  • Great book would love a movie

  • Read his book...a great page turner...what a hard man but what a gentleman.

  • I watched this bag work on a better quality video, you'll know the one, and was very impressed by his technique, real power, and turning those hands in with every hok which is obviously tricks used in bare knuckle fighting, and I wonder how old he is there, Jerry? pretty amazing tbh and a mind set of stone, imho have Bartley ahead of all of them, Shaw, Lenny etc

  • Jerry, is there any actual fight footage of Bartley? there is quite a bit of the other known guys, Macleen etc, would really enjoy watching one. Respect of Bartley, seemed a gent also which I respect more.

  • Rest In Peace Mr. Bartley Gorman. You are the greatest!!!

  • true traveller man i read hes book very good 1 he was a hard man rip bartley

  • Has a very hard punch and 20 years younger would have been a joy to see. RIP he died young too, cancer took so much from this family.

  • I met Bartley 20 years ago when i was a student and he let me interview him for my course. He was a very kind, honest and generous man and i'm sorry to learn of his death. I look forward to reading the book

  • fking awesome puncher imagine him 20 yrs ago lol

  • @jerrygormanNO1 YO WHERE YOU FROM NOW? CANT BELIVE THAT YOUR UNCLE SPARRED WITH THE GREATEST

  • There is some power in those punches, I wouldnt have liked to have been on the recieving end of any of them. Just read his book it is excellent. Have you any videos of him actually fighting?

  • Did people ever come from overseas to challenge Bartley? like Ireland or the continent???

  • there is will be never be another like bartly both he and his brother sam challenged all comers and ducked no one in any part of the country godbless them both and may they rest in peace

  • jesus what a punch this man had

  • would love to have seen him fight lenny, what an awesome match that would have been

  • Just finished reading Bartleys book, The king of the Gypsys, in it he leaves the reader to decide on both occasions who would win should he have fought Roy Shaw or Lenny Mclean, have read all 3 of these guys books and Bartley certainly never got the credit he deserved outside of the traveling community, well worth a read a great man and story.

  • SHIT... now that was impresive punching to say the least, cant get over how fast that left jab was !! had to watch it afew times to count how many he throw .can see why he was king of the gypsys

  • dont forget he's really old here, In his prime he probably hit much harder and i imagine he could take alot of punches too

  • His big right hand, the Bull hammer punch, looks tremendous, but could knock you out with the left too, great power in the man.

  • What i would of paid to watch one of his fights , shame it was before my time . RIP Bartley

  • King of the Gypsies

    King of the Gents

    True king

  • Hes my dads cousin. Thought it was.

The nose and being shirtless gave him away lol!

  • is that marky small holding the punchbag??

  • this man looks ridiculously hard.

  • this man was ridiculously hard..lol but a gentleman as well..he would only fight other hard men or troublecausers..never hurt a innocent..hard as feck..the gormans are all the same,,fighters but not bullys..

  • I read bartleys book also

very interesting, I have never been brought up to fight, but have much respect for these guys

  • fedor

  • i wonder why bartley, lenny mclane, roy shaw, never got it on they were all around about the same time, there would of been some big money on them,,my money would of been on gorman if it was bare fists,,,,

  • i read bartleys book, absolutely brilliant, i wish i could have met him. wat a legend, rip

  • I used to think that travelling people, Gypsy's whatever you want to call them were 'wrong 'uns'. But i would swap Bartley's standards for any of the chav hoody bollocks i have to live with. He was a true gent and wish i knew him!

I'm not religious but no matter where he is, he's is Valhalla!

  • intresting point

  • Errr! Thanks!!??

  • i meant i agree its a well put forward point

  • Goog old Bartley, used to go out coursin wiv him and that, bloody good fun to listen to, well respected man, Legend!

  • I couldn;t post a comment on the other video of Bartley. Probably becase its got full, and I know the vast majority are respectable and honourable. Bartley , god bless you and your family, you are a inspiration. go mbeannaí Dia tu!

  • Bartley Gorman vs Malcolm Price. Who wins?

  • Gorman hands down

  • sorry i should have said that one thing YOU never forget are people like ray.all us young lads at work used to hang around him at tea or lunch and listen to his tails.he used to take snuff too. very old school bloke.I feel lucky to have met a bloke like him one in a million!never owned a car and walked everywhere!

  • thanks saxamofone,i would like to read that.

how did you get a copy of this book?

I think now that ray might have passed away as he was 65 when i knew him as a young apprentice 20 years ago,but one thing you forget is people with a story to tell, and old ray had been through the war as a reseverd occupation , meaning that he couldnt go to war as he was needed in the war effort in uk as a machinist, he was sent to coventry, hence the saying that no one knew anyone.he worked on the spitfires!

  • Bartley gorman must have been a mans man, hard as nails and came from the times when respect and family values and history were things to hold dear.

I used to work with an old bloke called Ray Buxton , he was from Buxton!

He told me that his father was a bare knuckle fighter and used to travel the uk for fights, he was also apparently a grenadier guard before that.

True men with honour and courage!

  • tell him to have a look at bartley's book 'king of the gypsies'. im reading it at the moment & he mentions loads of knuckle men in there, from the early 1900's right up to today. your mates old fella might have got a mention in it.

  • Hard punches! Wudnt wanna b holdin that bag!

  • i think bartley was a true gentleman and his morals were bob on / you never back down from any man nor beast if you show weakness you have lost already , people try to copy him but no one will be him

  • bartley couldnt be beaten thats the thing

  • Wouldn't like to be on the other end of one of those punches. Someone told me he thought Bartley would have gotten beaten easily by a big man like Viv Graham, Lenny Mclean or the Taxman but I don't believe it.

  • A couple of those punches to an untrained fighter and it's game over.

  • go on u hard cunt bust his head up

  • My Grandfather was a prize fighter, there would be matches every month in Belfast,I wished I could have known him more, he passed when I was 4

  • leave12

It's called Raggle Taggle Gypsy. I used to a faster version sung by the Fenians. Great song no matter the tempo.

    From Detroit, Michigan USA

  • LEGEND!!!! i love bartleys book AND am reading it NOW for the 17th time. wish coulda seen him fight

  • Bartley says he asked roy shaw to fight but nothing came of it, personally i think both lenny and roy would have fought him and i reckon it could have been 2 classics, but nobody knows the truth but the three men mentioned and 2 are dead R.I.P.

  • Bartley never fought Lenny Mclean it would have been a great fight if they had fought though

  • Does anyone know what that song Bartley(RIP) sings in this video is?

I assume it's an old gypsy song, I love it. If anyone, maybe you Jerry could message me and tell me what it is I'd really appreciate it. Does a full recording exist anywhere?

  • hahahaha bartley woulda kiled any1 even that idot kimbo!!! kimbo cant even fight! he jus big! bartley a warrior a true fighter, roy shaw and lenny were scared ov him!and refused to fight him! fact.

  • bartley beat lenny at the coach and horses fifteen years ago

  • respect to all fighters , but roy shaw never ever heard of bartley so he said in an interview , and never challenged roy

  • A load of kelter and although I never knew him Bartley seems a much better person than Lenny.

  • bartley vs shaw

wow what a fight this would of been, fight of the century maybe ? but we will never know !!

    let sleeping horses lie.

personly i think bartley would of won, yes both strong stand up fighters, shaw being vicious.but he never faced a long drawn out fighter like bartley

but wasnt sam, bartleys brother the better fighter !!

anyway a true bare fist fighter bartley was !!

  • Good Video jerry, Im fron derbyshire and saw bartley fight Henry Quentin as i used to turkey pluck with Henry.... My god could bartley punch....personally i think he would have destroyed Roy shaw

  • Bet he had a few teeth stuck in the left hand. Whit a jab. He was Ill at this time of his life I believe. R.I.P legend

  • He's my great uncle! Sadly never met the great man! if you look at the pics in his books my dad is a spittin image of sean.

  • I know this has proably been asked a hundred time...but... Did Bartley ever meet Roy Shaw or Mclean??

  • ha ha is that it roy shaw would have killed him!

  • shut up you dont know what ya talkin about from the sound of things you know nuffink about fighting he would have punched roy shaw to peices and i could flatten you with one punch thats all ive got to say to you.

  • I would like to apoligise to jerry gorman no offence intented!

  • okay your probally only goin off what you read in books anyway if you ever had the privilage of knowing him your self you would know that he had unlimited strenghths and abillity. he fought from a very young age and never lost a fight.
