Cloud never 'took' the title of soldier, he was built soldier from a common infantry man, but I dont think he was happy with it at the end. People around him call him soldier, but he never calls himself that.

actually, i went back and played the game and Cloud was a rookie in SOLDIER during the Genova incident that drove Sephiroth mad. After that and losing his partner Leon, he quit and went mercenary, working for anyone with the cash to hire him. thats when he wound up being hired b the freedom fighters and the game begins from there.

To be honest, while it was heavily centered on Cloud (the title was just to be cute), my main goal was just to have FFVII AMV w/ this song. Cloud just has soo many clips that it made it easier. Cloud's being referred to as the 'kid' and also is referenced to the person singing this song., too, ya know? The only time I really specifically referenced Cloud was when the song says "you're gonna go far, kid" because I think that applies to him. Thanks! :]
