@chasesmith8011:
And why's that?
sn0le 1 year ago
Mac pro does come with a keyboard and mouse dip shit
Yeah, and?
Even if you add the cost of an Apple Magic Mouse and Apple keyboard (total $118) the custom rig is still ALOT cheaper.
:P
Are you actually comparing GT 120 with HD4870? Are you serious? If you multiply GT120's horse power by 4 maybe!

I think you missed the point. Check my comment @ 4:38
I specced the Custom i7 to a 4870, since it is the best card you can spec the Mac Pro to. And then I showed how much a Mac Pro will cost if you spec it up to the same as the custom i7.
@sn0le :) yeah, you're right, sorry
Nothing to be sorry about.
I did forget one thing, that irony works good in real life, but not so good on the internet.
:)
I can see how my statement could be misunderstood. :)
And you were quite right, the GT120 is not even close to the 4870 in terms of performance.
if i was u i would buy gtx 285.....it performs better than 4870....
janicijevic23 1 year ago
Thats true.
But a GTX285 would increase the total cost of the machine too much.
Besides, it was a comparison of how much the same level of performance would cost on the PC.
And the Mac Pro doesn't come with a better card.
@sn0le thats true..... but im just saying...... it would be still cheaper but better lol
@janicijevic23:
Hehe, thats very true. :)
Just found out that there are limitations in the CPU's themselves.
Both Xeon's (Mac Pro) and i7's have the memorycontroller built-in on the CPU.
i7 memory controller can handle 24GB RAM.
And the W5590/W5580 (Xeon) can handle 144GB.
The W35xx series of Xeon handles only up to 24GB, like the i7's.

For 64-bits Windows 7:
Windows 7 Ultimate 192 GB
Windows 7 Enterprise 192 GB
Windows 7 Professional 192 GB
Windows 7 Home Premium 16 GB
Windows 7 Home Basic8 GB
Windows 7 Starter 2 GB
These are the limitations of the motherboards.
And the OS has limitations too.
Snow Leopard has a limit of 16TB of RAM.
HELLO,
If it buy these custom parts. Can i use the system without extra patch installation .like sound patch etc?
Also can i run 10.6.2 on this system configuration?
lenso01 2 years ago
Yes, you can run 10.6.2 on this system.
You use a boot-CD like Empire EFI to install Snow Leopard from a retail DVD.
This means that you can run updates from Apple.
However, you can experience kernel panic if you have sleepenabler installed in 10.6.1 when upgrading to 10.6.2.
But I don't ever put my computer to sleep.....
You'll need a kext for the integrated soundcard.
But that takes 30 seconds to install.
And you might need a kext for the videocard, depending which you choose.
