  • Nice Group!

  • there's a different way to take down the gun, i heard.

  • wow that's so dumb how it has a caution warning on the slide, that just ruined it for me

  • I always carry with one in the chamber safety off, because if you need it, you need it RIGHT NOW!! You will be surprised how fast a threat can cover the distance to you before you unholster, let alone chamber a round. And you can't always be on super alert. Bad guy has the advantage.

  • Zaldi what kind of camera do you use for your reviews?

  • @scandmx5atl

On my earlier videos I was using an old non HD Canon PowerShot but on my latest videos I use a Casio Exilim EX-FC100 camera and that has proven very good so far.

I am however planing on upgrading to something but a better lence and maybe manual focus.

  • Condition 1. All day long.

  • @AllAmericanGuy01 especially when it's a surplus then again. When you buy used always look at it work the action. Dry fire it too ( dry fire bolt actions too it does not harm it like they say it does) look down the barrel to check for rust putting and excessive ware. If a place does not let you look at it and handle it. Instantly tell them never mind and move on chances are something is wrong with it.

  • My S&W M&P .40 has no safety on it. Can even Fire without the Mag in the pistol. My finger is my safety.

  • @flkinganuthin

Buddy get your own video and make it instructional. Don't come here shitting on mine. Its called professional courtesy

  • Oh that sucks bro. For an extra 100 bucks or so, you could of bought it brand spankin' new. Mine was around $515-$520 something. I just don't like buying used guns. Save money? Yeah but I just don't like knowing that the previous owner could of treated their gun like shit or what kind of internal changes they made to the weapon itself. Save your money and buy it new bro, especially if it's for SD...You never know when a used gun is gonna give

  • Anyone saying this gun can fire with the magazine removed despite the video maker saying his firearm has the magazine safety needs to understand that S&W puts that on all their gun models of the m&p series whether or not they have the magazine safety, it's too much trouble for them to differentiate on the slide of the gun.

  • @jpap967

Actually mine does not have the magazine safety. It can fire with the magazine removed. There are others what have a trigger disconnect when the magazine is out of the gun.

  • @jpap967 You need to get your facts straight. There are several versions of the M&P 40C...Some models have it where the weapon won't fire unless the magazine is in and other models have it where it will fire the chambered round. I don't understand what you mean when you say that S&W puts that on all their models...What exactly are you referring to? Because as I said, there are several versions of the M&P 40C

  • @AllAmericanGuy01 I already know that there are different versions with different safety options. Re-read my comment before you explode in your own pants. I have the version with the magazine safety and it STILL says ON THE GUN that the firearm can fire with the magazine removed (incorrectly)... Like wise, my friend's M&P WITHOUT the magazine safety has this warning on the gun (correctly).

  • @jpap967 Mine also does not have a magazine safety. The M&P with the magazine safety is standard with Police issue. The M&P has many different options regarding the safety, and different firing parameters.

  • @jpap967 actually they have different versions with the M&P they also have one version that have the crimson laser already on the gun

  • @jpap967 Thats not true at all.

  • shooting sports tampa! thats where I go

  • @tk4227

we should get together and go one of this days.

  • Switch those winchester bonded pdx1's out for something better.. ie: Speer Gold Dot, Winchester Ranger Talons, or even Hornady Defense rounds with red tip.

  • @khyoon14 PDX1's are the same exact thing as the Ranger Talons...Then again, a bullet is a bullet, it's gonna do it's job regardless; if you know how to shoot.

  • @AllAmericanGuy01 PDX1's are bonded bullets better suited for LEO when they shoot through barriers, and they will MUSHROOM. Talons will spread on impact of anything in a shape of a star with sharp points. Hence the word talon. They are TOTALLY different. If you have any evidence saying they are the exact same thing, post your evidence... Good luck.

  • @khyoon14 You're right...They are different. But as I said before, a bullet is a bullet. Bonded or not, it will get the job done as long as the placement is right.

  • and you ARE able to fire the weapon with round in, no magazine. becauase thats what it says on the slide. 3:00

  • condition 1- round in chamber saftey on

condition 3- loaded magazine in weapon. emtpy chamber. satfy on

  • condition 1, pointlesst to carry any other way , "uuugh hold on let me load my wepon while u kill me"

  • good video. I carry all guns w/ 1 in chamber.

  • Thanks for the video. From watching you shoot I'd suggest working on your grip. When the gun recoils it veers off to the right because you don't have enough support from your right hand. I know it's hard because the grip length is pretty small, but it could be better.

  • @pojweq

Thanks for the comment. Yes the grip is very small in this gun and yes I am not getting the firm grip required to tame this weapon in the 40 Cal. I'm working on my grip even today. It definitely takes time at the range to master it. I'm getting a higher grip and counter pushing with my support hand and those two things alone are giving me less muzzle flip. Once again thanks.

  • @zaldivarbigboy Stipple it my friend. It makes a world of difference.

  • more of the weight comes from the frame not the slide

  • @worldpeace3000

I guess that with a fully loaded magazine inserted in the frame it might weight more than the slide by itself. But this guns have very thick and wide slides. I have not weighter the slide vs the frame so I will give you the benefit of the doubt. LOL.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • Just bought mine new two weeks ago but with a thumb safe. I carry condition 1 with thumb safety on because I don't have a lefty IWB holster yet. Shot about 200 rounds today. No issues. Love it! It was super easy to switch the magazine release to lefty, I was amazed.

  • @oriyavongs

    Thanks for sharing.

  • is it realistic to carry this gun inside the waistband?

  • @omgtaylorswift01

There are other much lighter and thinner guns than this that will carry IWB easier but this one in particular I carried for a few months. The grip is small and does not print even under a simple t shirt. I however find it to be heavy and it can wight your pants down if you don't have a good quality belt and holster.

Otherwise its a very capable and reliable gun with plenty of firepower and with the right loads it can handle most situations.

  • i don't know how far that was shooting but that was a killer group. i want one

  • i think you did a fine job on the front sight....good review :)

  • @Zolotros

    Thanks...

  • Good clear review, some excellent points and I like the shooting demo at the end....thanks mate.

  • @telmac899

Your welcome. Glad you found it helpful.

  • I'm sure this has been covered, but what you described (in 1911 terms) is Condition 0. Condition 1 is round in chamber, hammer back, and both grip and thumb safety engaged. You can make an argument that the trigger safety's existence makes this Condition 1, but I personally don't subscribe to that view (I also don't carry a pistol without a thumb safety, but I have enough time behind a 1911 so that flicking the safety off is 2nd nature for me).

  • @wye4379

    Good point thanks.

  • you should probably cover your weapon serial number

  • @joeratti

Covering it is definitely better than having it for the world to see, but I frankly don't see how anyone can use it against me????

  • @zaldivarbigboy my father's serial number on his glock was taken and inscribed professionally on someone elses and the police came to his door trying to arrest him for a shooting. this was about 10 years ago i remember

  • @joeratti

Your certainly correct. Being able to prove that something is yours via documentation does not mean that you still don't mind the police coming to your house and accusing you of a crime or even worse try to take you to jail.

There is rally nothing I can do about this guns serial in particular due to the fact that to do that I would have to make a new video and this gun is no longer in my possession.

  • Nice holster dude.

  • best way to carry a concealed gun is a clip full of bullets with one in the chamber, no questions asked. ready at all times

  • These guns are made to carry with one in the chamber and ready to go once you pull the trigger. I know some people prefer to not have one in the chamber and rack the slide once they draw to engage the target but this can have problems. Most defense situations are going to take place within a very close proximity and you may not have time to rack the slide or have your second hand available to rack the slide. I feel you should be able to draw and fire from any position with one hand.

  • @chrizzis77

could not agree with you more. you have to be ready for any and all situations. If you have time to rack a round into the chamber guess what, you are not using this gun defensibly you are using in it offensively. Defensibly is when you have to make a draw and shoot for your life split second decision.

Thanks to all for all your comments and thought on carry....

  • DONT GET ME WRONG, I LOVE THESE GUNS. I HAVE THE FIRST GENRATION SIGMA 40 (PIMPED OUT) BUT LOOKING TO GET ONE OF THESE IN A COMPACT

  • SIMPLY SAYING, THESE GUNS HAVE NO MANUAL LOCK, IF YOUR OUT WRESTLED OR CAUGHT OFF GARD OR FROM BEHIND, THEY HAVE YOUR GUN,THEY PULL THE TRIGGER, THEN ITS LIGHTS OUT FOR YOU.

  • unless you're "superman" or have eyes in the back of your head, you should NEVER carry a gun in "condition-1" mode in a speed draw holster without any type of safety retention system. Your asking for it.

  • @guntek18

Its all about how comfortable you feel with your gun, I trust the firing pin disconnect safety's on this types of weapons, I know that it makes the gun drop safe.

Also you have to have the appropriate holster for what you do. If you have to do any type of fast running or climb over obstacle courses then this type of holster won't do but if you are just wearing the gun in a normal day to day carry this type of holster is ideal. Please elaborate on your claim......???

  • WTF?!

  • Great review. However it looks like you need a stronger grip on that little compact. Seems like you have a hard time managing that recoil.

  • @BennyBenjamins

Not going to deny it. I'm still learning how to properly manage recoil. Its does however move around a lot.

  • WEIGHT IN A "COMPACT" FIREARM, IS A GOOD THING. IT HELPS REDUCE RECOIL WHICH WILL AID IN A TIGHTER GROUP DURING RAPID FOLLOW-UP SHOTS..... THATS MY "2".

  • FYI you can take this down by just pulling back the slide, dropping the take down lever, pulling the trigger and sliding the slide off

  • @cbroadhurst11

Good point I really didn't know you didn't have to take the sear disconnect down....

For those who are wondering other way cbroadhurst11 is talking about is simply locking the slide back, rotating the take down lever, and letting the slide go forth until it stop, then you simply press the trigger and the slide comes of the frame without having to take down the pin or the tool on the grip.

    Thanks for the valuable comment.

  • @zaldivarbigboy I've been watching a lot of reviews of this gun, so i just thought I'd share. would you recommend this for a concealed carry weapon? and do you know how it compares to the Glock 27? or the Smith and Wesson SD .40? just curious

  • Love the review - great vid man. I purchased the full sized version of this gun (no mag safety - very much agree with your reasoning). Going to get the 9mm compact for my wife.

In short, this is a fantastic firearm. But don't take my word for it - after purchasing, I took the weapon to a buddy of mine who is county SWAT. He carries a Glock, but has no choice. In short, he flipped out at how comfortable the grip was, took it down, etc. Said he would trade his Glock for the M&P if he could.

  • @japhydean

Grad you liked it. It is still one of my top conceal options due to its ergonomics more than anything else. By the way CDNNSPORTS has this in the 40 cal full size with silver stainless slide new for only 429.99 just a heads up on the best price out there in case you want to upgrade to a full size 40 model.

  • what do you think is better for first gun for self defense Compact M&P 9mm with 13 bullets or .40 with 11 bullets?

  • @rodlopcab

I'll start by saying than rather than buying a caliber you should buy the recoil management. There is such thing as too much gun. You have to try both and see if you can perform quick and accurate with the 40 as well as the 9 then go for the 40 but if you see that the 40 is harder to shoot fast and accurate go with the 9. To me the more bullets you can put on target quickly is more important than the size of the bullet you putting on such target.

  • @rodlopcab

If you can go to your local range and see if they let you rent either gun 40 or 9 and if they do set a target at 5 yards and see how many rounds you can put in a 6 inch group in 2 to 3 seconds. The caliber that allowes you to connect with that 6 inch group the most should be the right one for you.

Also why m&p you can probaly buy a glock 26 or 27 with that same kind of cash and to me the glock is as reliable and much easier to customize and brake down for cleaning. Just saying.

  • @zaldivarbigboy thanks for your advise! I live in Costa Rica and guns here are very expensive, I can not afford to buy a glock here, just to give you an idea I can get and M&P 9mm or .40 for $880 after taxes with the authorized dealer, the prices here for a glock 17,26,27 are on the $1250 - $1350.

  • @rodlopcab

Hey budy I had forgot to tell you that a company called storm lake makes barrels that convert your 40 cal to 9mm. All you will need to make the convertion is the barrel and some 9mm magazines. So going with the 40 cal will be the best idea specially if they are that expensive. Buying the barrel should be cheaper than a new gun. Good luck

  • That gun seems to have a lot of recoil in your hands. You shot pretty well, but If I may make a suggestion, I'd seriously look at my grip if I were you. Proper form will greatly improve the handling of the gun; which will allow for quicker and more accurate follow up shots. Nice video.

  • Thanks for the great review and good shooting. That gun's recoiling way too much on you tho. Especially true, since you seem like a pretty big dude. You can cancel alot of that by pushing forward slightly with the gun hand and squeezing slightly back with the support hand. Also lean slightly more forward (even ~2" makes a big difference). Hope you don't mind the suggestion. Take care.

  • When I first started carrying I did not have one in the chamber, I was a little nervous about it. But after I went to an advanced shooting class, my instructor was checking my weapon, and advised me to always have one in the chamber, safety off . You just never know when you will have to draw your weapon, and if you have to, it will be in a life a death situation,(most likely) so you don't want to waste the little time required to rack the weapon, could be the time you need for survival.

  • Yes, carry it ready to go. You may have to act instantly, racking could be a problem, what if one hand is broken, or you are tired, or surprised, slippery material on hand or gun, etc. This way, you pull it out and fire. You don't have to think, you can just "do" - and pray for strength to be able to act if needed. Nice holster there too. I like the loaded chamber open circle on top of slide, the nickel plated casings show up nice through it to see if loaded.

  • Nice shooting and nice video. I was looking at getting a Sig Sauer to replace my S&W Sigma40ve but I have seen too many bad things about the fit and finish and customer service. I am leaning towards the M&P40c like yours. I think I will paint the front sight orange as well. It looks nice. 1 question though. Why can't you take it down without the tool? Can't you just pull the trigger? You already cleared it.

  • @4Tcal The reason you need the tool is cause of that little rod that sits inside the frame that keeps the slide from sliding out of the front of the gun. if that piece is still in the upward position the slide won't come out from the frame. you don't have to use the tool but you do have to put that little piece down or it won't come out.

  • Yes, that answers my question and makes sense now that i think of it, I was just wondering for speed reloading purposes. Thanks

  • Nice video, I just started carrying and usually carry condition 1. but i bought the m&p 40c about a month ago and i find it a little tough to load a full magazine into the gun when the slide is forward. When the slide is back the mag goes right in no problem. but when the slide is forward its a bit of a struggle.Anyone else have the same experience?

  • @Lilchris09404 its the way they are. That gun gives you 10 rounds in the mag but they are super tightly pack in there. Its very hand to load the last round in the magazine and also you have to drive the mag hand if the slide is close. I normally carry 10+1 and even do its tight its never release the magazine on its own and it has never jammed when cycling that +1 and cambering #10. hope this helps.

  • Good Review, I just had a question. I have the M&P .40 Compact, but with an optional thumb safety. Is these any harm on going that route with an extra safety? Opinion please.

  • @1nFeCt1oN3113 Good choice. I think it all comes down to how comfortable you are with the firearm you carry. How much peace of mind it gives you. I personally like the one without the safety cause is something less to think about as I'm pulling the firearm form its holster. But if you are comfortable with your gun it will most certainly leave the house with you every day. All you have to do is work on defeating the safety as you bring the firearm up to fire. in other words i don't see any harm.

  • what holster is that?

  • @bralko85 its a galco summer confort iwb holster. Kind of bulky but very stable. It stays in position and keeps the grip at a canted or 45 degree angle.

  • I carry a compact 1911 and always carry condition 1 (thumb safety engaged - hammer back - round in chamber).

For what its worth, I would cover up your serial number next time you do a video.

  • How is the trigger pull? Is it stiff? Thanks

  • @M4PATRIOT Not really. I like it, not too heavy, not too light.

  • i always carry plus one

  • If your carring a weapon, your not carring it for fun if you do need to use it for some reason the time it could take to rack the first round could end your life you gun should be ready to shoot when you pull it out.

  • @abbottm72 I couldn't agree with you more. I have a good holster and a safe that the gun stays on when its not on my side. So I don't worrie about accidental discharge. If for some reason your strong hand gets injure during the attack how are you going to rack the round in the chamber. Most people don't know how to rack one handed either.

  • Can the M&P shoot reloads? (lead)

  • @gshdrums any gun should be able to take reload. but the reson most people dont shoot it its because one they are not permited at most firing ranges and two they make it way harder to clean the gun and leave led behind in the rifling of the barrels. I wouldnt shoot any lead out of my personal guns.

  • @zaldivarbigboy damn i guess ill go with the p32 and the cw9

  • excellent shooting brother.

  • @GunNut12680 Thanks man. Im shooting standing with no support about 10-15 yrds I can't recal and the target is about 70% the size of a normal human.

  • @zaldivarbigboy this gun is one of my guns i want as a carry weapon.the other is a springfield xd9 sc and the other is none other than the keltec pf9 as a summer carry when im wearing sweatpants.i originally was looking for the m&p 40c when i bought my sigma 40 but they were all sold out all over my area.all they had was the full sixed ones.the m&p is an excellent piece of machinery and is even built better than glock.the slide hardness is 4 points over the glocks.

  • @GunNut12680 I will recomend you look into the Kahr CW9. its a very well priced version of the PM9 and its super light, very slim and super comfortable to carrry. I just bought one cause the M&P was too bulky to carry at the workplace without no one noticing a bulge under my t-shirt. The kahr goes for about 400 and its top quality.

  • @zaldivarbigboy lol dude is reading my mind!!i also want a cw9!done alot of research on it..great little gun..its in the near future..but for now the keltec the sw and the xd are o n my list first

  • @GunNut12680 trust me man. you are going to spend at least 300 on the kel-tec and be very disapointed. the kahr is just 100 more and 1000 times better than the PF-9 I speak from experience.

  • @zaldivarbigboy whats wrong with your keltec?

  • @zaldivarbigboy does the cw9 come in black?

  • @GunNut12680 unfortunatly no. they only make the stainles steel slide with black frame.

  • look at 1:49 1:50 theres a big gap in ur gun!

  • @gshdrums if you look further you see that the m&p has two rail on each side in the frame, so in between the rails there is nothing therefor the very visible gap. Its part of the desing and not a problem or error on the firearms. But its very visible in person.

  • Condition 1 is the only way i will carry. I carry a Springfield XD9 Subcompact. Great video, i want a M&P now, and a Ruger SR9sc

  • I feel like if you're carrying concealed you should carry condition 1. But ive always had the thought in the back of my mind of some kind of mechanical failure and a round going off when you REALLY dont need it to! Surely if you buy quality, it wont happen. What do you think?

  • @aznconverter I personally think that most insidents involving a gun won't give you enough time to rack a round into the chamber. specially if the bad guy has the gun already pointed in your direction. I think that defenetly quality means sefety and the M&P has identical safety featues to the glock pistol. it requires the full press of the trigger to desengage the 3 internal safeties. and ofcourse a good holster is better than any safey. I always carry Conditon 1 cause I might only have 1 second

  • Thanks for the reply. I was not aware of 3 internal safeties on the m&p.

  • Thanks for the reply. I was not aware of the 3 internal safeties on the M&P. Also, do you ever have problems with the length of the magwell as far as reloading goes? Like maybe pinching your hand during a speed reload?

  • @aznconverter I have never try speed reloading to tell you the truth but I have medium size hands so I don't thing I have ever hand that problem while changing mags.

  • Just curious, where did you get your holster, all the ones they are selling around here are the hard plastic ones. I'm looking for the leather one like you have.

  • I think its called the galco summer confort holster. you should be able to find it online. And it is about 50-60 bucks.

  • @zaldivarbigboy dude how much did you pay for it cause their selling it for 579$ its gonna be my next gun buy but i wanted to tell you about my recent gun i bought a week ago get the SR9 ruger trust me for conceal its flawless i know you like 40 cal. but you will love the SR9 they even made it in compact size like they need to cause they dont 17 rounds man i love my new gun good upload of this one it will be my next watch lol

  • @404040c I got it used with two mags for 400. the sr9 compact is preatty new. I like the looks of the sr9s and I don't mind the caliber. its all about shot placement not how many you fire.

  • Note, when stripping it - you don't need to take out the backstrap pin (behind mag). When stripping I use a pen or knife to push the s-shaped bar down (inside the mag well from the top). It is easy to strip, easy to clean, very reliable. For me, I noticed I shoot the Kahr dead accurate and now shoot the M+Pc a little high. Wonder if can get diff sights? Or just lower the front slightly. But great overall. You can use fullsize mags in the compact too. Thanks for your video.

  • @mokyan7 I figure I teach people the way it was intended to be take down. you know how people are if you show it with and pen they go like " well what if I don't have a pen, this desined is flawed" LOL. but thanks for the info I didn't know that the full size mags fit in the compact. great option for a spare mag. Mine does shoot a bit up too but with training you learn how to adjust to the sights. Thanks for the good feedback.

  • You got lucky u said 400 something$ for compact hard to find that price sweet gun love smith and wesson the sig was my first gun 40 s&w love that gun i want one of those but im getting that sr9 17+ 3 mags 429$ btw i use hornady for my 40 cal pistols

  • Excellent review and shooting!!!! I own the same gun and love it.

  • LOL heavy? How can you say that the compact is heavy. I carry concealed the Full size M&P 40 everyday and some times two back up mags or one mag and a flashlight. Heavy please why is everyone turning into such sally men.

  • yes heavy. when you compare it to some of the other subcompact 40's out there its on the heavier side. it serves it well. cause if it was lighter it would be less controlable under recoil.
