  • Brainerd

  • If there was a thaw on like in that scene, Minnesotans wouldn't have their hoods on like that. Heck, they might not even be wearin' their coats, ya know. All that water in the streets means its warm by north country standards, ya betchya.

  • man, the coen's are so funny and such great and inventive writers of dialogue, sometimes it goes over your head because they are very intelligent, and their humor isn't raunchy or slapsticky like so much else. bravo.

  • LOL accent fail.

  • "He says woman action. What do I look like? ..and I says what do I look like? I don't arrange that sort of thing."

  • Well, thanks a bunch for callin' her in!

  • My family is from Fargo. Last time I was there was in the 1970s. This so brings me back...

"Looks like she's gonna turn cold tomorrah."

[both look at sky at same time]

    "Yah got that right."

  • it looks like its the hugo feed mill behind them lol if u look it looks just like it!

  • my grampa lives in white bear lake! lol..nice to know we have stuff from our small towns in this movie! love this part! sounds just like my grampa! lol (im kinda in the cities, though by tha way. lol right by Ham lake, not gonna tell where im from though)

  • @hagen5690 It is hilarious because this guy looks and sounds just like my grampa Lathrop from that area. Lol he told me that this movie was nothing like real Minnesota (I'm from another state) but I beg to differer :)

  • @iamyouifyouareme Yea, We all like to say not everyone talks like the movie fargo. Cuz really Fargo isnt IN minnesota! Its in north dakota! And i know a few people who are living here now that werent raised in minnesota, they say I DO talk like a minnesotan. Awe well, I love it. We may be made fun of for it, but i get to watch HGTV and Holms on Homes and I cant tell a difference in how they talk! Whenever i hear a canadian minnesotan accent feels like home xD

  • funniest movie!

  • "Looks like she's going to turn cold tomorrow"

    "Oh yah"

    "Gotta front coming in"

    "Yuup you got that right"

  • CRACKS me up! the way those coat hoods are sticking up in the air while they are talking.

    "righto"

"well...that don't sound like too good a deal for him"

  • @patienceangela Me in my coat hood, people say "don't wear your coat hood like that" and I say "hey, you ever seen a picture of an eskimo?" and they say "yeah" and I say "well, was he wearing a hat" and they say "No, he was wearing a hood" and I say "yah, why do you think you never see an eskimo wearin a hat?" and they say "geez I donno, that's true; you don't see an eskimo wearing a hat" and I say "well, I think they must know something about staying warm."

  • I know a bartender from Minnesota, he sounds pretty much just like this.

  • oh my god this is my favorite scene from any movie ever thank you

  • Geez I'm crazy out there at the lake.

  • Mr. Mora (spelling?) is probably the single best character in Coen Brother's movie history. End of story.

  • Wellllll that dont sound like too good a deal for him then XD

  • You guys from up north (I live up north..or nord as you call it here) that claim you don't talk like that...you are so full of it. You do to! Yah..that's super! Hear that all the time! It is exactly how you talk..that is what makes this movie so funny..it is deadly accurate in the dialect and phrases

  • @theawesomeman867 they talk like that in minnesota, they talk like that in montana, they talk like that in canada, too.

  • @lonsumtravlr They don`t talk like that everywhere in Canada. Only in some parts.

  • @kolby47 I know. I'm being an asshole is all. I think they talk like that throughout most of Montana, though.

  • Hilarious scene! Genius movie,

  • in my top 10 movies of all time ever!!!

  • sound more Canadian to me.

  • So I called it in.

    End of story.

  • "End of story." LOL I love it! This scene, and the "Fountain of conversation" scene with Buscemi and Stormare in the car are just fantastic! A great moive from start to finish. It's definitely in my top 3 favorite movies of all time. I just need to figure out the other two. LOL

  • us ppl from north dakota sound nothing like that at all

  • It's really just poking fun at anyone in the midwest. They exaggerated it so it would be funny.

  • @KADE23129 that's too bad, you would be more interesting if you did.

  • Comment removed

  • I love how he refers to his wife as Mrs. Morrah. XD

  • this is the best part of the movie

  • saw this back in the day didnt really connect with it but now i think its a masterpiece!!!!! "u got that right"

  • You don't have to be from ND to identify with this scene. I grew up in Northern NY near the Canadian border and other than the different accent, the folks up there are alot like that...What a slice of Americana. Ha! My dad had a green parka just like that! But, I agree w others, he wouldnta worn it on warmer winter days.

  • more like anything north of poughkeepsie

  • I'm from Fargo and I gotta tell you, I catch myself from time to time talking just like that don't ya know! Uffda that's a good scene there! One of my favorites.

  • @grinde060 oh jeez they say uffda in fargo too? u must have someone u know with norwegian ancestry! i use uffda all the time! im from minnesota! my grampa is from norway! i love my cultural upbringing!

I asked someone in canada if he knew what the word uffda ment he said no. so im assuming they dont use it. but then again, not everyone in minnesota knows the word either.

  • This is the only scene in the movie where they really nail the northern dialect.

  • "Jeez, I'm goin' crazy at the lake"! LOL

I LOVE this movie and all the other Cohen Brother's movies!

Either you get them or you don't!

  • Right-oh!!

  • Oh, he was a little guy, kinda funny lookin'. LOL!

  • in a general kind of way...

  • Such a simple seen, but it is a classic. I havent seen a movie like this in ages.

  • gEEEEze I'm goin' crazy out there at the lake.

  • Only he don't use the word "jerk"

  • i was born in st. paul...this makes me remember and miss the place

  • Well, Ecklund & Swedlin's, that's closer ta Moose Lake, so I made that assumption.

  • good vid-this was

  • bahaha

  • Yeah.. and us british dont speak like snobby stuck up pompose queen worshipers, americans make it seem like we all talk that way in there films, that super pisses me of!

  • some do. my grandpa does. it's ok.

  • Oh please! films in the US and UK exaggerate EVERYBODY'S accents. There are worse things to be pissed off about. No need to be sensitive. I'm from Chicago and everyone thinks we all talk like the Superfans from SNL( Da Beerz!). You think it bothers me? It's fun. Besides if someone based facts about people from a film, they need to get out more and learn.

  • That guys dead now, and I don't mean of old age.. LOL!!!

  • That line is priceless.

  • Fargo - best movie

  • best part of the movie!!!!!!!!! wooo!!!

  • im from fargo. and we dont really sound like the way they do in the movie. that annoys me a bit....

  • aww it's ok their pretty much making fun of all Minnesotians cuz i'm from white bear lake and i don't talk like that either at all but i love to pretend to!!! :D just to annoy people i know from chicago hehehe go bears! ;p

  • people with a thick dakoten' accent do sound like that... really you do. My family is from ND. A little town called St. Thomas near Grafton, and yeah they nailed it.

  • the snow is melting, why aren't they in shorts?

  • cuz there's a cold front com'n in, dontcha know?

  • @spencermcgrew love you! its about 36F here in blaine, minnesota at the moment, as im posting this :P and its perfect weather! saw a guy out with his shorts on! no one thought anything of it!

  • "Oh kinda funny lookin."

    "in what way?"

"oh, just a general kinda way."

    made be crap my pants.

  • Aye that had me in stitches too :D

  • I have a friend whose dad talks like these guys

  • "So...I don't say nothin...he says 'What do you think about that' and I says 'Well...that don't sound like to good a deal for him then'..."

    Brilliant

  • But I'm going crazy out there at the lake...

  • My favorite scene!

  • unbelievably great movie

  • The "No Country for Old Men" scene is titled "It's a mess".

  • Great scene! Compare this to "No Country for Old Men" scene of sherrif and deputy looking at the big murder scene. Regional dialects and understatement. Good work Coens!

  • i love this scene. THis scene was not shot in Brainard but in Hallock MN a city 20 mi south of the canadian boarder. This is where my father grew up. My grandparents lived a couple of blocks away from this guys house and two houses down from the elevator in the background

  • "It's gonna get cold tomorrow!" He says while he's brushing *snow* off of his driveway :D Best scene in the movie.

  • Doesn't have to be cold for there to be snow. You can walk around outside all day wearing a heavy sweatshirt for the first dozen or so degrees of snowy weather :P

  • one of the best scenes!!! "End of Story" just love that :)

  • wow i am so happy this is on youtube

  • all in one shot, this is my favorite scene of dialogue

  • Fantastic writing!

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves this scene. xD

I love how he just keeps rambling on.

  • Right-O

  • my favorite scene in the movie!

  • this is such a funny scene, "cheese im going crazy"

  • I've live in Minnesota my whole life and I've never owned a jacket that big lol.

  • that IS how we discuss the weather here

  • And I miss it so much. I live in Japan now and the extent of the weather talk is "Atsui!" (it's hot) or "Samui!" (it's cold").

Nobody has ever supplied me with so much as a temperature, much less a dewpoint or a windchill!

  • "End of story" lol

    Represent Minnesota, yeah!!!

  • haha, I agree bryonpav. Maybe if that cold front hit it'd be worth the hoods and all, but as a lifetime resident of Minnesota, I'd never wear something so heavy if it was warm enough for the snow to be melting like that. If the snow's melting, you wear your spring jacket or a heavy shirt, tops.

  • One of the Greatest scenes of all time,Classic Dialogue. The Best!!

  • this film is a masterpiece , who needs slick thrillers , and romantic shitty comedies .i got that right

  • "so you think im some kind of jerk for asking only he doesnt use jerk" i love this movie.. bryonpav go to minnesota in january.. you'll see how cold it can get.

  • Don't they seem a little overdressed. The snow's clearly melted, how cold can it be?

  • It's when snow melts that it gets the coldest! I know, I lived in Ohio for 10 years.

  • it can even be sunny and super cold at the same time. i live in western washington, and sometimes we will even have school cancelation due to thick ice on all thr rods, but there wont be a cloud in the sky

  • Critics commited a big mistake to consider Fargo a Comedy Movie. How many of you (people) think that Fargo is a Drama Movie? (Great Scene)

  • I love this part in the movie, hahaha

  • Isra555 is a hypocrite.

  • this film I think was very good, sometime difficult to understand the english but style character and story everything work prefect.

  • "Just in a general kinda way", lol

  • lol
