This dummy is drinking Stella Artois? The MOST overrated beer in the history of beer. It tastes the same as that can of Budweiser does and you wont spend half the money for it. Red Stripe is a close second. Dont be fooled into thinking your drinking a good beer, you are just paying MORE for Budweiser.
@1978atcarroll I was perhaps unfair in my assessment of American beer. I'm sure there are some excellent American beers, but they are not widely distributed. All I see is Bud, Papst, and Coors. When I worked in a bar near the border during my university days (the 1970's) we had a stream of Americans who came across the border just for the beer. They all said we were boring, but our beer was superior. I figured a back handed compliment was still a compliment. Hey, I'm Canadian. It's how we roll.
@wmg111 yea american craft beer became popular in the 80s and now its big u can get good american beer at any bar. stone, sierra nevada, brooklyn lagers, magic hat, dogfish head are all in any local grocery.

There are more yeasts than just ale and lager yeasts and even in those strains there are multiple sub strains that range from clean to fruity for both.
except doppelbocks, eisbocks, baltic porters, etc... those are all lagers and they are huge in A.B.V. don't let this fool you, lagers can be just as strong and complex as ales... just not as often since they are harder to make.
Stouts, meads, IPAs, Porters, Barley Wines, even wine coolers are classified as beers, malt beverages. But hey there's only two. Stupid way to uneducate people that may actually want to know something about beer.
It's funny that 3 of the six beers are produced in my country :D

@pinworms70 Stella Artois isn't great but here in the UK, Stella is almost generally cheaper than Budweiser.

I think it's easier to classify by saying there is beer fit to drink, and then there is American beer. Not so daunting after all is it?

Thx's for the info. Too bad American beer is only half the alcohol percentages of Canadian.
scotian1279 2 years ago
so.... your saying that you can drink less beer?
or that your saving money, since you don't have to drink as much ? or what?
betocoyote16 2 years ago
I guess you'd have to drink more beer. Since a budwiser in Canada has 5% alcohol volume, and I'm not sure what the percentage is in the states.
scotian1279 2 years ago
yep that sounds about right 5 percent so it's that same we can get wasted just as fast..
