Btw I used to have the same guitar but got fed up of the bloody thing slipping off my lap all the time! But I think it did affect my playing, then again bad workman always blame their tools eh?
when coming back to you after some time, your cover still holds up well, definitely among the better of the many attempts here. Now that I have just as nice mic as you do I was planning to do it too, but cant seem to find the patience and energy for it.
@eddields actually I'm working on it, fuelled by an unexpected request from my guitar playing daughter, I think I got something..but I'm afraid I won't be able to reproduce your fancy glass porch :-(
This song brings tears to my eye's, I loved this song the first time I heard it! You do a superb cover, I love the way you perform both voices, great job! Oh, btw, I am from Philadelphia, born and raised!
I knew the voice was bad - but bringing tears to your eyes??? But seriously - thank you for the nice words, I am grateful for the time you took to express them. I fly into Philadelphia at the end of this month in transit to Las Vegas - I've never been to Philly before so I am looking forward to the brief transit stop.
very nice! (and lotsa reverb :-) Im currently working on this song to see if I can get it right, if possible I would like to include some of the riffs but currently dont know how hard they are to mimic.
i guess the reverb is a combination of the glass panelling and the mic settings - I am not a good enough guitarist to do the riffs so I wish you lots of luck with that one!! Thank for the nice comments- its nice to have the support of fellow musicians -- best regards
@eddields From your playing on this clip I'd say youre good enough to play some riffs too if you chose to go for it. Yes its another discipline and you need to buy an electric and have some dedication and stubborness and put time on it, but if you keep at it, you can have a lot of fun with it, and probably do things you never thought was possible. A nice property of the electric phrases on this one is they are slow, they dont rely on speed, so to me they sound negotiable.
Nicely done Eddie! The tone of your guitar matches perfect with your vocals. What make guitar is that? I'm a Hamond B-3 & trumpet player myself - I know nothing about guitars.
Its an ovation 7561 I believe -- I bought it from a store in Nashville la couple of years ago and picked it up in Washington DC when i was visiting there a couple of weeks later - good old Ebay -- thnaks for your kind comments and for taking the time to listen
Thank you Eddie, I didn't realize you were in the UK. I just started doing this whole youtube thing. I like the sound of your mike so yes it would be great to compare the notes! I am always looking for better equipment. Keep up the good work .. I will send you my first Knopfler song cover link when I have one! See how much you care! I am in Tacoma WA.
Hi there - I checked out the MIc details - it is an ADK A-51 mic - the company I bought it from doesn't seem to be selling on ebay anymore but there are lots of other vendors - the price has gone up and you can get an uprated ADK 51S for around $199 - this mic is used for top rated artists such as JT - Ray Charles etc etc
it was a mic i bought on ebay from the States - came as a two mic pack along with a thin condenser mic, cost me about £90 for both along with P&P --- I will try and find the link and post it on your channel... Thanks for listening and commenting
Another great cover!!! Do you know "All That Matters"? That's one of Mark"s songs that my group covers...would love to hear you do it if you have time!!!
would like that very much - the vocals do need an upgrade - I haven't been to that neck of the woods but I have travelled to many other parts of the USA - maybe Denver will be on my next itinerary
I just love this song and have been searching for a good cover without any luck, until now! This was very good! I love your voice. You sound a lot like James Taylor.
wish the vocals were better - but I just loved this collaboration between two of my favourite singers and guitarists - wonderful track - thanks so much for your kind words about my efforts
Well played, nice cover, thanks
