as a whole will like old music more than their current music. Most of us didn't do it, nor did the generation before us, nor will the generation after us.
I like 70s music too, especially EWF, and I own a lot of it. But for the most part, every generation goes through this, now it's our turn to go through it. In 10 years, it'll be their time.
@btinsley1 THIS music made us all rich in the spirit; we have rich artists now who can't bring it like this or anywhere near this level. Money AIN'T everything for sure.
@str8outtatexas1 say man, i'm from texas too, and i love the classics like ewf, stevie wonder, sam cooke, bobby hebb, there's so much good old school i hope i live long enough to jam most of it. But alot of those cats in htown today are rapping better than anyone else in the country, and what's cool is they sample guys like luther vandross and teddy pendergrass! But you're right commercial music blows compared to 30 years ago

It is what it is.

@btinsley1 THIS music made us all rich in the spirit; we have rich artists now who can't bring it like this or anywhere near this level. Money AIN'T everything for sure.

@MOREHOUSE80: regarding your reply.....all i can say is what my 95 year old grandfather used to say in church: WAAAAAAAAL !
