@sharperguy Also: You were right the first time about serotonin depletion. Basically most of the effect from MDMA is a result of a large release of serotonin. However, because its usually a long-term acting neruotransmitter, it replenishes at a much slower rate than something like dopamine, and lower levels of serotonin are partially what causes the "comedown" effect.

Wow. A bunch of biased drug users promoting a drug using a sub-par study that only gets published one unknown journal. This study was only a field test. Used a very small study pool of 111 participants that are all part of the "Rave Culture" over a very short period of time. Not only does the study prove itself to be inconclusive but it also contradicts the reasearchers own findings. On top of that HashburyNews uses false examples of this drug fixing marriages and PTSD in one treatment.

MDMA definitely causes brain damage. To me, laboratory results on rats and primates are overwhelming enough, especially when coupled with dozens of studies finding correlations between MDMA use and memory/attention deficits. One should assume this compound is neurotoxic anyways even if the truth has not yet been ascertained.

MDMA is not "safe." It is safer than most other drugs, but gathered empirical evidence from peer reviewed studies supports that MDMA can damage serotonergic axons. Google "MDMA cognition" and "MDMA neurotoxicity."

MDMA is simply another derivative of the popular "amphetamine" compound (look it up if you're not familiar with it). The primary effects of MDMA are on serotonin in the brain, with a small effect on dopamine. It causes excesive serotonin release in your brain that can and WILL cause your serotonin receptors and neurons to DIE from overactivity. However, these negative symptoms are primarily with chronic (contnued) use of the drug. Educate yourself people. It can be dangerous.

i can't remember if it was shulgin (the creator of mdma) or his wife, but one of them simply couldn't take MDMA anymore because it made them anxious. so i support mdma research and even the use of it once in a while, but overdoing anything in this world aka abusing it - will get you in trouble.
