If the frugal traveller is so frugal, then why did he come to Edinburgh during August, which is the busiest, most expensive month of the year to visit the city? Prices go up, hotel prices go up.....everything goes up!!

True. However, for tourists the Edinburgh Festival is probably the best time to go, as theres so much to do. It's also the best time for weather (of course no guarantees can be made). But yeah, everything is much more exspensive. As a local, the main problem I have with the festival is the sheer number of people. You can hardly walk the streets. But I feel lucky to live in such a beautiful town, even though some parts are not quite so pretty.

The wild indigenous NEDS can be seen roaming the streets of Edinburgh, Aberdeen and of course Glasgowegian alleys and streets. Just remember (whatever you do), "Don't Feed the NEDS"!

...and if you see them near a bottle of Buckfast with a razor sharp knife anywhere near? Run for your lifes!!! :0 ...you don't stand a chance in the middle of a google of Wild Glaswegian NEDS on the loose! ;)

i was just in scotland and i went the week before frugal sunday...even then it was insane and full of people. i actually left on the sunday and we walked down the royal mile...i've never had so many pamphlets shoved in my face as i did then. seriously...u should go.
