Butti's are kept with mbuna's because they are too fast. Another thing, buy a dovii around 3-4 inches and buy an auratus or kenyi the same size. You will be shocked how strong mbuna's are.

If both the Dovii and Butti were identical size IMO in most cases the Butti would take it, I had a 16" Buttikoferi (21/4" thick at the head) in a 180 4 years ago and it banged the glass so much it cracked 12mm plate! I donated him to a indoor pond complex and the kid there said I'll put him in this 400g pond but there's a 14" Dovii and a Red Devil - The next day both were dead....

Not really, the Butti is aggressive but in no means can it match the power of a Dovii of equal or even a bit smaller proportion . The Buttikoferi's downfall is the small size of it's mouth. The Butti can lock on the Dovii's lip, but the Dovii will lock on the Butti's entire face. 3 out of the 5 members of the Parachromis family cichlids all have exceptionally large mouths with power to back it up.
Fishkeeping isn't about who has the toughest or most aggressive fish, just like people that own pit bulls. It's just a dumb reason to have ANY animal for that purpose. By the way, you shouldn't even keep Doviis with any other fish. Real fish hobbyists only keep them singly or in pairs.
first of all im not a serious fish hobbyist, and second of all almost every REAL fish hobbyist knows that doviis are almost commonly used just to kill and eat useless fish in their tank/aquarium.

The Dovii is NEW to the tank and he beat both fish like nothing.

And one more thing. The most powerful of all cichlids for it's size is Telmatochromis dhonti. ANYONE who have kept them will tell you the same thing.
It is common for other fish to lose their jaws while lip locking with T. dhonti.

jesus your a dumb fuck a butti would waste a dovi my 16inch butti is relentless and has killed loads of cichlids that ppl have said i can keep with them 1 umbee lasted 2days 1 flowerhorn lasted about 3-4 hours 1 dovi lasted 3 days was a good scrap but the butti just wouldnt leave it alone butti's are by far one of the most underestimated cichlids they are pure evil mine has bitten me hundreds of times he has also killed a 20inch pleco

Not really, the Butti is aggressive but in no means can it match the power of a Dovii of equal or even a bit smaller proportion . The Buttikoferi's downfall is the small size of it's mouth. The Butti can lock on the Dovii's lip, but the Dovii will lock on the Butti's entire face. 3 out of the 5 members of the Parachromis family cichlids all have exceptionally large mouths with power to back it up.

Fishkeeping isn't about who has the toughest or most aggressive fish, just like people that own pit bulls. It's just a dumb reason to have ANY animal for that purpose. By the way, you shouldn't even keep Doviis with any other fish. Real fish hobbyists only keep them singly or in pairs.
