thanks for ruining the song and editing out the best part i didn't even want to watch your shitty little video. i hope trent reznor comes and abuses you for your butchery
It wasn't bad. My favorite part was the credits. I think the choice of song was perfect and I"m glad you went the instrumental over lyrics for it. All it really takes is those first 3 piano notes to give any NiN fan a jolt of pain that feels like being stabbed with a satin covered knife. I almost think it's worse with no lyrics, it lets you fill in the lyrics mental, which somehow makes it sadder to me.
It's also good to see NiN inspiring other people artistically:)
Let me make a note since not many people are getting it. You are welcome to leave CONSTRUCTIVE criticism over this video that was shot over half a decade ago. But if it is not constructive and just plain rude and immature, your comment will be deleted, and your user name will be banned from this video. Thank you.
@dreaminfinity It's beautiful, I can't find a single thing to criticize. It resonates deeply with me, and even if it did not in the manner that it has, I would still recognize it's beauty.
i wasnt phased by it... i mean i wanted to accept the emotion that your video had, but i found it hard to understand. I mean your basically screaming the death of the husband at the end... but what did he die of? I think it would be better if you made it longer
@Boowey116 art is left up for interpretation, so interpret how you like it, and stop being so damned critical. Its a brilliant vid. It could be about a loved one lost in war, in a shooting, who cares..it could be about a break-up...point is, someone lived is lost....if you don't get that, then just stop watching and listening to Trent Reznor and NIN
Brings a tear to my eye, honestly. This particular song has some meaning to me as well, in some of my darker memories. Very nicely put to video, thank you.
my auntie passed away a month ago and i really needid someone to be there then i listend to this song and after it i found my girlfriend who i have been with for ages now thanks nin
I remember when my doctor put me on Klonopin for my panic attacks. I ended up becoming suicidal, due to a side effect from the drug. While I was attempting suicide one night while extremely high off the drug, I found time to make a video of me slitting my wrists to this song. I find the song very...disturbing and bone chilling now.
@superchristian102 I thought of taking medicine but i think maybe mines r not that bad like i've hyperventilated twice i feel very anxious most of the times but i'm afraid of taken meds exactly for that purpose i've tried to kill myself more times than years i am old so i guess i think the panic attacks aren't really that bad.
I've recently lost both my parents so this song has helped me get the tears out because while I'm with people, I have to be the strong one. I can listen to this song alone and just let the tears fall. It's theraputic.
Leaving Hope... it's a song that I swear is depression translated perfectly into musical form. Perfectly captures the feeling of wanting something that can never be.
One of my favorite, i usually smoke a cigarette when listening to this song. Calms the nerves, and frees the mind. Thanks for the upload, great video by the way
Pretty good. I'm military, as is my wife. This is the type of thing I hope we never have to endure, and it's set to one of my favorite NIN songs. Sad, yet beautiful.
Glad you agree, I just have so much of an imagination, that songs like this make me think of past experiences and also things that has the same feel as the songs, this song makes me strongly think of a foggy road walking endlessly, then I realise it is Silent Hill! lol
love this song , very touching :) i love the frail aswell alot , especially when trent plays it live on the NIN dvd from 2002. i wonder if NIN has anymore beautiful songs like this one or the frail ? or if anyone knows any other band that make songs like this :) tnx.
Listen to 'La Mer' by them or 'Adrift and at Peace' or 'Gone, Still' another one is 'Another Version of the Truth' There are many songs that are slow and very warming like this, there is about one song like this per album (exeption of Broken), however not all are instrumental. A great album for you to buy if you enjoy his instrumental work is the album 'Ghosts I-IV' because it is over two hours of instrumental music.
Listen to A Warm Place, Adrift and at Peach, La Mer, and The Great Below. The last two aren't instrumentals, but they do strike me as equally beautiful. :]
dont start arguments, just listen, come up with your own story to the song, this song really hits home with me, im a corpsman in the navy, and a long time fan of nine inch nails, this song got me through some rough times. bravo trent, bravo.

Just so you know I think it's a beautiful tragic video and I think you did a very good job on it. I think it tells a story if you pay attention to it. I've lost alot in the war too.
i agree with Suidakkra ya dick its a song called leaving hope not anything about 9/11 and even if it was it would be about the people loosing a loved one
How can someone be over something like that? Seriously man, fucking think!! If you lost someone close to you due to that, would you be such an asshole? Dick!
What do you mean by we're not over this yes "?". who said it was a tribute, and why should it matter even if it was relating to the towers collapsing? relating a song with a real life subject that captures it is making art, and thats what this video is.
I saw your video on the website but I lost track of it, I'm glad you decide it to upload it to YouTube. It's my favorite video (outside the official videos) using the song Leaving Hope.
Very nice movie. The music works perfectly. My only criticsm is that you could have used a pathetic falesy to strengthen the melancholy of the story, but thats kind of uncontrollable, so it's fine really. All in all, some beautiful shots. 5/5
Great video... I create short movies myself, and I think the music choise for this movie is absolutely perfect. I like the mood-setting in the beginning where you shot al those flowers, and that you don't really see in that flashback how the male person looks like. You only see his eyes, just enough to see it's a boy.
Really touching.
