@CHANNELMICHAEL that's not actually what I dislike about the opening but the CBS Times News Roman font.. Lucida is okay though their 2008 graphics is far better but I don't dislike the Lucida font.. I don't want them changing this again and again..only that they should stop using Times New Roman as CBS News font.. so cheap
@CHANNELMICHAEL Bob Petterson did it.. before CBS News have decent graphics designed by NOVOCOM. In 2006 the CBS Evening News graphics improved a lot (he didn't designed it) and these graphics are sooo wayy outdated. If I'm a viewer I would switch to TODAY or GMA, they have decent, clean graphics.. not just an inhouse design like CBS
@CHANNELMICHAEL you did that? i did that too. McManus is not a good fit for CBS News. They fired Shelly Ross and yet she is credited for the ratings boost of Early Show in 2008. Their ratings is down now. I hope they can recover especially now that they have the best team - Harry, Mags, Dave & Erica.
As of the Evening News, the current graphics sucks. They can't even afford to modify the set. they're still using the election backdrop. CBS anchors & news content are the only reasons I watch them
@CHANNELMICHAEL Face The Nation, CBS EVening News and Early's graphics looks very outdated.. they can't compete with NBC and ABC in that area. FTN is not in HD too. WTF with CBS. They have the best news and news people but their graphics and set sucks. 60 Minutes and CBS Sunday Morning however are 2 of the best. Bob Petterson can't design graphics for those shows.. he wasn't allowed to
I've seen the emails; the affiliates were given plenty of advance notice and exact details on where the new ticker needed to line up. Plus WCBS is located at CBS News HQ. They messed up, not the Early Show.
Very interesting, but precisely why CBS is in third in the morning. This isn't any different from the competitors... The affiliates were either uninformed of the change or informed on short notice by the ticker movement
Wow, The Early Show. I'm sorry, I tried to give it a shot this morning, and I just can't get into it! Harry Smith should be done for, how long has he been doing this? I also gave them a chance because I didn't like GMA with George. But I have since gone back, and George is starting to grow on me. The Early Show is just not my type.

They always seem to get ideas from the Today Show. The graphics that they used up to this point? Definitely similar to what the Today Show used from 06-09. How about a little originality and new ideas?? I like how there is like no one outside their studio. Hahaha nice.

@zack026101 To be honest. The Early Show, from a foreigner's perspective at least, is better than today. Today's logo is half of the Neurofen logo.

@BroadcastTVNews They're meant to use Book and Bodoni with Futura as their 'lighter' font, why they've used Times I have no idea.
