  • Just brilliant!

  • the smashing pumpkins hit their prime when i was about 10/11 years old. i was old enough to enjoy their music, but too young to actually appreciate it. i recently started listening to them again and only now am i realizing how good of a band they really were. billy corgan is probably one of the best songwriters to come out of the nineties.

  • i play this song allot, but ittl never compare to billys version, long live smashing pumpkins!!!!!

  • I can play it ;) It is fun.

  • What a fucking crisp clap

  • Excellent!

  • wow his voice doesnt match his singing voice at all

  • that guitar sounds fucking awesome

  • right miz billy is better then most think he is his dad was a awesome blues player so he was shown how to play vary vary young

  • i think his guitar is down one half step

  • @aquabat104 it is

  • Why the idiot talks to Corgan when he starts to playing the song??

  • billy's full of grace :)

  • Goosebumps :')

  • very cool....

  • 0:45 hey look its my puppy loafie c:

  • chris issak is a badass too lol

  • I love Billy, too la la la la la la.....I had a dream about him where he was walking all around some town just talking and talking and was right beside him listening and smiling..it was weird but it was great!

  • @skylilly1

thats what the jesuits promised. lol

  • I love you Billy!

  • wow he's like a guitar virtuoso or something

  • One of the greatest riffs ever.I dont get it though. Billy was pretty much the creative force behind many of the Pumpkins greatest on radio/off radio hits. He did this pretty much by himself. I dont want to say hes lost it but, his new stuff is so different. I'm not looking for Cherub Rock part 2 or anything, I guess I just want to feel what I felt with Gish, Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie etc. Hes still one of my musical inspirations.

  • @Desperadounico you will feel it i believe. from what ive heard, the stuff on Oceania is amazing. Billy says its got the best reaction from people who have heard it since their intitial break up.

  • epic

  • One of the best riffs ever...

  • Jimmy always looked like the kinda guy that would beat his woman during sex while eating a steak sandwich. I love this clip~

  • sorry guys.. i don't speak english very well... what's the question the guy ask to billy??

    ".....riff first" ?!?!?!?

  • @marcorm81 can you play that riff. Its the part of the song he plays. like the chorus, riff, ect. This is the riff of his song.

  • @ColdSixOneFour so he say "Can you play that riff first"?

  • @marcorm81 yes.

  • @marcorm81 . In the begging he asked can you play that riff. Then askes him did you have that riff first.. Meaning is that the first riff he made.

  • @ColdSixOneFour No he means did you write the riff before the lyrics.

    Answer is: yes he did.

  • @ColdSixOneFour No meaning did he have the riff before he wrote the song. Or write the lyrics/song before he wrote the riff.

  • Powerful

  • Yay! I can play this :)

  • Did anybody notice the dog just chilling next to Chris at 0:44 ????

  • that Gibson sounds so amazing (:

  • :D

  • my sister often asks me different questions when i am busy playing.....

seems like she doesn't even hear the music...

or it is me who can't play a bit.

anyway check merey toy channel on youtube and leave a comment

  • chris isaac "cant play guitar", but the guitar has his name all over it. people, get your facts straight before you comment and start looking dumb and ignorant.

  • Billy Corgan is probably the most underrated guitarist of the 90's. Since James Iha was the lead guitarist he gets most of the credit even though Billy is the one that actually recorded all the guitar and bass tracks on Gish and Siamese Dream. Not to take anything away from James because he is a stellar guitarist as well.

  • @BizzMarki agreed, except James Iha isn't really that good... but he's a very nice guy :)

  • That's Chris Issack. The funny connection them is that Billy at one time was nailing the girl from his one famous music video.

  • So did that guy ever learn the riff and rock it out?

  • thumbs up if you noticed the dog in this video and it looked like that dog was a guest in the show

  • so much better then all the crappy youtube cover versions

  • @mizterblack :) I think it's becuase it's the real deal!!!

  • @leeleec79 Obviously! :D

  • @mizterblack thats cos i haven't put mine up yet. ;DDD

  • @mizterblack agreed! Cant beat the orginal man!

  • @mizterblack Have you listened to Bad Rabbits's cover of 1979. Its really good and (in my opinion) its the only Smashing Pumpkins cover song that should be up on youtube.

  • billy corgan is a freakin genius!!! i cant even do that! how does he come up with it???! wwooo SP!!!

  • Comment removed

  • The damn dog is in awe! XD

  • 0:44 Billy's hairiest fan, thoroughly enjoying 1979 from the couch

  • Anyone tell me what he's doing with the low E on the riff?

  • @mickeyb1000

He's muting it with his thumb for part of the riff

  • "we were sure wed never see an end.....to it all" XD made me laugh for some reason

  • He's playing half a step down here.

  • I try to play this as Billy but I can't, mainly because I haven't been playing for so long but also because of his feeling in his playing. He's a very underrated songwriter, in my opinon.

  • Where can I find the full episode? I checked online and can't find it..

  • It's cool how they both looked at Billy in complete awe as he played such a perfect guitar riff

  • A riff is a musical phrase. So yes, a guitar part with a hook can be a riff.

  • Ahh...the interviewer is Chris Isaac.....you idiots...lol

  • at :25 it looks like Billy is flicking him off!

  • You guys are idiots. The interviewer is a famous musician too, and he knows how to play guitar.

  • that guy has a toy dog at his side, he is not bad assed enough to touch that "riff"

  • i can tell he's tuned to E flat! YES!! something about that tuning idk what it is but its just perfect sound for me and i love it!!

  • I've never heard someone say the word 'riff' so many times like that. He must be really trying to make it seem like he knows guitar vocab.

  • i did learn that riff... bu way back when siamese twins was out. one classic album!

  • @PhouFoo wtf this was after siamese dream..

  • @AteamMedia yeah. now you know. I WROTE that riff.

    No just kidding... ;)

  • @PhouFoo

Yeah you must be a real big fan to get the name of the album wrong ...

  • Fuck, billy plays so damn good

  • Next time try tuning a half step down and practice a few more times before posting this.

  • lol RIFF

  • please, please, someone post the whole interview

  • Chris Isaak should learn to use internet tabs. Lol.

Really cool vid, though, It was a good interview.

  • What's the name of this show? Where can I find the whole episode? PLEASE!

  • @DavidFUBB Chris Isak Show

  • Someone tell the drongo what a riff is! This is a progression not a riff!

  • @DocBrewster

tard, anything can be a riff

  • @LfunkeyA lol - GO BACK TO ROCK SCHOoL 101 - OR AT LEAST GOOGLE "RIFF" - A SONG IS NOT A RIFF YOU TARD!

  • @DocBrewster Tell that to Razorlight

  • Billy is insane, hes the best.

  • where the bloody hell is the huge applause he deserved??

  • @thesniffysniffy he's too awesome, so people are simply speechless :D

  • I know how to play all this except for 34 onwards. Can someone send tabs? or direct me to tabs or somin? I wanna do this for one of my music assesments :D ty.

  • @hchn333 the chords after :34 are: 097900 099800 079900 069900 009900 then A

  • :46 wtf? dog behind him?

  • @boudy077 HAHAHAHAH!!! I didn't notice it the first time! classic

  • @boudy077 You made me lol xD

  • I love how Jimmy laughs at the end of this he's thinking in his head, "Lol you don't accually play guitar."

  • @Gamagachee type in Chris Isaak - Wicked Game

  • @ToNyToKeS99 Whoops ..... my bad...

  • @Gamagachee lol he probably does play guitar, just because he doesn't have with him doesn't mean he cant play, but its funnier to assume he doesn't ; )

  • @Gamagachee BILLY!!!

  • @Gamagachee Of course Chris Isaak can play guitar.

  • @Gamagachee lol yea right

  • @Gamagachee Strange, i thought he did play guitar

  • @Gamagachee Chris Isak plays guitar. google it.

  • dont talk to an artists when hes working..

  • @rrrtbds12223 YEEEAAAAAA..... you are right dude !!! im with you..

  • that looks more complicated than i imagined it to be

  • @igotwhips Actually, it really not that hard of a song. The first part is just an Eb octave, the a slide from the E octave to a B. The you use the open A and bend the F# I believe down to the E on the D string. There is a little bit more to it, but I figured this song out on my own. The rest is just some basic power chord. It's a great song to bust out a parties.

  • hey Billy thanks for the lesson!!!

    love that song

  • im so in love with him

  • very nice to watch him play so i can copy jaja

  • really the whole concept of what's going on is hilarious

  • Look at Jimmy Chamberlain rolling at the reality of situation. Priceless people.

  • This video has 1000000000$ value :)

  • He´s so cute...
