I understand that people want one of these parrots because they talk but to rehome it because it doesn't is really STUPID! If you get a pet for your entertaintment only then you shouldn't have a pet. You should enjoy raising and caring for it too.
Thank GOODNESS Luke found his forever home with you! Poor baby. I can't believe he had FOUR homes before he was even a year old! I've heard African Grays usually learn to talk (if they talk, that is) around the same time a human child learns to talk (between 1 to 2 years). Anyway, his previous homes didn't deserve him. I have birds that do talk and ones that don't. I love them ALL for who they are.
Such a lucky bird to have found you, and shame on the people who have a bird like that because they are suppose to talk. But he seems so very happy, and obviously he knows how much he is loved!
I've looked at your other videos too - all your birds are just awesome! I love the one of the cockatoo allowing a human touch! WOW!
I have a rehomed adult Grey. She doesn't talk a lot, but loves making sound effects. No matter what she does (or doesn't do) we love her and she's a riot all the time.
It's so sad when people buy these birds just because they think one day it'll talk and entertain them. i'm very glad Luke ended up with you for a parent. You seem very attentive to him. Glad he is so happy now! Seems like your doing a wonderful job raising him as part of the family. I have an 8 month old TAG who is starting to talk and I love her very much talking or not. Keep up the good work.
I rehomed Sammi as his owner didn;t want him anymore as he only had one eye. Isn't that horrible. So my friend went down from Nottingham to WEales (500 round-trip) to pick him up. He's now 22 and he's been on TV and is my best friend in the whole wide world. Check out SAMMI IS A SUPERSTAR AND SAMMI IS A SUPERSTAR 2.
omg sooo cute i wish i could rehome a grey i really want one!!! they are such wonderful birds....its so great to see people taking in birds that need homes and so horrible to see people buying birds and just getting rid of them for such dumb reasons :(
He's so cute!!! Enjoying himself talking and giving kisses to the own...He look so happy moving around the cage... Shame on those previous owner who've given him up when he's just only 7month old!
people don't realize it takes Grey's up to about a year to talk....and sometimes they don't talk because they aren't happy....He seems to be a happy boy, and loved!! Good Job!!
that's so terrible that he went through 4 different homes by the time he was 7 months old just because he wasn't talking fast enough for people. i'm glad he finally found a good home where he gets all the love and attention he deserves. =)
people who want a bird just for it's talking abilities make me sick. i think a budgie actually holds the record for saying the most words. those people should just stick with budgies. they're easy to please.
Well done. I wish people could be half as caring in the world to each other. Critters, floof and cuddle monsters, pretty boys (all endearing words for our animals) around the world need kindness and care like yours. Pity animal lovers don't rule the world. :-)
What a sweet bird! I'm glad he has a happy ending. I have an Indian ringneck which are supposed to be good talkers, but so far he isn't talking yet. I don't care, I love him to bits and if he ever ends up talking, that will just be a bonus. You are a great bird mommy!
Oh, my, I read your comment on this video and started to cry, 4th home for Luke, but to think about it it might have taken a little long time for him, but he found the best home for him! I could tell you really love him, and he loves you too!
Very happy warm vidoe to start my morning here in Japan! Thanx!
Am I right in thinking that he whistled part of the theme to Jeeves & Wooster??? If so that blows my mind 'cause I would have sworn we were the only ones in the world with a parrot that could whistle that LOL!!
What a great bird--he's obviously very happy with you!
Your doing a great job.Greys don't usually talk until about a year old.Ours is a rehomed & abused Grey that we got 1&1/2 yrs.ago.He never shuts up.We just put him this site under "My grey sings cops song".Thank you for saving Luke,he looks so happy.
Praises to you for keeping this little guy talking or not! Most people out there should never even buy a parrot. He's so blessed to have you and you're so blessed to have found him!
No way! Heck most don't talk until they reach at least a year old. My Piper started talking around 6 months but even if she didn't talk I'd still love her to death.
I'm glad Luke found a good home.. he sure didn't need morons for owners.. good job! :)
i agree we got our second african gray from someone who didnt want her because she didnt talk when we first got her back she did nothing but scream but now she talks confidently and is much happier.
Awww, what a cutie. He's says "Hello" so adorable! Happy birdie. I can't believe he had 4 homes before he was 7 months old, poor baby. He's got a great momma now. Given up for not talking, man... ;( I mean, yeah, it's great when they talk, but they're so much fun besides that!
*GRIN* He's asking for a "Crackle" LOL! He combined "cracker" and "apple" to mean a treat for doing well. He still says "cracker" or "apple" if he specifically wants one though.

Luke is such a great grey. I had to laugh a few times at him. He is very talkative. I don't know who has more toys, Luke or my grey, Simon.

That's so harsh that the only reason they wanted a bird is because of the talking.
No wonder it used to bite them.
Says more about the owners than the pretty bird!
