The state of freelance journalism in NZ

I have been a freelancer here in the states and this year has been terribly bad for me.

Generally, magazines and newspapers don't want to pay freelancers that much money because-like any business-they want to reduce labor costs and make higher profits.

The problem is that the free market doesn't work for us. We don't get paid anywhere near where we are worth and the idea of a strike is something I have thought about for years.

Very interesting information and ideas presented in this video. Some freelances have turned to the internet revolution for extra income with "New Media" outlets out there where you can publish your own work.
