The pilots are true heroes; not only for rescuing the plane, but for not killing the attacker.

Had that happen to me, all sorts of hate and anger would have exploded in my mind.

The fear of dying, the adrenalin, and racial hatrid would have turned me into a murderer.

I would have grabbed that hammer, aimed for his skull, and i would have started beating WITH ALL MY STRENGTH, and i would not have stopped till his head was only fragments on the floor, and all signs of life would had vanished!

The DC-10 has had such a bad reputation...you gotta admire how that aircraft took such an incredible beating - way beyond what it was designed to take - and still held together and got its crew home! Also, this is probably the best flying in all of these ACI incidents (along with United 232). It feels good to be able to admire great flying instead of always lamenting the poor flying that causes a lot of these ACI accidents.

that was the saddest thing those pilots not flying again. i was gonna say i'd have no problem with my pilot carrying a gun for emergency purposes, but i understand that would make some situations even more dangerous as the plane would become prone to takeovers after snatching the pilot's gun.

Why do they make it sound like Calloway had hatched a brilliant plan? Surely the NTSB would have been able to pick up on the fact that the plane had been crashed deliberately, with no technical problems? Also, him sending a large sum of money to his wife and leaving his will for all to see would have raised some suspicion surely? I think he did this out of spite because he knew FedEx were going to fire him and he wanted to go out with a bang, so to speak.

@125RTY That is what I don't understand, a pilot earns a decent wage so he could have saved up enough to send them to college. He didn't think about how his actions could affect the other pilots families or for that matter his own family. I don't think this was about money, I think he was mad that FedEx were probably going to fire him and this was just a fuck you to them. If his family had received a payout that would have been a bonus for him. I am so glad he did not succeed.
