You should try the HMG. I don't know if it does anything against reactive armor, but it certainly stands a much better chance than the LMG that's for sure haha

@bluebells420 I suggest shooting the guided shell first though, before he gets the chance to see you, because it takes so long to lock on, it's best to surprise him with the guided shell, then hit him with a regular one.

i would suggest staying on the main gun and swiching to the GS if the situation is right

Ya, on console you can't turn the tank that fast. I also like being situationally aware so I prefer proximity scan to reactive armor.

to do more damage and combo to enemy tanks is using guided missiles, it does more damage if you do the combo with normal and guided missile

@L0C0OO7 My friend has a mouse with buttons that can toggle different sensitivity levels with a press of it. Not saying that what they are using, but my friend used it in BF:BC2 Vietnam for the tanks and could turn the turret super fast.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know you could control where you got out when you need to repair your tank. I can't tell you how many times I died because I would always seem to pop out facing the bad guys.

Tanks are too over powered. Reactive armor should not regenerate, it should be one time use. Watched one tank in a tunnel survive 15 min with an entire team hitting it with RPGs the entire time! It's just crazy how one or two men and sit behind a tank and heal it with another tank and 5 guys bombarding it with RPGs. I use the tanks a lot as well and I telling u it needs to be nurfed as far as its armor and the repair tool as well. Bf3 is awesome! This will make it even better.

Nice tip regarding exiting the tank and Reactive Armor ! What are your thoughts on the Canister Shell vs the Guided Shell? Personally I use the Guided Shell a lot more, although the disadvantage is enaging infantry. From the rear, you disable/kill MBTs quite fast with the Guided Shell/AP combo (after lock and shot, press 1 and shoot for a kill).

i have tested the reactive armor coming back when you exit the tank and re-enter,

the graphic shows that you got armor back BUT actually you didnt, see the tank symbol on the bottom center of the screen, if u have reactive armor that symbol has lines around it, if you get shot the lines dissapear... and they dont come back untill you get a repair, and interestingly you need aprx 2secs of repair over 100% to get reactive armor back also.

The switching in between ammo types also works for mortar teams, if you are suppressing the enemy and covering your capture teams with smoke toggle back and forth between HE shells and smoke shells for faster firing.

Another tip: hop in and point your 50 cal to the rear then do the same with your CITV station, then switch back to the driver's seat and go cruise around. When you need to hop out and repair, change seats. It helps when you get in a pickle and can't easily get out. And this video is spot-on with how I generally play on the smaller maps; it's wicked nasty on Damavand Peaks.

I found that in a Tank vs Tank battle, I almost always win when using a Tank Shell and Guided Shell. Fire the Tank Shell, then switch and lock the Guided Shell, once you switch back you'll have the Tank Shell again, then just wait for the Tank Shell if a 4th shot is needed since the Guided Shell won't reload that fast. So you can have 4 shells fired in the time they only have 3. And if you have autoloader you fire even slightly faster for that Tank Shell.

I had the proximity sensor glitch nicely for me last night; gunner had it, gunner got out, and I still had the sensor untill I died :)

I usually run assault with 320 smoke. I've found that smoking the area directly in front of or on top of a tank will give your team's engineers enough time to deal with the threat.

It's not as useful as spawning as an engineer yourself, but if your caught unexpectedly as as assault who happens to have smoke, it's somewhat useful.

One more thing: if a gunner is using proximity sensor, the driver will have that in addition to whatever other passive perk. So you could have reactive armor and the proximity sensor both at once.

Also, the proximity sensor + canister shell + thermal optics is fantastic for close quarters/ nighttime engagements, like street fighting in Seine Crossing and the cluttered Damavand Peak. You can see everything.

On larger maps like Op Firestorm I prefer reactive + zoom optics, and maybe guided shell

Tip - if someone gets in a tank using the proximity sensor, that tank has the sensor for the rest of its life even without anyone in it using the sensor. Not sure how useful that is though!
