  • The most terrifying thing is that you can see in his eyes that he's in agony.

  • What if Batman gets poisoned with Venom? Bat Venom?

  • Three things that scared me as a kid from this show:

    1. Man Bat's transformation.

    2. Joker venom usage like this.

    3. Poison Ivy turning people into tress.

  • Damn it, she beat me to it!

  • joker: remeber when i posioned you, you sounded just LIKE THIIIIIIIIIIISSSSS HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAAAAHHHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHOOOOEOEOEHAHAHAHAHAH

  • damn joker and his POT

  • The cartoons couldn't show someone dying, so they show a fate worse than death.

    I love the classic cartoons.

  • I always bust out laughing everything I see that Grin

  • @rdzreborn

    Is that you, Mr. J?

  • lets see. Yellow eyes indicates liver or kidney failure. The yellow teeth implies smoker which means lung problems or bad oral hygiene which ,according to the commercial I just saw, can cause heart problems. The maniacal laughter could be caused by listeria or some other brain killing problem caused by bacterial growth in an unscooped cat litter tray. All of which was set off by the trauma of a purple haze. My verdict, the joker is innocent and this man brought it upon himself.

  • REMEMBER WHEN I KILLED YOUR BROTHER

    I SOUNDED JUST. LIKE. THIIIIS!

  • @Kaizerworks good movie.

  • wow....people, you can't be mad that this wasn't in the movie. The movie had a lot going on already! Plus, we already had Scarecrow's fear gas in Batman Begins, so we saw some of that kind of thing before. Don't hate on the new movies because you guys are expecting the movies to be exactly like the comics/tv series (reminds me of Bayformers lol)

  • Never mess with joker!

  • Now THIS IS WHAT JOKER DOES TO PEOPLE FOR FUN!!!!! This is Joker's puncline...to laugh at your own death. did ledger do that....nope.

  • why didn't batman do this to the joker in the first place.

  • Press 7 iff u want to know what happen when you smoke to mutch weed

  • I like the comissioner's face when he see's francis transform. XD

  • wen i was a kid i found that desterbing and now that im older......it still is but it kicks ass!!!!!!!!!

  • funny thing is; the joker can't kill in the cartoons, so they had this weird laugh instead. I think this is worse!

  • hands down, one of the best cartoon series ever....

  • Now THAT'S a fate worse than death.

  • @Kwinnky do you know the name of the episode?

  • This made me terrified when I was little. o.o

  • @MissMoccaChip Took the words right out of my mouth.

  • creepy stuff, thought this a was a program for kids?

  • @Omerzo back in the days when american cartoons still had balls.

  • @Omerzo Really? I just laughed my ass off!

  • When Batman took that pistol thing I thought he's gonna shoot the guy in the head.

  • I remember the makers said that they had too remove joker killing people and replaced it with someone laughing with a horrible clown look...But it basicly wat he does in the comics people die with a hidious joker grin

  • would have been much better if he had the venom instead of his butter knife :P

  • At first he was like ._.

But then he was like O_O

  • This horrified me when I was a kid.

  • It's james franco hosting the academy awards

  • Nightmare fuel.

  • press 1 alot

  • This scared me to death when I was kid. Clowns just ain't right, man.

  • Wow. That's spooky.

  • And I just shit my pants a little

  • Fear gas(scarecrow)is much better than jokers laughing gas

That's what I think but laughing gas is cool still

  • Joker: Looks like he's having fun already. HAHA.

  • Single-handedly the most FUCKED UP thing I ever saw when I was a kid. I was at least 6 when I first saw this. O.e

But then I saw the uncut version of the flashback from "Return of the Joker" when I was 9... but that's a whole different story.

  • @Reaperluver It's a good thing you hadn't seen the comic at that age then, because they actually die from the Joker Venom

  • Oh. Crap.

  • this scene fucked my life up as a kid.

  • @phattown213 but would u have it any other way?

  • Mr. G. Carl Francis lived after this ordeal, moved to Metropolis, and became the Maitre d' of a restaurant, where he eventually came face to face with Kalibak.

  • @angeltosome

Good eye. I noticed that too. The episode in question is "Father's Day" right?

  • Yep.

  • The victim reminds me of Ren from Ren and Stimpy during the "Happy Happy Joy Joy" video.

  • damn thats creepy, i crapped my pants!

  • Poor Mister Francis. But DAMN I almost pissed myself when his eyes started bugging out of their sockets like that. Hoo.

  • I remember watching this episode as a kid...

    GOD FUCK MOTHER FUCK!!!

    I couldn't sleep for a week :(

  • where can i get that stuff

  • I don't care if they only used the laughing gas to appease the censors, that shit is fucking scary. Burton's Joker was pretty good, but imagine it in Nolan's. Whoo, boy, nightmares every night.

  • I hate how they toned down his Rictus Grin.I wish WB/FOX had let Bruce Timm do Batman the way he was going to. Let's just say there'd have been more nudity, violence, vulgarity, death, and drug use by minor criminal characters (like either the mustached guy or the sunglasses guy)

  • The joker is a jew. Batman should hand him over to the SS.

  • @wulfshelmut Actually he's Irish. *wink wink for fans who've seen this entire episode before*

  • so many nights of not being able to sleep thanks to this scene.

  • that guy is stoned

  • Confession Time!!

Who is here from TV tropes?

The Joker will probably appreciate the honesty...

  • @ChaosBladewing

I am. I like it when people add video links on TV tropes.

  • @ChaosBladewing *raises hand*

  • @baublemoon no you will die it takes a little while but you will you have to remain calm or else you will die laughing

  • @TheMonsterENVY

There is no concrete defense against Joker Venom, because there is no one strain of the stuff. Especially when the comics are taken into account.

The gas has been shown as green, red, purple, or yellow. Sometimes it kills instantly. Sometimes it doesn't kill at all. Sometimes it just puts you under hallucinations. Sometimes it makes you crazy while slowly killing you. And sometimes it only works on fish. :)

  • ;_; Why did I watch this at one in the morning!? The fact that the guy will survive is only a small comfort.

  • @Kamikazebutterfly what..

  • COugh-heh... cougheheh! Eheheheheehheehhh! Heheehehehahahahah! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHH! AAAH HAHAHAHA !HAHA HAH HAH HAHAH HEhehh... IEHHehehehhh hehehhh....!

  • ugh! this needs to be in a batman movie sometime. hella freaky

  • @kylesullivan96 it was in the first tim burton batman, when the news anchor woman who's infected with joker venom dies laughing on tv, then still smiles when dead.

  • I once took hawaian mushrooms, and I laughed like the joker all night long, it was real freaky, I could hear myself laugh in this horrible way, but couldn't do anything about it!

  • maybe this is where the term LOL came from..

  • lol

  • lol

  • the joker grin was the only way they could show death really in that show cuz it was made for children at the time even though it has many adult underlying themes. but ya even though they look worse then dead, they arent really so that the show could go on haha weird round about way of doing it

  • The only time they actually showed someone dead at the time was in "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm".

  • and in batman beyond return of the joker ;)

  • Oh yeah, I forgot about that! There was two versions: gas and dart.

  • creepy....

  • I think in the comics there IS an anti venom but you need to get to the people before the whole face change thing happens. once they get that grin, they are pretty much dead. but they always save people in the cartoon because they were not allowed to show death

  • lol "once the anti venom kicks in" he looks dead as hell

  • talk about looking happy..

  • Pwned.

  • did you see the look on gordons face? must be scary.. even for a cop like comissioner gordon.

  • man what a Joker face he got..

  • wow that was freaky!

  • This scene freaked me out so much when I was a kid!

  • hmmmmm I might have to try some of that Hydrogen cyanide and strychnine

  • "he'll be alight ones the anti venom kicks" his ass.

  • Buenisimo! gracias por subirlo

  • really disappointed the laughing gas didnt make it to the movie

  • i suppose that nolan thaught it was too silly either that or that another badguy tryig to gas the city would've been to repetitive after scarecrow.

  • Nolan also used the concept of the "glasglow" smile to subsitute the joker venom to fit his realistic batman universe.

  • @AcidRooster They used the joker laughing gas thing in the animated series because network censors wouldn't let anyone be killed in a children's show. Although it takes the Joker out of character some what since he's know for being ruthless and murderous, but in a way they averted it in a good way.

  • @smzig i dunno, the way the laughs are portrayed in the cartoon is almost scarier than the movie

  • The Joker venom is in all of them. You ever see the corpses with the freaky smiles on their face?

  • This is somebody's fetish, I'll bet

  • thats what happens if u smoke too much weed

  • this is going to be a fatality in the mk vs dcu game thatis coming out in the fall

  • Actually, he just shoots the guy for a fatality. Joker venom just teleports him.

  • Could be a second fatality, the past few current gen. MK installments have had atleast two fatalities per character. Excluding Deadly Alliance and partly Armageddon since you created your own.

  • Talk about a bad trip ...

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • I swear, I want to see what Batman would look like with that joker smile plastered on him

  • o I know, huh!

  • watch return of the joker

  • o.O

    okay....

  • At first i thought that they were smokeing.LOL!

  • now I know why that guy was laughing so hard.

    :D~

  • Man, Joker takes chemical warfare to a whole new level.

  • Joker is chemical warfare XD I wouldn't mind laughing like he does and having that jokerization. Hell! I would love to be joker.

  • same here "caintheman"!!!!!! XD

  • I sawed this episode!

I think that batman was infected to.

  • It was actually someone dressed up as Batman. It was a set-up to trick the Joker, but it failed.

  • now there's a happy smile

  • now there's a happy smile

  • subscribe to me i have a lot of jokergas laughing gas scenes and im utting up more

  • This is the main reason as to why I was attracted to this show. I love how the Joker will think of genius actions in order to have victims "die with a smile".

I wouldn't really want to die in this manor, though. Too creepy. With the yellow teeth and lipstick? Nah, when people see me in my coffin, they'll think "holy shit, mate, he must have been hitting the cigs. What the fuck is with the lip stick?"

I'll stick to wanting to die in my sleep.

  • i agree dieing in my sleep iusnt so bad

besides im not a very accepting person

when i go to heaven i will deny the fact i died and just say to myself its a dream

  • if you have that luxury you mean.

  • LOL!

  • they should put some writers who have a sense of humour, let the joker win like in the last laugh everyone shouldve gone insane, they shouldve taken off batmans gas mask insted of putting him in a bin, same in the joker express

this concept of good guy's always win isnt entertaining

u see people being left with a joker smile next minute batmans kicking his butt!

  • I disagree. I always loved Joker because he always came so close to winning, but because he was crazy he could never get it done. That was part of the magic of his character.

And of course, Batman is badass :P

  • oh cmon its funny hes just been jokerized just think of those ppl who have to laugh like fools in front of cameras going insane

just think of batman with that grin on his face or going mad laughing the writers ought to let the joker win it would be a hilarious episode dont u think

  • an episode with the joker killing everybody and leaving behind him all those grinning corpses would be fun! but that'll never happen!

  • i agree with you but aslong as it is for kids nobody is going to die or is any badguy going to win

  • i rather be sentenced to death by lethal injection that die like this

  • he didn't die, he got Jokerazed! In other words it's like getting high!

  • He's not high, he's suffering from involuntary spasms and convulsions that cause him to laugh uncontrollably as his body deteriorates. And he would have died if Batman hadn't given him the antidote.

  • great medical definition of the joker venom effects! thanxx for this descriptive comment (no it's not ironic, i'm serious)

  • Hehe I tought this was funny. I wish I could be infected!

  • ahahahaha 8D

  • joker venom is the creepiest thing ever! i'd rather be shot by a bullet in the head than dying like this!

  • Indeed.

  • you know if you REALLY think about it. this shit is fucking scary

  • u said it this was a creepyest shit on batman tas i was always scared to watch a guy get hit wit da laughin gas so creepy

  • no its not even the laughing gas, its wat he's willing to do

  • tru tru

  • This has to be one of the greatest shows of all time! Brings back the memories of when I use to watch it when I was a kid.

  • That is how I want to myself to die. Laughing to death

  • This one was my favorite episode! i think it was the funniest one!

  • Hell yes

One of the best/ scariest episodes in the series.

  • These type of scenes with the joker venom in used to creep me out when I was younger and that smile is fuckin' still scary, but Batman TAS is the daddy of em' all in the DCAU

  • Yeah. I remember when I was little, and I used to be really freaked out by this kind of scene.

  • Well, Batman: TAS is the "true" follower of the comic, still have som old comic's at my house, remember that I was inlove with that Joker woman, can't spell her name, hehe.

  • Harley Quinn, I believe.

  • Harley Quinn came later, much later...

Like when they started the animated series.

  • Harley Quinn was invented in the animated series first, the comics bought the license to use her later.

  • Really?

That a really new way of making caracters, right?

It's not like that happenes often.

  • Exactly. Harley was just too good of a character to be ignored by the "official" writers, so they wrote her in to the comics, and she has a huge following, now. ;) I bet the Animated Series creators are proud to have made a mark on the main franchise like that, I know I would be, ha.

  • They did the same with their interpretation of Mr. Freeze.

  • ppl laughin no

  • I still hate Mr. Freeze, not 'cause of the 'govnor (from the movie), I just never liked the caracter, I found him stupid, stupid with a big heart.

  • I truly appreciate the mature storylines that were in this show and I'm glad I grew up watching this rather than the idiocy they're passing off as a Batman cartoon now...

  • Co-sign. This show was excellent -- that new show is crap.

  • i remember in one ep batman said crackhouses crack the drug.

  • nearly wet myself

  • That show did worse stuff than this. It was great.

  • what did they do that was worse? I wanna see!

  • Dood! Are you serious when u say they didn't cut it out on tv? I thought they did! Come back 90s!

  • Hah, I read the comic that ep was based on just yesterday.

  • Manic. The new Batman series is cra p though- WBs has seriously gone down hill

  • Right. They got rid of all the anime!

  • I love that episode.

  • this show is not fer kids. not meaning that its pg-13 or anything, but i remember watching it as a kid and not knowing what the hell was going on except batman was beating the crap out of someone...or a shark, actually it was in this episode when he owned the shark.

  • It is a kids show nuff said. I saw as a kid and I understood everything.

  • yeah. i was just a stupid kid. but now that i'm not too stupid, it's a lot better now than before.

  • Yeah, this cartoon seemed to be basically free to do whatever they wanted. Batman hung people by their feet over 50 story falls and interrogated them angrily, people died from Joker venom and gunshots, things HAPPENED. Good show overall.

  • Remember when the Joker gave venom-candy to kid's? Now that's class!

  • do u mean in the frank miller's comic or in an episode?
