@CityLoch I was talking to an English person on here who was judging all Americans. I could say 'how American of you' not to understand basic language - something several American politicians and celebs give credence to. But one bad doctor doesn't invalidate medicine, so I won't judge them all. We have many accents, as do Americans. It is down to climate and the culture of an area. Just a little learning and application of thought will alleviate any lack of understanding you have.

@CityLoch Climate dictates the way different air-ways are used. Hot and cold climates affect accents differently. Dialects develop over time. The kind of place has much bearing on it. Workers in industrial towns develop quick, efficient speak and create slang. It's designed so they understand each other, so inevitably baffles outsiders. I've heard people refer to "the English race." Whether it's technically accurate is of no importance. Rules are for people who need them.

I'm inclined (and hopeful) to believe that it was just a relevant funny story for the kind of question he was being asked - that he wasn't just recycling old material. If you know someone well enough, you notice them repeating stories all the time. I hope that is the case anyway.

I think they would "prefer" their funeral to be a bit humourous rather than everyone being too sad. I think thats the way it should be - each funeral should reflect that family's personality. Not everyone wants their famiy to be depressed in their time of death - if you get what I mean.
