I love the Outlander series and am anxious for book 8 to come out. I love Jamie and Claire and that special love/connections/bond they share. I wish Jamie was real because he is one of my favorite fictional hero's. Tall, red and handsome. lol
I have never read a series of books that affected me so profoundly as these. I just finished an echo in the bone and I can't wait for my work day to be over so I can get the next one! Unfortunately I devour them so fast that I am actually depressed when I am done because I want so much more! This year is the first time I've read any of these books and I too am sad that I waited so long. Love you Diana, thank you for these amazing books - keep 'em coming!
I love this series...I'm just sorry I waited so long to read Outlander..but the good thing is that I can go right to the next book. I enjoy the historical facts weaved into a wonderful, adventurous story with characters that feel and seem so real! Thank you Diana!!!
uh..personally I think the series should have ended after voyager...it just seems drawn out and more than is needed. I am sure that everyone thinks they are fantastic but that's just me. And after a while Claire just begins to irritate me. As a teenager..which is when I started to read the series, she was fantastic and I loved her personality but now that I am in my mid-twenties I just can't stand her... sry..don't me started on Bree.I have never known someone that was THAT selfish..
@Froggermcfrog i kno how u feel, once i got further into the series i was like, ok these are good books but y keep it going this long? and bree; i tried really hard to like her but i just dont. her personality offends me lol
Outlander is the best book i have read by far. The first one makes you fall so deeply in love with Jamie that you yearn to be claire, and have that kind of love. I am in love. I cried like a baby and laughed outloud. It is a great series.
my favorite book series, and i'm slowly working on Drums of Autumn (the 4th), i'm thinking if I work slow enough, i won't have to wait too long between An Echo in the Bone (the 7th) and the release of the eighth! (i don't like being kept in suspense) :)
Diana - Your novels are wonderful. Please bring a movie screenplay forward that would give Gerard Butler a chance to make Jamie Fraser a role that Scotland and your fans would be proud.
MsHurryCane... Unfortunately, she's not really being given much, if any, say in the screenplay, so we have to hope for the best. And Gerard is no doubt too old to play young Jamie... sadly.
I would read anything Diana writes, even (God forbid) a recipe book. I hope some day she writes a series with Jamies parents as the main characters. Thanks Diana for hours of fun....waiting for kids to come out of the school and get into my school bus......for the hours I spent at Doctors and hospitals with my Mother.......and all the times at home that I just wanted to get chores done so I could sit and read one of your stories.
Ive read everything so far. Including the Lord John series. Everybook is rageared and I will read them all again and again. I reservedly lend out my copies and have gotten most of my friends hooked on the series now too. Bravo Dianna, your a wonderful author. Please never stop.
When Outlander first came out, that's how most booksellers insisted on categorizing them, but for at least ten years now they've been found in the gen. lit. section of most stores.
The Outlander series is the best series I have ever read. Diana Gabaldon is an amazing writer. I love the adventure, history, intelligence, humor and romance of these books!
Historical novels often times fall short of allowing the reader to be able to get a good glimpse of a past time. the Outlander story is one of the best. As i read I could see Gerry Butler as Jamie, and as William Wallace. I wish that this very talented writer could bring this same magic to the story of Richard 111 and allow his true story to come out.
I love this series passionately ... the only problem is that I can't put them down once I start and my life kinda falls apart for days on end. It's nice to actually see and hear the woman behind Claire, Jamie and the others.
I think Outlander is the best series I've ever read... my favourite before it was the Clan of the Cave Bear books by Jean Auel, also very good, but Outlander is just so romantic and really nice... not that the other books aren't, they each have their appeal.
@ScottishLiberty it is interesting that you said your other favorite books are Jean Auel's Clan of the Cave Bear series, for it was that series that got me reading this one. I was looking for the newest Jean Auel book at that time - it wasn't in, and I was suggested to read Outlander. I never looked back! mmmmm Jamie. It's his valiance and bravery that have won me over. ahhhhhh, romance!
Oh wow another Gabaldon ... and here i thought my last name wasnt that common :D

I love this series!!! Although I only read up to Drums of Autumn...
Jamie and Claire are my all time favourite couple..love them both.
Claire is so funny, she's just the perfect heroine. I love the fact that she has a strong personality and
isn't one of those wilting/fragile heroines that are always dependent on the hero.
And Jamie, well, I'm totally in love with him and I wish he was a real guy.

I just finished an echo in the bone two days ago then I realised it will be a long time to read about Jamie and Claire again...
I'm really happy that the story goes on because there is still a lot to tell about their adventures, about Brianna too. I can just feel it. :-)

I usually struggle to get into romance novels, but there's something about these characters that really click.
I'm on the last 50 pages of the way through the first one, but good Lord, I've enjoyed the ride so far.
Best romance novels I've had the good fortune to come across. She's marvellously talented.

Probably because they're not romance novels. :)
