I started using Dvorak three days ago and my typing speed is about 12 WPM... I hope I can be this fast one day!! Typing slow is so frustrating, but I need to persevere...
i love the way it doesn't seem to look half as impresive as the qwerty until you realice that its a lot more so. Wow Im so tired after writting this with a dvorak layout... Lol
My mate got 118 awpm and 100% accuracy and 91% rhythm on Far off adventures. He's never gotten that before, his old score was like 104, my highest is 111awpm and 100% accuracy.
@0twistypuzzlefreak0 Dvorak is almost always configured in software, not hardwired into the keys themselves. The OS remaps the keys for you. You can buy a custom board if you want to but hardly anyone does, as that would be a waste of money. Most people either get stickers or pull off the keys and rearrange them until they're comfortable enough to not have to look at the keys. Then they just use a regular qwerty board.
@0twistypuzzlefreak0 vestlen is correct. You can change the keyboard layout in the operating system for basically every operating system that exist. As vestlen said, you can physically remove the keys around. However, that would defeat the purpose of touch typing wouldn't it? Plus, keyboards are contoured a specific way. So if I rearrange it, the keys would be very lopsided and weird. You are correct though, I am using a physical QWERTY keyboard, but Dvorak layout. :)
wow, nice and fast. I notice you reach pretty far to hit that backspace. I bind my capslock as another backspace and it's amazing. It took a day to get use to but once you do, you'll never look back. So much faster.
@RelativityGuru I have been using Dvorak for about 4 years now. The first year I got to about 80WPM, which is still slower then my fastest QWERTY speeds. However, now 4 years later I'm glad I switched. If you are going to be typing a lot it will definitely save you from carpal tunnel syndrome. :)
Is it really true that most of the keys pressed are usually in the home row?

How does wasd work for games? Do you have to rebind it? :)
Terids 3 months ago
@Terids Yeah I have to go into the game and change it to ,aoe lol. Or just change my keyboard layout back to qwerty and use wasd.
lbrtdy 2 months ago
@Terids It depends on the game too, in newer games you don't have to rebind.

I love how you aren't even using a dvorak keyboard, you are using a qwerty. You can obviously see the layout..
