The only good thing about the Fantastic Four movies for me and other dudes is probably Jessica Alba in that blue cat suit cause all I thought about when watching that movie when I was 15 was how hot she looked in the outfit for the movie. Shame she wore a wig in the second movie :(

when you mentioned ironman in the first 2 minutes, i would have to disagree with what you said. the acting and casting wasnt very good (robert downey jr's especially) and neither was jon favreu's directing. plus the two made both films look more like comedies rather than action films. i believe they're almost as bad as the tim burton and joel schumacher batman movies. but hopefully they'll get rebooted someday.

In the F4 Films 1.) Chris Evan´s as Johny was fun, The Scene

with Dr. Doom freezing Mr. Fantastic and feeling bad for The Thing

for some how he is handicap in a way. 2.) The Silver Surfer Effects

were cool and Doom looked better.

I agree, I wanted to enjoy FF. IMO? Yes, too 2d/cartoony and not serious enough. Ben Grimm didn't look very good (should have been CGI) and was not strong enough. The character can press 85 tons at least, and the fire truck did not weigh anywhere near that much. Johnny was spot on. Reed was too goofy with bad lines. Doom was a joke for the most part. This movie needs Christopher Nolan or Jon Favereau to reboot it.

I support this video and the statements made in the rant. I also agree about the cast of character points you've made. I have not seen Nip/Tuck but I used to be a very loyal Charmed fan. In fact, one of my favorite characters in the show was that of Cole Turner (played by Julian M.). However, when I watch Fantastic Four, I don't see the Dr. Doom we all know and love. I see Cole Turner and that is a problem for me. If you've seen Charmed seasons 3-5, you may know where I'm coming from. Thanks Sil

I do agree with you on Dr. Doom. It was a very bland portrayal. I think the 3 of the 4 members in the Fantastic 4 were perfectly cast, except Jessica Alba.

Doom was inexcusable. Bad writing, bad casting, no real motivation... they did not "get" him at all. Everything else was just ok, but at the end of the day, in a world where we have so many superhero movies coming out every year, neither of the FF films really bring much to the table that hasn't been done already - and better- elsewhere.

I think doom was perfect he felt like he was what man is like he felt like a god like he thought h was great.And i think the reboot will suck badly the cast worked out to me writting was ok motivation was done by stan lee.Dr.doom i think they go somthing like his evil side dr. doom was casted and i will say this there are alot of people like edward norton did killer films and he worked out i think he worked out.

your thoughts and reviews are very fair and well thought out. You bring up points I wouldnt have thought of myself and I analyze these movies a lot myself too. The only thing missing is actual scenes from the movie. When you mentioned the Nip Tuck thing it would have been great to have a 5 second scene from the show. Or that silver surfer thing wouldve been great to see too. People, me included, are simply too lazy to go see it again just for one scene.

I don't know whether the Silver Surfer ever caused the FF to switch powers in the past... I do know that they Johnny and Sue have switched powers during the Mark waid run though; issues 519 to 522 (in 2005) , but it was Reed's own doing-- in order to save his wife. Later on Reed tried to take the Thing's powers but Ben wouldn't let him.

Yeah, the director said he wanted to focus on Fantastic Four as a family. It was an enjoyable film, gets at least a 7.5/10 from me. The sequel gets about a point more, because Silver Surfer was awesome in that movie.

I think the reason it gets bashed on so much is because people came in expecting a psychological superhero flick like Spider-Man 2 and were disappointed when they found out that the movie wasn't aiming for that.

Too many of marvel movies are just sci-fi. We need more fantasy. That's whats wrong with Doom. He should be half sci-fi and half fantasy as he is in the comics.

Galactus was a giant cloud. WHAT ?! What is that all about ? And I wanted to see an epic battle between him and the surfer. Where is my epic battle ?

Great comments as usual. However I disagree with you a little bit. I did not go into the first FF movie looking for a serious deep movie. The FF comics are very light in tone compared to X-Men or Batman. I feel the first movie had just the right tone and seriousness. The second movie just sucked. The film makers did not give 100%. It seemed lazy. Except for the effects. The FF movies can't get the villains right. Doom should have had more of a fantasy feel. Also what was up with Galactus ?

Well, in context with the story, Doom was exactly how he was suppose to be(minus the whole two-dimensional thing). The movies were all pretty much science, and considering this was pretty early in the FF's hero career, it makes sense that Doom would not automatically become the badass he was in the comics. If they were to make a 3rd film, they'd probably have Doom rising to power.

That's no excuse for poor character development. Take a look at Joker from TDK. He's a supporting character who was very developed for his screen time.

If Galactus could have been properly done with as few screentime in the movie as he did, then I'm all for it. I just prefer them leaving the character as a secret as opposed to forcing him down the audiences' throats just to kill him off 15 minutes later.

Also, with Galactus, I can understand. However, I do think that Galactus was intended to be a main plot point for future films. They probably just decided to reference him in this movie and show his true self in the 3rd. You can also see a bit of Galactus's helmet inside the middle of the clouds.

In that case, I prefer this approach. They didn't pull a Spidey 3 and try to have multiple villains in this movie and kill off one of the main pulls of the movie in his 15 minutes of screentime.

I didn't think it would be a very serious movie, but expected it to be serious compared to Marvel's movies up to that point. The tone was out of nowhere. The tone of the comics is light though, so it makes sense, but could've been taken more seriously.

I felt the second was a vast improvement from the first. I agree that McMahon was distracting... when my brother watched it with me he said 'Alriiight Christian Troy... who's he gonna fuck?' lol... Other than that, I enjoyed McMahon as a snarling super villain... and he gets a few good moments in the extended cut of the 1st FF movie. Good points all Silver.

I enjoyed the Fantastic 4 movies. I found them fun and enjoyable. I liked the sequel better.

I liked the casting of Doctor Doom because i think that is how Doctor Doom would be in a real world. I think they need two movies to develope his character. He keeps getting more Doomish with each movie and needs a third movie to become full Doom.

But great review and i like how you are always fair. Never truly bash but never always praise. Can't wait to see another review.
