@mikei4455 They're good. CIV 5 has to be the best yet in my opinion. The sad part is that the units no longer speak in their native language whenever you select them (this was implemented in CIV 4), the overall feel is great when you progress. Another downside is that they got rid of wonders videos and ending cinematics when you win by space race or conquest and such.

Save up money for that dream rig, you'll be damn happy when you do.

AOE was a mindless mass and attack for idiots, absolutely no strategy. plus that game put you in control of only an army, this game puts you in control of a country or empire.

not really, but there are tactical invasion strategies that take place on a global scale. Play Civ 5 and once you get good at it and start campaigns of conquest you'll feel like Adolf Hitler.

Biggest mistake of your life (well, in civ 3 anyway!) if you disregard shields, trade and commerce. An automated worker usually wastes his time building on hills and mountains and irrigates on the most unnecessary places i.e. out of boundaries from a city that can actually use them... and don EVER overlook trade...it will keep your citizens happy and gain closer ties with the civ youre trading with +added output of markets and banks. This however, makes piracy a bigger problem, (or asset) lol

What i don't get in this game and in civ 4 is that cities play a total different role in civ 3 the more cities you make the more money you have and in civ 4 the more you make the less you have until you discover currency and then you can set your cities to just make money.

i just got this game and the expansion packs simply to play the Mystara mod at civfanatics site. im an oooold dungeons and dragons player so the insanely detailed Mystara mod made my mouth water and it was so worth it. this game is awesome any way you play it.

Civilization 3 is the best Civilization game of all. Civilization 2 was good but undeveloped and not fully realized, and Civilization 4 just plain sucks ass. Civilization 3 is the one that has flavor AND complexity, and lacks unnecessary hindrances and stupid complications like those found in Civilization 4.

I choose race based on traits.. Almost always Egypt, since religious and industrious is very nice. Religious - quick temple, cathedral and 1 turn of anarchy. Industrious - workers build real fast, 2 turn roads at the start, 1 turn fully upgraded and 1 turn railroad.

The things like [Religion] And [Millitaristic] Are really good to take into mind. you should pay more attention to them, then the special unit. After all te special unit, will be obsolete about 30turns after you make it.

Hmm...You should be good on ram but I'm not familiar with the atom processor. The game is pretty old, it might work. These are the specs in the instruction manual:

OS: Win 98/Me/2000/XP (works on Vista as well)

Processor: Pentium II 400 MHz

Memory: 64 MB, 128 MB recommended

HD Space: 1.2 GB

CD ROM Drive: 4x or higher

Graphics/Sound: Any compatible with DirectX 8.1 or higher and Windows

I was able to run this on my old Gateway from 1999 back in the day if that helps at all...

Ive had an elite knight attack my regular modern armor defending a town size settlement (while fortified, both full health) and kill it! i was pissed. Oh i also agree i like this better than civ4

the norse unit is stacked but it is expensive and I believe it requires more resources. I like being the Indians. Religious means no anarchy and faster culture, commercial means less corruption, plus their special unit needs less resources and doesn't slow down a leader's movements in an army unit
