Yeah, in the anime world. Nanoha exhibits the features of the typical anime dad. Especially the kind of the group badass who usually had a dad that was incredibly tough on them. Fate is the typical mother when it comes to anime. Though she has a habit of acting like the guy in the relationship at times. I'd say the roles are often interchanged. It's not like they have to be one way or the other. A lot of couples switch the roles up every now and then.

@snipermagoo, I know it's a stereotype, one I don't exactly care for or choose to live by. It isn't a "Western view", it was someone's view I heard and thought was true in most circumstances I've come across was all. However, they can be what they wanna be. Just like me, I do not fit a gender role that old fashions have set for me at all. So yes, I do agree with you. However I made that statement to appeal to those who might have seemed confused in a way. Which in a way I still I am. lol :P

@Azmodeus87 lol This is Certainly not true in some parts, Nanoha is the Mother, while Fate is the Godmother cause Fate, already has Two Kids of her own she truly takes care of, and Fate said she would basically just help out when needed, Nanoha and Vivio Are like Real Mother And child in emotions and getting to know each other, Fate watches over them in case they make mistakes in their lives, They are not Lesbians :P Nor Yuri, Think of them as a aka Helpful Partners, Stands together! and such

That was adorable! No, I'd say if anything Nanoha is the father and Fate is the mother, though they dress the opposite roles. Fate dresses more tomboy-like even though she is the one to rush to help Vivio on an instant. Nanoha wants her to learn for herself to become strong, parenting style usually of a father, even though she dresses as a woman. @.@ topsy turvy.

Well, that's a Western view. By Japanese standards, Fate's periods of absence due to work and tendancy to spoil Vivio are fatherly stereotypes.
