  • I agree. Real vanillia essence or vanilla beanz would be an amazing addition to any sweet sauce. However, I think the toasted almonds would accentuate the flavor as well as vanilla (I haven't tried this recipe yet). Adding vanilla might not let the almondz shine in this particular application, like too many divas in one concert!

    I use real almond essence in my almond gelatin desserts. Almonds are so delicious & nutritious!

  • My mother-n-law would agree w/U, NuggetsOfTruth. She doesn't like flan or custard or anything that resembles flan or custard. She thinks it looks disgusting, like baby poo-poo. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Whenever I eat flan or custard or pudding around her she looks at me strange & scrunches up her noise in disdain. It's the strangest feeling! I'm currently 5 months pregnant & eat flan often for the calcium (great excuse!). I eat puddings for the same reason!
