Such a wonderful way to prepare tea. I think it really allows you to better appreciate the tea. It may take longer, but it beats throwing a tea bag in a cup with some boiling water. :-)
the way to enjoy the tea not only depends on the process to choose the water, choosing the tea complements, choose the tea, but also depends on the form (the process) how you make the tea, and the most important is the mind.
Interesting yet slightly spooky. I'm afraid I don't understand the significance of pouring the tea from one cup to the other, then pouring it out like that. I like how in the end it seems as if the viewer is being served.
Its about purification of the instrument. Cleaning the cup - except the last one wich belong to the one who makes tea. The first infusion is to liberate and facilitate the full potential of tea - and also to clean the leaves from dust.
Tea has it´s phylosophy, harmony, calm, fair, healthy, truth, and the person who is serving tea need to conect with the tea and the water, teapot, maybe for those reasons, it´s a pleasure when serving tea.
as you said basically it´s just serving tea, but with the process with art, when serving tea is not only moving the hands, but also need to choose the good tea, choose the water, choose the tea pot and tea cups, and the important is the mind.
what do you expect her to use? a fire started with flintstone and brush collected from her neighborhood? this is the 21st century. the heating device dictates nothing about the tea brewing; the purpose is to heat water
in the past, the father of tea Lu Yu prepared tea with charcoal to warm up the water, nowadays it´s would be great to maintain the same way as the taste of tea should be very special. as this video i made was concentrated with the process of using Gaiwan, so i choose the modern kettle to safe more time.
i hope you - abendroth85 if you have all material you can prepare the tea with charcoal to warm up the water, if your neighbour also enjoys tea, why not invite him?
about the tea culture, first has the chinese tea ceremony, you can find father of the tea - Lu Yu, and then tea culture was brought from China to Japan.
this action is to seperate from different steps of the process, and need to show the people where are your hands, not under the table, everything is clear in front all eyes.
hello, chayuan: do you recommend an electric teapot that can be used in the US? I have a Zojirushi hot water tank, but it is messy for Gaiwan and Yixing pots. I notice the one in the video is plastic. I usually would prefer metal, but perhaps this one is better? Thank you. Please keep making more tea videos. I appreciate your culture very much. Thank you.
hello, shrumpkin. i would like to recommend you the metal electric teapot as the inside is the metal, much better then i used in the video. as at the beginning i can not find the electric teapot selled in spain, instead of the metal one, i have had to choose the plastic.
thank you very much for your note and hope you can enjoy the tea culture with me.
Mandarin - some people also call them "cha hai", tea sea, although that name is also used for the "gong dau bei" fair cup also used in gong-fu cha. I've seen the clay kind at Ten Ren, a popular taiwanese tea chain. They also come in wood and bamboo - you can make one by putting a bamboo steamer basin upside-down on a ceramic bowl. Just make sure it fits fairly well so it doesn't shift too much while you're making tea.
Nice checking "baoxheineken", this means you have really focused on the video. the question is "why didn i wash the last cup?", and the answer is "the last one does not need to wash, because already exist hot water inside, on the other hand, the first three cups are for the clients, and the last one is for myself." well, thank you for your comments, and nice checking on our video!
Beautiful ceremony. Very relaxing

Very nice, thank you. I alredy knew gongfu cha using yixing pots, and was wondering how to use a gaiwan properly. Now I know :-)
One question: is this placement of the hands between actions traditional in China?
It reminded me of Japanese tea ceremony pretty much. Could it be Japanese influence?

mandarinmelon 4 years ago
Thank you for your comment. The tray i use in Chinese is called "cha pan", is made of purple clay from China, very useful tray.

I've looked everywhere and I can't find one like you have. Can I ask where you got your cha pan?
