  • The saddle I used in this video was a collegiate with the gullet system - it worked fine fitting him, but I did not get the close contact I get with my 2003 Tad Coffin. And the T C fits his withers fine also. Older T C saddles have a wide tree...new ones are different I think though. I have to say though...many people have ridden him with all different types of saddles and there has never been a problem.

  • what size tree do you use on him for that english saddle?

  • Yes he is lazy and the canter goes no were:) your lower leg swings nawn stop and your uper body tilts forward alot around corners. Who cares? Your learning one step at a time that's all you can do then things will fall in place...work with out strips is good but hard work grate for balance! x

  • taken on my bday :)

  • he doesnt look lazy, it pisses me off at least you can get your horse to canter, mine wont and i have to stick a fuckin 3 foot jumps, coz she so lazy, but i think your a great rider (:!

  • Thanks...he has gotten better...best of luck with your horse..

  • Who ever said to grip with your knee is wrong. Consistent contact through the thigh, a soft and supple knee and contact throughout the lower leg. More important than a jammed down heel is where the leg is at the girth (Stirrup leather perpendicular to the ground) is more important than a heel down. NEVER grip your knee. Grippng at the knee will cause you to pivot at the knee, thus throwing your lower leg back and then often causing a "jumping ahead" of the horse movement.

  • ok who cares how she rode the horse if your giving advice to someone that already has a trainer your the one who needs some advice and here is some SHUUT UP

  • so cute!!!! :) good work ;D

  • I already sent one to your email.

  • thnx( :

  • my shire jumps 3'6". there's lots of incredible youtube videos of drafts jumping with incredible scope, but I guess you do have to be careful of impact on suspensory, etc.

  • he's beautiful and you two seem to work well as a team together. Did you enter him in my drafty contest yet?

  • Lovely Riding If You Grip A Little More With Your Knees And Sit More On Your Bum You Will Sit Perfect To His Canter, good lower leg position,Reach For His Ears When Jumping And You Wont Gab Him,Good Riding Keep It Up =]

  • Try to keep your forward motion before during and after the jump. In other terms, keep moving through the whole jump. You first walk to canter transition was exellent by the way though. Your last few jumps were great as well. Although you seem to have a hard time turning him after the jump and he practically runs into the wall. Perhaps some suppling exersises would be useful to make his mouth softer. Gorgeous horse by the way. You should be pleased.

  • Thanks for the comments...this is an old video, and we have gotten much better since then. I have to get another video up soon.

  • gorgeous horse! :)

u 2 look great together and nice riding!

  • you have a good lower leg position

  • very very pretty horse. nice jumping too. (:

  • I just can repeat all those comments! You and your horse are a perfect match! I just went on your barn website and I want to congratulated you to be the ridder of the month!(sorry my english is not perfect). Your horse rocks because DRAFT HORSES ARE GREAT!!!

  • Thanks so much...happy riding!

  • Your boy looks so lovely, love the lead changes over the 2nd jump. I have a PerchX and they are such wonderful horses with giving natures.

  • Shamus looks like such a lovely horse! You guys go so well together. When I get a horse I'd love one like him =)

  • Thanks...He is between 16 1-2...he's all muscle..lol.

  • omg gorgeous! he looks very well schooled (loving the upward canter transitions!), i tip my hat to you LOL. you know you have a balanced horse when you get a half lead change in the back end instead of the front. i love draft crosses, they just look so damn indestructible. great riding =]

  • you guys look great! i just got a thoroughbred shire x and i hope we'll be doing as well as you guys are soon...

    what is this song playing?

  • The name of the song is " A Girl and Her Horse by Carbon Leaf" I love it...Thanks..best of luck with your horse.

  • Wow, I want him! Lol he's amazing! So so pretty! I just might have to come sneak him out of his pasture ;D Jk jk but he is lovely. You two make a great pair as well!

  • Ohh hhe is really gorgeous - I love the build of the percherons :)

Looking great - what a lovely canter :)

  • Thanks

  • good job! One thing you might wanna try is counting down to the jump so you get your strides a bit smoother. That will also help him to jump easier. ^_^ Really good job ^_^

  • Shamus is so cute... He looks like a lot of fun to ride. I like how he gave you a BIG jump at the end. He is adorable! You're doing a great job with him. I often wonder if my big boy would jump... have to wait a while longer to find out... he's still a bit young. :)

  • aww reminds me of my girly kisses marie, they've got the thick necks... good job with your video!

  • SO FUNNY...I call Shamus MOO, lovingly of course..I'm sure Ive refered to him as moose b4 also...best of luck to you and Eli.

  • He is very handsome - you two make a good pair! I'm just getting started with Eli - my big moose! He is 16.2+.

Shamus looks very smooth and responsive.

    Julie

  • OH MY GODD!!!

    Your Horse is beautiful!!

    Perfect transitions

you and your horse look great

    Prefect Match i'd say =]

    i'm so jelious!

    I want a draft horse, either a

    clydesdale or shire

  • Thank you.....May you get what your heart desires...BTW - your horses are lovely.

  • Wow, loved the nice canter depart from a walk! Also, doesn't seem heavy in your hands which is awesome, especially for a draft!!

    Good for you!

  • Thanks for the kind comments...My reins are a bit long, and I need to get him a little more ahead of my leg...he's being a dumpty dump here. It's just when he really gets going, it's like driving a freight train...lol

  • Trust me, I certainly understand the draft horse frieght train ride! ha ha He/she will lighten up as he begins to use his "hind end motor" more. I continue to struggle with my mare but it is worth every minute...she is worth it!! Best of luck to the pair of you:)
