btw, how do you like the word Massenkommunikationsdienstleistungsunternehmen?

(company for services of mass communication)

    TAHTS a long word xD

  • i followed the title as he was saying it

  • the word must look aweful to non-germans

  • Captain Slow is full of all sorts of useful information

  • I don't know why but when James started speaking German i found myself curiously attractived to him.

  • doppelkupplungsgetriebe

    dualclutchtransmission

    one letter difference ;)

  • @PianoandCarcrack94 in english it's three words. :P

  • It's just as long as it is in Swedish, dubbelkopplingsväxellåda ^^

  • Doubleclutchsystem not that hard ore ....

  • THAT'S A LONG WORD

  • the reason why German words are sometimes very long is just that you can combine words to form a new one. Doppelkupplungsgetriebe isn't that much longer than doubleclutchgearbox would be...

  • @RISCy27 But why not keep them as separate words?

  • @TheSirPrise Since it is a functional unit, it makes sense to combine the words. There are a lot of English words that use the same logic like, bedroom, toothpaset, haircut, fireplace, everyday, commonsense and so forth but on other occasions the words are separate. In this respect the English language seems very inconsistent to me...

  • @RISCy27 not only that but morphologically double clutch gear box is one word just like Doppelkupplungsgetriebe. The clue for that is in emphasis and what it means. I.e.: a district manager is not a district, it's a manager, but a particular type of manager, so "district manager" is a new word just like "Bezirksvorstehender" is. Writing tends to be misleading sometimes, but if you talk to a kid, it will recognize compound words as having a non-derived meaning without knowing how to spell it.

  • Does anyone know what James May said? I'd love to know. Thanks, Wendy. :)

  • @TrendyyWendyy Uh, he said what it meant. "Naturally, Hans is wet, he's standing under a waterfall."

  • Donaudampfschifffahrtsgesellschaftskapitänkajütentürsicherheitsschlossschlüssel

That's the longest german word :D

  • Some say that he can say doppelkupplungsgettriebe 20 times fast while doing a lap in a Veyron! All we know is, he's not called Dick Hammond!

  • Kupplung...not a sound I like to hear coming from a transmission.

  • Comment removed

  • Donaudampfschiffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft

is one of the longest word in german, numbers in german are even longer

  • it stands for double clutch transmission

  • Dop-pull-kupp-lungs-gehtr-ee-ba

  • it's a DSG Gearbox

  • lol James!! fuck he is funny. Anyway, that car was meant to be light so , sometimes jeremy can say stupid things, the FXX doesn't have a stereo either, and that's for the sake of lightweightnes.

  • @68thelzeppelin uhh its not road legal.

  • @ANoobsGuide uhh but the boxster is legal and very very light

  • Das Auto

  • why german people have to put together all this phrase double clutch gear box why dont you just say three different words

  • @nikobellic1995pan

    because its german

  • @nikobellic1995pan

why don't you use one word instead? It's one item, why not use one word for it?

  • Even simple words in English can be very long in German.

    World Cup: Weltmeisterschaft

    Contraception: Schwangerschaftverhütungsmittel

  • This is why I love the german language - no silly word combinations. Just stick it all together and get it over with!

  • Doppel = double

    kupplung = clutch

    Getriebe = transmission

    doubleclutchtransmission

  • lol it means double clutch transmission

  • Natürlich Hans nass ist, wird er unter einem Wasserfall stehend

  • Not even a long word...

  • James is so droll....possible the best at reacting.

  • That's actually the shortest German word in existence.

  • @LaughingOutKraut And te longest is Donaudampfschifffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft!

  • @ptango666 That word doesn't make any sense.

  • @ptango666 Oh yes it does!! I´m german!

  • @ptango666 Ich auch. Macht keinen Sinn.

  • @LaughingOutKraut

I can tell u the longest one and thats Donaudampfschifffahrtsgesellschaftskapitän;)

  • @Mitternachtskind1995 that´s the second longest word actually...some law had a longer name. something with beef...

  • @Lilithly

at least it was the longest one last summer;)

  • go on google translate... its double clutch gearbox

  • @brandoncoolboy23 its double clutch Transmision

  • double clutch gearbox

  • @xXUSMCGRIFFXx , yeah, I used Google Translate, I'm sure most of us did after watching this...

  • Try and spell doubleclutchgearbox for a German who doesn't understand English, I'll bet you he'll laugh...

  • For all of those wondering, the Doppelkupplungsgetriebe translates directly into English as the "Double-Clutch Gearbox"

  • I am german and I can understand it!

  • This is the correct translation (I hope) for James' sentence... Natürlich Hans nass ist, ist er unter einem Wasserfall stehen.

  • @TheProgGuy He says "Aber ja, natürlich Hans ist nass, er steht unter dem Wasserfall", but it's correct like this "Aber ja, natürlich ist Hans nass, er steht..."

    Good attempt though

  • @TheProgGuy its wrong, sry

  • @blub3145 I tried every translator possible and I don't even hear anything similar.

  • the funny thing is that people from a land with the steering wheel on the wrong side make fun of a tecnical part of a car XD greetings from germany

  • @ONeill6564 I think you will find it is on the right side ;) heheh get it? ... oh my lame British humour...

  • press 6 for jeremy spluttering and 7 for james' german

  • it says "lungs" in the middle of the word:P we know why thats there:P

  • Doppel - Double

    Kupplungs - Clutch

Getreibe - Transmission or "Gear Box"

Jesus fuck im from scotland im 15 and even I know what that means

  • @The666thBowelOfHell "Jesus fuck". What a strange thing to write, even for youtube.

  • @farlcoon What?

  • @The666thBowelOfHell Jesus fuck you spelled Getriebe wrong.

  • @davosat Oh my god, im so sorry, are you ok?

  • Comment removed

  • @The666thBowelOfHell No I am retarded.

  • @The666thBowelOfHell Yes and we all know that you used google translate to find out what it means

  • @xDemonGTRx Obviously...

  • @The666thBowelOfHell You're 15. You get to spend your time learning new languages, and not being a daft cunt bitching about cars.

  • @Artisn "Scotland" though

  • @The666thBowelOfHell "15" though. Nice of ya to sell yourself short. Realize you're living in an age where living in Scotland isnt an excuse to be stupid, or to self depreciate in the lulz.

  • @Artisn :L Im just fooling around

  • @The666thBowelOfHell only that its getriebe and not getreibe. in the right sentence getreibe would be sexually offensive.

  • @The666thBowelOfHell they said that as a joke you nob it seems your 15 and don't know anything after all.

  • @william199712 Aw fuck off you prick

  • @The666thBowelOfHell yeah you know im right because you didn't deny it.

  • @william199712 No that was a quick reply because I know your a prick and i cant be arsed arguing with you

  • @william199712 lets settle this he has 67 thumbs up and he is from scotland

    you have none.

  • @The666thBowelOfHell did you use google translate?

  • @jai2510 No

  • @The666thBowelOfHell To be fair, it's easier to remember languages when you use them regularly or have just learnt them in school. It's been several decades since that happened for them.

  • @pepperminttea42 Thank you for your constructive critisisim, other than the shit i've been getting :)

  • @The666thBowelOfHell No worries. :) Don't let it get to you - some people just come on youtube with their asshole hat on. :P

  • @pepperminttea42 Lol, I aint!! and thanks again

  • @The666thBowelOfHell im twelve and scottish and i got that

  • @LewisMenzies Wow, that's really awesome, well done man!!!! :D

  • haha stupid brtitish

  • @logelamutp British*

  • I heard

Aber ja naturlich hans is nass er steht unter den wasserfall

  • The funny thing is, double clutch gear box is only 3 letters shorter, longer with the spaces.

  • Gt3 rs doesn't have door handles either..

  • i think it's a just a double clutch gearbox. any germans in the house?

  • Aber ja, natürlich Hans nass ist, er steht unter einem Wasserfall."

Lol, quote of the day :)

  • Even with D335Media's comment I can't figure out the german part of what James is saying. It's like "ewtrwtwhdcfhsfHans ist nass, er steht unter dem Wasserfall", and that's from a native speaker...

  • in US and Canada and UK we use the space bar, a lot.

  • I think Doppelkupplungsgetriebe is a fucking epic name for a gearbox!

  • @ROCKSOLID19 All it means is "double clutch transmission". It's just the German word for that. XD

  • @DeltaPhi79 I know what it is.

  • that stands for dual clutch

  • It means double-clutch gear box

  • i didn't have any problems pronouncing it the first time i read it :p

i'm flemmish, maybe thats why x)

  • 75 people are under a waterfall.

  • it means double-clutch gear box

  • It's like a German has out sneezed words... :L

  • No door handles. oh gawd

  • PRONUNCIATION is as follows;

Dop u cot plunk se tree b e

  • James obviously used the same German text book at school that we did. Think it was called "Sprich Mal Deutsch". Hearing him say that took me way back to Mr Davidson's German class in the 70s!!

  • ennek szónak nincs is értelme

  • It's pronounced Doppelkupplungsgetriebe. Easy...

  • i am german and i don't get a single word james sayed XDD

  • Porsche is nice but they get monotone in the design. The panamera is good looking but is the same style the boxter is the same 911

  • google translate is double clutch gearbox

  • @10yroldcarlover did you read top comment? its says already that

  • @blackness010 you thought he was lying

  • FKING FUNNY HHAHAHA THE WAY HAMMOND SPELLS IT HAHAHAAHAHA

  • i actually hate it when jeremy is making fun of german(s)

but this video is just hilarious :D

  • say it like....dopel kuplungs getribe

  • james german is better then my english teachers :O

  • Doppelkupplungsgetriebe in romana Dublu-ambreiaj cutie de viteze

  • thumbs up if when he spelt it you followed along with the title

  • "Aber ja, natürlich Hans nass ist, er steht unter einem Wasserfall."

  • false grammar :'D i mean the german sentence, u should try bavarian ;) oachkatzlschwoaf

  • i'm german and i can't understand the german sentences may says, only the translation - rofl

  • @blub3145 Aber ja, natuerlich Hans ist nass, er steht unter den Wasserfall

und ich bin nicht Deutsch! :p

  • @blub3145 Am I right if I say that the verb should be last in sentence?

  • @Kyoshomies

In German? no, its normally 2nd in a sentence

  • @blub3145 Ok. I remembered wrong :D

  • Naturally Hans is wet, he's standing under a waterfall.

  • it means Double-clutch gearbox

  • germany vlove top gear!!^^

  • Donaudampfschifffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft

  • @Freimopp777: HAHA! Das ist gut! Ich kenne nur "Donaudampfschifffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerk" There are some pretty long words in german!

  • @124simran & @Theninja347 I know that, but I only said that's the longest word coming in my mind. But also Doppelkupplungsgetriebe isn't so difficult.

  • Google ist jetzt sehr gut in der Übersetzung fast jeder Sprache in Bezug auf die grammatische Korrektheit.

  • @124simran I wanted to prove that it wasn't a difficult word, since all the words were international, i.e. that they are pretty much the same in all languages. Don't think I spelt it wrong, unless you regard not having a space, a spelling error.

  • german is not a nice sounding language...

  • James May sounds very German.

  • The word "double clutch gearbox" is just 4 letters shorter, if you count that spaces, it´s just 1! plus, brits: please try to say the word and you´ll see, it´s not hard at all! the "ie" in "Getriebe" is pronounced as if it was spelled "ee", the "e" at the end sounds like the end of "easier" and everythings fine...

  • Try this: Konstantynopolitańczykowianeczka :D

  • I'M German and can't understand a word of the "german" sentence :D steht unter dem Wasserfall (stands under the Waterfall) is the only thing I can understand :D

  • @SaschaBMG09 "Aber ja natürlich, Hans ist nass! Er steht unter dem Wasserfall!" Habs auch erst verstanden, als mein britischer Schwiegervater es auch gesagt hat!

  • James May is My Hero!

  • I'm German. I love it ♥ :D

But this word is quite easy in contrast to this: Telekommunikationsinfrastruktur, the longest German word I know^^

  • @MrsGingerLady Telecommunicationsinfrastructure. I'm sure you could add a space in there if you want. One word made up by just international words isn't too difficult.

  • mazda is going to be launching an MX5 with a suspiciously similar roof to that porsche

  • The look on Clarksonsface when he's like "g"

Oh and since I'm German I should be able to understand what James says but other then the waterfall part I wasn't able to understand a word...

  • That word vs pnumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolconiosis :)

  • Hammonds 'okay' is hillarious lmao

  • i'm german, but except the word "wasserfall" i didn't understand a single word from James May's "German" xD i don't want to say that german is a easy language, but "dubble-clutch-gearbox" or "doppel-kupplungs-getriebe" there isn't that much difference..

  • naturaly his hands are wet, he's standing under a waterfall... I use it all the time!

  • richard: its a Doppelkupplungsget...r...ie...b...e. LOL!!! XD!

  • @1marco7kamp yes, i did watch the video... no need to quote it

  • Doppelkupplungsgetriebe vs. antidisestablishmentarianism

  • @hotknight2000 Ich auch nicht haha ... Me neither...xD

  • google transle......JUST LISTEN TO THAT WORD :DD ahahha xD

  • Now do you want to combine your love of camping with your love of bombing the wrong porsche? Maybe. :)

  • DSG ;)
