@yllibeqiri1 It's actually from Turkish but the original word is fakir and comes from Arabic Fakir=>Fukara.It's a loanword in Turkish from Ottoman times.In fact Turkish is full of Perso-Arabic loanwords...

@AthrihosPithekos You might be right, but the word that Greeks use for poor is Fukara, maybe they got that from Turkey, after all like all the Balkans it was under Turkish rule for over 500 Years

@yllibeqiri1 No,both words are used but i would say that mostly the Greek one...I'm from Greece so i think i know better. By the way the Arabic word (fukara) is mostly used by older individuals,not by the youth.
