Can we expect anything that isn't a great performance from Corelli? Absolutely outstanding. The only other rendition that I enjoy is one by Enrico Caruso that was recorded at the end of his career. By this time Caruso was sick and in poor health but Enrico still gave the performance of as lifetime.
you have no idea what you´re saying; maybe in earlier times singing was done in other ways than today but Corelli dose the same mistakes over and over again; and thats a legend??? THATS CRAP!
At my highschool you can pick up a random tenor who sings that pice MUCH, MUCH better and they won´t get a contract at an big opera house; but there good enough to crush this idiot Corelli... its the truth!
I think youre wrong...I´m in contact EACH with singing...don´t you think that I might know something more than you imagine? ;-) Besides, I sang together with Tenors like Peter Seiffert and Jonas Kaufmann in a choir ( Tannhäuser, Freischütz,Tosca)... I know what Im talking about...
@WhiteProfondo I am sure that you know something but this is probably less than you think. With all due respect , singing in a choir does not really count as solo performance experience.
Corelli was among the all time opera greats of our time. He sang with great feeling, performed with energy, intensity and his renditions were flawless. Listen to him singing Andre Chenier and hear his greatness...and incredibly he was self taught!
That is an urban myth, nobody is "self-taught" at the opera. Not much is known about his years of study or his teachers, and that was probably the basis of the legend.
Every professional singer/musician knows that "self taught" in this field is impossible. But Internet users perpetuate this myth.
@minnie888444 I totally agree with you. noone is self taught in opera. Certain people have a natural ability to adopt a proper technique without much coaching but everyone has to be trained more or less.
Grazie Walter.

I've listened to Licitra, & Bochellis renditions of Domine Deus and Corelli blows them away. More power, emotion and he sings from the heart.

I tuoi commenti in spagnolo li capisco bene.
ma tu sei perfetta a scrivere in italiano.
Gli applausi per Franco sono sempre pronti.
Grazie Walter.

Beautiful! Thank you, Walter. (NB: Why did you remove the previous post, Trovatore and Otello with Corelli and MDM?)
Best wishes,
