Dear penguin fan yes pitsburg is imense however this game is 1 of the best ive ever played my mate curtis who is a huge cod fan played it and was quite genuenlly raped 1 guy with an mp5 killed his entire team in about 10 seconds thus do get this game however excpect to acctually work to beat it i for example got owned the first time i played it and i bash games ive completed all the halos and cods on legendary and veteren even halo wars shit game but honestly it is great for when a plan works :)

i just played a single player mission from this game.....my god how amazing it is! its really hard and very straining but when i finished the mission its so relieving and rewarding! Heres the statistics from the mission i played:

Enemy kills: 40

Distance traveled by foot: 2,644 meters

Mission time: 00:32:44 (yes, 32 minutes!)

i am an owner of ArmA2 and other tactical games and i have to so this one is pretty good! id say its worth the money

It was in development for over 4 years and on the drawing board since the first OFP in 2000!!!

It's exactly the same game as OFP. ALL the same issues :/

Taking out the editor was a fatal move though. You NEED to be able to make your own maps.

EVERYTHING is mediocre in this game, the worst part is NONE of this had to happen.

All of the issues could have been avoided with better planning.

If you can .50cal snipe Han's pilot in Dacapitation and kill Han with the crash, then you have mastered sniping in this game. Headshot the pilot, secure a vehicle, explode the radio tower and drive out while avoiding patrols. If you can do all that shit and not die on hardcore mode, then you should perhaps get a life.

yeah but graphics arnt everything bro. the xbox 360 can only handle so much, which is why the detail is limited. If ur a PC player, you have ArmA 2, which is an awesome simulation aswell. But because this game was meant for consoles, I think they did an awesome job. Sure it aint no Farcry 2, but because of all the little things. The background, the shots getting fired at you, the firefights, the landscape, the weapon detail. In conclusion, this game is underrated. 9.5/10 for me.

yeah the game is almost fully patched, there is still those god mode AI's in laggy games, and the invisible guns still show up from time to time, but i have to say its my favorite FPS good review, i just wish codemasters had maybe one more year to work with the game.

Totally agree! They didn't use 60% of the map and there were no tank missions or anything using the claimed 40 vehicles they had! Yes you can play through a mission by walking different ways but how about using vehicles I mean they had amphibious tanks but never used them or had you drive them! They needed to make larger missions too it felt small for a large area. The east side of the map was completely unused.

oh yer guys just an idea i had tell me what you think... if on mw2 or any popular FPS game instead of just getting callsigns and emblems or wateva you can actually choose what unit you go into and specialise in, for example you start off as a standard soilder work your way up and you can choose your speciality i.e sniper, rifleman etc... then if your like really good at the game you can choose a special forces unit to join like SAS, Navy seals where you customize ur look etc...

oh yeah and if you have not flown a helo yet have fun it took me three tries to get the darn thing off the ground and then once I did get aloft thing were not much better. I have no idea how fighting in a helo goes because they do not give you the chance to even try it in the single player campgain, the best that I got to do was fly the Soviet style one in the first mission that looks like a Hip. As for vehicles all I found were trucks, jeeps and the humvee that you get in one or two missions.

I have the game for the XBOX 360, now I have played the crap out of single player missions and well they are still not boring it is a good way to wait out a snow storm which is what I did yesterday. I was looking forward to a multiplayer match of this game when I get myself to that point but after the horrible stuff that I have heard I think that another title might take its place but all in all I agree that this is a 6.5/10 to 7/10 game with room for lots of improvement.

OK this game is not free roam! Pretty much every mission has a time limit, a very short one at that, u will quick become frustrated with restarting missions as 30 mins in ul realise u cant finish the mission in the time u have left.. Secondly, half the stuff in this vid aint in the damn game!! No mission editor, only 1 chopper available to pilot in 1 mission (but id doesnt even have weapons). . Unless they realese massive updates, free updates might i add, they have bullshitted bout everything

They want to use the engine to produce a wide range of expansions like the first OFP.

Problem is the pay off for long term development sacrifices the userbase. As of last night the average number of online servers is 3-4!!! for a game thats barely a year old.

Very informative OP, I've had this game on pre-order for a while (my country sucks) and in that time I've been playing ARMA2 since its release here.

All over I think one of the bigger problems with ARMA2 is it has little accessibility, it's hard to get into the mood unless you really sit down and nut it out.

So OFDR comes out trying to be realistic but moving slightly towards COD4 just to give it a bit more accessibility while retaining the depth and characterisation expected of a milsim.

The guns are not as realistic as most claim. The sound and lighting are very bad.

Realism is the excuse most fan-boys give for this incomplete FPS title.

I think non of curent creators have ever playd original first OFP from Bohemia.

Think that most important segment of original was totaly lost.

Further more, creators of original OFP episodes made about 40 missions per each episode.

Tho, they kept simplicity of custom mission creation what was also advantage of original serial of OFP.

I was a bit disapointed with this game. Ive been waiting so long fo it and im on the last level at the moment and feel a bit cheated. It is pretty good but the Ai is pretty poor i gota say, i thought you would get access to a much larger range of vehicals as well. The campaign to me also seems too short. it is good still

Just wanted to say that the path-finding when you tell your squad mates to move is fine: It takes a long time because if you watch closely they are remaining in the formation you told them to go to. Just next time when you use the radical menu go to orders, movement and move fast, they move MUCH quicker.

Also I think the car-handling is fair for what it is, and so are the graphics.

Good review, although I cannot agree with your initial comment about utilizing the entire island to plan your attacks. Each mission has its own boundary and straying outside of this boundary causes the mission to fail. Multiplayer is also bound by the same system. This leaves a 220KM squared island that you cannot fully utilize anywhere expect the mission editor.

PC users BEWARE though, although it states 32 player MP this is not working, there are no dedicated server files, therefore the server you connect to is just someone's home PC and the LAG is terrible, there is NO anti cheat and already full of cheaters with no way to kick them from a server

Code MAsters have stated they will not fix this issue, so do not buy thinking it will be a good MP experience

Dragon, in response to your comment about the "move" command and cover:

In the game, you aren't ordering your men to move to a single spot. Instead, you are ordering them to move to a grid coordinate. As such, they're not really moving to the spot you put your reticle at, but rather the grid it is in (though, they do make good not to get as close to the marker as possible). As such, you're not really telling them which side of the wall to be on.

Fixable? Yes. But that's what I've come up with.

AND was missing the best features that mad the original so great... the features codemasters promised... NO free roam... NO use of any vehicle... NO persistent damage... NO persistent war... the entire map is BARE other than the conflict within the AO... for both pc and console... the only area you can tell they spent time on was graphics, sound and authenticity... THAT is it... this is an Operation Flashpoint game IN TITLE ONLY

The vehicle driving sucks soooo fucking bad. If you buy this game for the multiplayer, you will EXTREMELY disappointed. You always play as the PLA and you HARDLY ever get to play as the USMC, which means you get stuck with shitty weapons you whole experience. I thought this game was a huge let down. The graphics are worse than BFBC, so is the gameplay.
