  • shit game id never play this crap id rather play and atari or nes than this shit

  • gay

  • metacritic just did this to troll us

  • biggest piece of shit ever 96 my ass!!!

  • Sorry, meant to write 5490

  • If this shit got 96 then Lemonade Tycoon deserves a 549

  • I just played Out of the Park Baseball 2007 and I must say... The Characters are so vivid and the storyline is so emotionally driven.

The game-play has changed the way I think of gaming.

    Nah, just kidding xD

  • this boring shit got 96? wtf is up with that?

  • LADIES AND GENTLEMEN

The second best game of all time

  • Strat-o-matic baseball ftw! It's good that other companies are producing other games though letting baseball history into peoples homes and keeping baseball alive!

  • Wow, this shit is ranked 2nd best of all time on Metacritic? I'd rather play Microsoft Excel than this.

  • Actually, OOTP also uses MLB team names and players and has all prospects as well, down to the lowest level of the minors! In OOTP you can go back to 1871 for historical simulations. Anyway, this is kind of silly to be discussing this on a YouTube video that's 3 years old. :D

  • this game blows! baseball mogul is much much better because it uses mlb team names and mlb players even their prospects in the minors! nothing can compare to it, you can go back 100 years and play with real teams from the 1920's if you wanted its sweet! the gameplay is better and so are the graphics and options to tweak your team, get baseball mogul if you are a real fan that wants to play with real teams and real players!

  • Hey, if it's not your kind of game, so be it. But, if you're into this kind of thing, give it a try! The newest version is coming out in about a month. :)

  • MetaCritic ranks this as the second best game in history. It's not a game...it's a database...ffs!

  • This is the game which is supposed to be better than the Orange Box and Bioshock

  • just what was on my mind >_>

  • is it worth $40? im kind of hesitant to get it because i only have $80 bucks to my name

  • this got a 96 on metascore

  • @getskinnyy It got 5 companies to review it, oh wow.

  • is this free????

  • is anything in life free? (ok, besides Ubuntu linux!)

  • do they have any of these games for macs

  • Yes, the outside of the park series is for mac as well.

  • ultimatebaseballonline(.).com own

  • this game is ok but it doesn't have real players or MLB team names mogul is better

  • It has all real players with faces and team names.

  • Thats completely wrong. It has had real players through the lahman database since the begining of the game.

Since ootp9 you can actually start in 1871.

  • thats very true. but how many players do we know play in 1871?

  • Cap Anson, Ross Barnes, Tricky Nichols, Old Hoss Radbourn, Pud Galvin, King Kelly, should i continue?

Anyway isnt that part of the fun of replaying historical baseball? To learn more about the players of the game.

  • yea i guess so

  • No, You can get real players with real stats and skills.

  • this game looks real i might buy it

  • is this game just mangaing a team, do we get to even play baseball???

  • link plx ru4tehmall

  • I can't. They deleted the thread to cover things up.

Moderation over in OOTPville isn't the most honest and trustworthy bunch.

  • I talked with who posted it, he's a pretty cool guy, he deleted it because it didn't come across how he wanted it to.

  • I already said that OOTP baseball is deeper the BBM. I just prefer a game I can sit back and play and not have to be in involved with with every process.

Thanks for proving that most of you aren't capable of having a decent argument. Backing up stuff with facts=Win. Just saying saying stuff=fail.

  • Just ignore them. You should see their messageboard. One of the OOTP staffers sent these guys over here to get you, sent out the dogs on you man.

Baseball Mogul is the better of the 2 games.

  • Correction: I encouraged people to post well-reasoned statements refuting his statements about OOTP.

  • @battists this is a better game than Baseball Mogul because it's really similer to the 2010 version of Mogul, i find that this game as freeware is awesome

  • OOTP has extremely accurate player aging algorithms based off of the work of tangotiger and very accurate injury rates (sometimes maddeningly accurate, as RL injury frequencies means you're constantly adjusting your lineup and pitching staff to account for them). Does Baseball Mogul even do lefty/righty stats yet?

  • Ok, I am tried of people ranting on how good and how bad each game is. Each game has its own selling points. Question for Johnny, when was the last time you actually bought Baseball Mogul? It was put 2 years ago...Ignorant comments degrading each game is uncalled for. OOTP/BBM Rivalry reminds me of the COKE/PEPSI rivalry. But you must understand one thing, Without the competition, each game wouldn't be as good as it is.

  • I totally agree about the competition, which is why I was bummed out by the fact that Puresim went away this year. That was turning into a nice little competition. I'm sorry, but BM just isn't.

I played the demo last year. For about an hour or so. It's better than the BM I remember playing in 1997, but it's still GM sim lite for better or for worse.

  • Splits and platooning has been in BBM for a couple versions now, as have RL injury frequencies.

  • That's funny because the version I played last year had injuries occurring not nearly often enough. How many players on your teams' disabled lists on average at any given time?

  • Depends on what the options are set on. Leave it at the default (0%) and there are a few minor injuries and maybe one or two major injuries at any given time. Crank it all the way up (100%) and you could well see half of your entire pitching staff out. Injury severity is adjustable as well.

  • There simply is no comparison in terms of depth. Depth of play, depth of stats available, depth of everything. Mogul is a good game if you don't want to think about it too much. IMO it's like comparing Pong to Top Spin for the XBOX ... both involve hitting the ball over the net, but one blows the other away.

  • I've been playing them both since around 2000, they both are decent at what they do. I will play Mogul for about 1-2 months and then I lose interest mainly due to a feeling of been there, done that. With Out of the Park though I never seem to lose that "what's going to happen next season" feeling. If you are a baseball fanatic who craves the deepest you can get in terms of stats, history, and depth I have to give the nod to OOTP 2007. Simply the best career-based baseball simulator out there.

  • Simple, BBM is for those who lack the baseball savvy to handle all of the depth and realism that OOTP offers. I can certainly see why you choose BBM.

  • Out of the Park has been better than Mogul in every way since version 3. I was a huge Mogul fan,I bought, and still have, the original, the 99 version, and the 2000 version. However, when I played OOTP3,there was just no contest. OOTP3 did everything better, more detailed stats, more control over EVERYTHING.

Everything else though,OOTP owns it. Mogul is not for the hardcore,Mogul is for beginners,OOTP is the next step, and OOTP 2007 is the greatest text based baseball sim ever released. PERIOD.

  • Most of the minuses against Ootp dont really apply anymore after the newest addition . Much faster sims times, wizards to help you along, interface much cleaner, easy to use expansion, historical play more accurate than ever. And really the biggist plus compared to BBM . Is able to create a totally unqiue baseball universe of your choice. One a league with a division in every state doable. A league to rival MLB in europe doable ect ect

  • ok i played baseball mogul and i instantly turned gay. i had to play ootp to become man again

  • - supports historical or fictional (IN BBM)

    - customizable news articles and game recaps that appear in the in-game news system and on online league web sites (BBM HAS)

    - online league support (BBM HAS)

    - hundreds of league, team, player, and historical html reports (BBM HAS)

    - scouting system (BBM HAS)

    - customizable logos and jerseys (BBM HAS (for logos anyway))

    - full play-by-play or "one-pitch" modes in-game (BBM HAS)

    - accurate player development model (BBM has)

  • More OOTP pluses: - completely flexible league creation - supports historical or fictional - customizable news articles and game recaps that appear in the in-game news system and on online league web sites - online league support - hundreds of league, team, player, and historical html reports - scouting system - customizable logos and jerseys - in-game help system, detailed manual, and video tutorials - full play-by-play or "one-pitch" modes in-game - accurate player development model
  • So in short, I agree that Baseball Mogul is less detailed, but not all of us are stat obsessed and just want a quick, fun, simulation. If you are of the hardcore-simulation crowd, then I suggest getting OOTP. But we can agree on one thing, though; Puresim is failure.

  • So what you're saying is, OOTP is too hard for you to understand. Gotcha.

  • BBM PROS- -Quicker and easier to get into -Runs faster -Play-by-Play animations (still a bit rough, though) -Menus aren't confusing/cumbersome -Better for historic play -Encyclopedia BBM Cons- -Rough UI -Lack of Minor League Support -A few less features then OOTP -Lack of Expansion Draft support (Clay is working on this, not sure if it's in OOTP or not, forgot)
  • I can't sit back here and keep quiet when you say that BBM is better for historic play. That's complete hogwash. I played the version of the public beta and it's been updated a number of times by the time I got to it. I ran a 100 year historic sim and the numbers weren't even close to realistic. The all time HR king had less than 400. If BBM is "better for historic play" this wouldn't have happened.

  • OOTP PROS-

    -More player detail

    -Cleaner UI

    -Facegen

    -A few more features

-Better support for minor league teams

    OOTP CONS-

    -Slower

-Requires alot more effort to use and get into

    -Menus can be cumbersome

  • If someone can give me some legit reasons why OOTP is better then Baseball Mogul, I will forever admit that OOTP is a better series. Why? Because OOTP *isn't better*. All everyone has said is that it sucks, haven't given any reasons.

Just makes you all look like idiots and have nothing backup your arguments with. GG.

  • Hey guys, we're talking about games. There are demo versions available. Everybody just try them, and see yourself, OK? I've played BM and LOVED it. Cool game. Then I've tried OOTP. Never played BM again! It's just like mentioned above, Mogul is a baseball sim with training wheels. But hey try the demos, make up your own mind.

  • Then you're an idiot who has obviously never played the game.

  • Things that Mogul does better than OOTP: Allow you to set hot dog prices, kindle friendships between players.

Things that OOTP does better than Mogul: Everything else.

  • Baseball Mogul is a better game? Are you on crack, dude? It's not even close! It's not really a matter of opinion; it's fact.

  • Nothing at all, I'm just being honest. I've played both, I've actually played OOTP since 1999, and while I still buy each version every year, starting around ~2002's versions, I started to gravitate more around BBM. It's really just a better game. Are there weaknesses? Sure. Are there things that OOTP does better then BBM? Sure. Don't be sad because people disagree with you. Not my fault that you choose to be loyal to the lesser franchise.

  • Oh, I'm not sad. I just think you're lying, that's all.

  • I wonder how much Babrook was paid by Baseball Mogul to spread the lie Mogul's anywhere close to OOTP.

  • Not even close to Baseball Mogul. The only thing that OOTP has over Mogul is the Facegen bit, which really isn't that big of a deal.

  • Mogul is a baseball sim with training wheels. When you're ready to play a grown-up sim, you know where to find OOTP.

  • First is the worst. Second is the best.

  • First!
