i used to play the violin in school. But i had to quit when i moved :'( it's been YEARS. i really want to play another instrument. and i was thinking Ukulele but i know nothing. do you think i can do it? with the help of youtube?lol
Your lesson is the first one which I was able to understand and also follow. Everyone on here seems to think that we are all experts before we start. Very helpful. Thanks
I'd suggest you teach the beginners to use third finger, third fret, high string for a "C" chord, not second finger. Start them out with correct fingering.
@k1lp1k0nn4 I got that same problem. I'm tuning it with an online tuner but it never sounds like what youtube ukelele players use, even if they say their tuning is "standard"
@avenger1000 i play with some of the guys in rebel souljahs and they actually tune them flat cause I have a chromatic tuner and I couldnt figure out why they always were lower
Thanks for the straightforward video. By the way, anyone trying to play along and in standard tuning (A440) will find it impossible. Just take the suggestions and turn off the sound; otherwise you'll think you got something wrong. If you're into blues, he's playing a rough 8-bar. If you think this way the "random" fingering will make more sense and you can do the three-chord mess about with that in your head.
Question: I've never played an instrument before but I want to learn how to play the ukulele. would it be easier to start with the guitar and then switch over ?
Thank You! Im tying to figure out what kind of ukelele to get. i found out there is soprano, and tenor? what does that mean and which one do you recommend to get?
i'm waiting on my uke. u make this look so easy...and it sounds soo coool! u can be sure this is the 1st thing i'll be trying out on my new uke...I CAN'T WAIT!!
Real amazing. Thanks for the upload. I was so awestruck when i seen the teenagers in Hawaii playing the ukelele. Their skills were so good i had to pay one teen to play us another song. Then when i got back from vacation, i bought one, without any skills haha. But hopefully i learn a thing off of this. :)
I'm a bit confused here - when you are demonstrating the G chord ( at about 1m 50s ) the caption says '2nd string 3rd fret and 1st string 2nd fret' but that does not seem to be what your fingers are showing...well done for opposing vivisection by the way...
That's the one I just got as a gift! I like it, but it's nylon strings and in the video it's steel, so it sounds really different. Also, I'm not sure I'm tuning it right.
there are 4 different kinds of ukuleles. Baritone, Tenor, Concert, and Saprano. which basicly they are just sizes. i recamending looking it up for more details but Saprano is the smallest, like 14INs then Concert is has a biger base and longer neck. Tenor, just bigger in base and the neck. then Baritone is the most different and unpopular ukulele. it is the biggest and its tuned completely different from the others. its like the bottom 4 string ofs a guitar.
Thanks for the video. I play guitar and have seen some guitarists tune their uke like the high 4 strings of the guitar. Is it better to tune like this or tune to standard uke tuning? Thanks Jeff
his is D tuning yours is most likely to be C tuning, dont worry your one is the more common, if u put a capo on the first fret and played then it would sound the same as this guy, its just because ur strings are all a step lower (i think) or maybe its higher, i get confused coz u sorta go left and right on the fret instead of up and down so if the capo sounds strange its my mistake not urs, i dntsound so itelligent anymore do i? lol hope i helped

G is jus like a triangle on the bottom 3 strings middle finger on the bottom string 2nd fret
first finger on the 2nd string (so u jus hop over one) on the 2nd fret also
amd your 4th finger on the string betwenn your other two on fret higher (closer to the body of the guitar) should make a triangle shape
G7 first finger 3rd string first fret.
two remaining fingers one fret up either side, triangle shape but reversed trinagle like pointing ther other way if u get me? hope i helped
