I always distinguish between Germans and Nazis in WW2. I imagine what I would feel like if my country, which at its core stands for freedom, was corrupted by a hate-filled ideology. I would hope desperately that the rest of the world would come to see that this ideology did not in fact represent my country at all - that the vast majority of us hated it and yearned desperately for a return to the country we once had. I imagine most Germans felt the same in the Second World War.

The only reason you lost as much as you did was because Stalin didn't care about the lives of his soldiers so he just threw them at the enemy with no real purpose until they won. I always distinguish between Germans and Nazis in WW2. I imagine what I would feel like if my country, which at its core stands for freedom, was corrupted by a hate-filled ideology. I would hope desperately that the rest of the world would come to see that this ideology did not in fact represent my country at all - that the vast majority of us hated it and yearned desperately for a return to the country we once had. I imagine most Germans felt the same in the Second World War.

my grandfather was also born on jan 21st, like maj winters, but he wasn't as lucky as major winters. he was born in prussia, not pennsylvania and served as a captain in the wehrmacht. at least not all of his company members killed themselves.he was ordered to. it was not like everybody wanted to. i feel really lucky to live in peace now, mostly due to some brave americans. and in the end my grandfather was happy that he could continue his life home with the family. The only reason you lost as much as you did was because Stalin didn't care about the lives of his soldiers so he just threw them at the enemy with no real purpose until they won. They had so many causalties because you had no tactics and 50 shitloads of troops, my puppy stbbing opponant.

The ANZACs stopped the Japanese advance for the first time with under trained malitia, held Tobruk for 8 months when running low on supplies. Some of the best generals commented the ANZACs as being some of the best troops they had even seen and that goes to show. Stop ripping into nationalities that fought beside you during the war!
