It keeps your hand close to the strings for easy muting not only with your palm but with the fingers your holding the pick in.

@xddlolx - it does appear, upon closer look at the beginning of the video that he is using a pick, and based on the sound, he would have to be palm-muting. I think you're right. However, there is virtually no pick-attack at all, it really does sound like no pick is being used.

@JustinChauGuitar - I realize that JM often plays without a pick and that it allows him to execute a lot of classic fingerstyle blues licks, etc. I was just saying that by NOT using a pick in this particular rendition, the chords sound a little muffled and diminished when I think it could have sounded cooler if they were more defined (by playing with a pick).

Well Mayer signatures are about a good 3000$, and depending on your country and taxes and such it can easily run in to 4000$ :)

Seeing how this is black, i'm not sure if it's the same model just black, but i don't think it would be because he uses this for Gravity acoustic and his signature for Heart of Life, so i believe there must be some sort of difference, or else it's just because of the tunings

Anyway, expect it to be expensive, not a lot of quality black Martins
