the sacrifice spell lands were fine in their original forms. dumb players are apparently too stupid to realize you the spell component is to prevent mana flood. The same argument can be made for cycling lands, "dur, I'm gonna cycle all my cycling lands cause I can. Now I have no mana :( " Yet cycling lands were not cut from design?
Evan if you're busy with real life stuff, believe me, I understand. Just know that there's a lot of us out here that appreciate what you do and are chomping at the bit to see 161 uploaded!
Love the interviews with the people who actually make Magic.
Ken man, you need to work on your delivery and storytelling. Got a bit better towards the end, but your answers were so meandering and given with such lack of enthusiasm that I was falling asleep.
He gets asked a strauightfoward, direct and specific question and responds with a tangentally related story, that does not answer the question at all. I cant tell if he is intentionally dodging the questions or just not paying attention.
remembering that magic is marketed to many audiences cancel is a kitchen table spell. its something for recreational blue players to stop recreational green players 8/8s. they want to make it available to this audience. and for its uses in limited.
Quests were before fucking Everquest, I'm pretty sure MUDs had quests, which were the offspring of homebrew RPGs for the computer, which were the offspring of real pen and pencil RPGs.
Would have loved an explanation for why Cancel was reprinted again. They know it's not good enough to see play outside of limited as evidenced by Forsythe's comment in a previous video( don't remember which one it was but Chapin was playing Gargadon, lark, Body Double and Wall of Roots...)
loved the show the transition music was cheesy lol. But i did like that Ken dressed up to play along with the theme of Zendikar, plus he had magic cards in his hat
I only wish you asked bout such weak blue in zendikar. card draw and counter wise.
I dislike blue and almost never play it but I hate it when I have awesome green cards w/ relevant anti-blue abilities that just don't matter anymore. seems like a waste of design space in formats like standard.
Our previous comments were lost when you reupped, but thanks, since now I get to see the "one more thing." :D
Anyway, like I said before, he misunderstood the question, but I think the answer is that things like the Shards trilands or the M10 duals are themselves "strictly better" than the Invasion duals. I think such fixing needed a boost, since it's just a little weak given the shift from good spells to god creatures.
For all we know that was the basis of the "face down suspend" idea Nagle talks about. Like he said, though, such an idea simply didn't work, and Magic already had a (imo much better) solution to "traps" which was the instant.
OMG!!! Zendikar Ken is freaking awesome!!!

TL;DR version
Mana bugs let you cast things faster.
Sorin is"n't" Vengeant.
Obsidian fireheart and stigma lasher are ok but morph wasn't (watch it again, he said it)
R&D thought about ripping off wow's quest mechanic and yugioh's trap mechanic, but thanks to clever word play never have to fess up to it.
Thank you Evan for laughing/scoffing at him every step of the way.

In their defense, quests existed well before WoW. I'm pretty sure WoW's quest system is a modified version of the Everquest one or some other MMO.

Weird fact. With Cancel in Zen, we now have 3 different cancels in standard.
2010, Alara, and Zen.
I'm pretty sure that this is the first time anything like that has ever happened.
