I have had NDE myself and I can say that your life does flash before you and I have seen the light as well. Since my brush with NDE, I value things like friendship and family more than anything and also I am not materialistic because you cannot take it with you into the next life. There is something else after death. Death is not the end, it is just a passage. @MrSeekLoad , we don't know where a god could be located (in what dimension, or all). Something that is possible in theory doesn't mean it's actually possible. Like traveling between alternate dimensions, it sounds cool to be able to, but we live on this ball of rock where we have to wait for smart people to do experiments until its proven. Sometimes a theory may convince people too, like the big bang, but that one's checkable by observing the universe.

@MrSeekLoad , we don't know if ghosts/matter can swap dimensions, we would first need to have edvidence (not only theories) about parallel dimensions. Then we somehow have to track a particle and see if it randomly disappears (like ghosts?). A higher power could 'prove' the creation of matter, but then you'll have the question: of what material/matter/etc. does that higher power consist of? You can't say it consists of nothing; then you contradict the theory of there being a god..

@micinum: I am not religious, and I've already seen Zeitgeist. Not everybody who believes in an afterlife or believes that consciousness is not limited to the brain is religious. To my knowledge the more impressive forms of terminal lucidity and severe hydrocephalus are neurological mysteries of which no amount of books can answer. @darthglowball I don't believe in predicted cause,but not in coincidence ether.So there for I do believe in a cause just not a predicted cause.Almost nothing is a coincidence and the universe and nature is definitely not a coincidence.It is scientifically to complex to be a coincidence.So logically to not make things as a coincidence it needs a intelligent being or power as a god or whatever you want to call it.So we may not have solid prof of a god but we have logical prof of something like it.

If you say a god made everything, you're contradicting your own theory that things can't be made from nothing: God had to be made from something too! But as long he is not in our dimensions we can't have scientific proof as long we cant prove anything in other dimensions. Science can only prove that other dimensions exists but not what is in them and nothing else of them except that maybe the "strings in the string theory" travel true dimensions. so your wrong wen saying nothing can travel true dimensions. @MrSeekLoad , we don't know where a god could be located (in what dimension, or all). Something that is possible in theory doesn't mean it's actually possible. Like traveling between alternate dimensions, it sounds cool to be able to, but we live on this ball of rock where we have to wait for smart people to do experiments until its proven. Sometimes a theory may convince people too, like the big bang, but that one's checkable by observing the universe.

So if a matter can travel in between dimensions and ghost can do that as well why would not a intelligent power source be able to? @MrSeekLoad , we don't know if ghosts/matter can swap dimensions, we would first need to have edvidence (not only theories) about parallel dimensions. Then we somehow have to track a particle and see if it randomly disappears (like ghosts?). A higher power could 'prove' the creation of matter, but then you'll have the question: of what material/matter/etc. does that higher power consist of? You can't say it consists of nothing; then you contradict the theory of there being a god..

We have no hard proof, but the explanation may lie unproven yet. I men if they do not swap dimensions then how can they go through energy wen they are made by energy? We still don't know the DNA code of humans or every animal or how the brain works.we don't really know how every part of the DNA works we just know it does. The god theory is an endless loop that I think can not be solved: if you say 'give me edvidence for god', you can show him the universe, but that's not the answer. God theory sys everything has a creator, while god himself hasn't one. See the contradiction there? It's an endless loop.

I for one do believe in life after death, based in part by the testimonies and evidence brought forth by the NDE, but also because the idea that we are merely our brains conflicts with too much of what we can observe. For example, there are people who can think, remember, speak, and behave normally with barely any brain (as seen in severe hydrocephalus patients and terminal lucidity). There are also single-cell organisms without a brain that can learn, have sex, avoid predators, and find food.

@micinum: I am not religious, and I've already seen Zeitgeist. Not everybody who believes in an afterlife or believes that consciousness is not limited to the brain is religious. To my knowledge the more impressive forms of terminal lucidity and severe hydrocephalus are neurological mysteries of which no amount of books can answer. Books can only tell you what we already know, not what we don't. Also, there is no conventional explanation for veridical perception during NDEs.

look up Pam Reynolds. This is the best documented case. She had brain surgery that required her to be clinically dead. Body temp 10 degrees, ears plugged, eyes taped, heart stopped. Alive only by a machine pumping blood and oxygen into her lungs. Upon awakening, she described the tools used during her surgery, conversation regarding a problem, the amount of people in the room as well as names. A common statement: God could care less what religion you choose; but rather the love you give.

It's physically impossible to see something with your eyes when they are closed and your brain is not visually recording what you see. Yet patients describe in minute detail everything during their surgery, which is verified by the medical team. The only way to explain this, is that they viewed everything from outside of their body where they were able to feel, see, hear everything that went on.

Ive never had a Near Death Experience, but my great grandfather visited me in a dream one time, and I felt the same thing that people describe in near death experiences, the comfort, and warmth, and love. in my dream i saw my great grandfather. he looked beautiful, and healthy and had color and his face was plump, and in behind him was a beautiful green tree that totally covered the whole back ground, but the feelings that i felt, love, warmth and comfort, were projected from him to me.
