Whoever wrote that episode must've been a huge fan of Lois and Kal-El(Clark) because Lana's great aunt is called LOUISE! Most likely, the point was to proverbially kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Clark & Lana AND Clark and Lois(who would appear in the very next season(S4).

jerk producers and believe me if US CLANA fans get more of it, I doubt there would be fans of any other ship but them :)
too bad for the producers that they did struck gold with these two and they didn't use it *shrugs*
and we only thank the director who knew what she has in these two and utilized it till the very last bit :D
