I first heard about it through the Pixies so maybe that affected my opinion about it, but i think it's a cool little gem. I don't think they thought the track was utterly brilliant it sounds like it's just for fun.

Oh and they were taking more and more drugs, which after a while stops exciting the imagination and begins to destroy it. Producer George Martin argued that the white album should be a single, traditional Beatles album, brim-to-brim with quality, but the boys (particularly Paul) were adamant. Everything they did in the sessions had to go in.

@ANDROLOMA maybe if you hear this one song in isolation. i got the white album in cassette form years ago, and this track serves as a good intermezzo when i play through the cassette. you'll be tired if you just hear 'nice' songs. the bungalow bill song comes after this in the cassette, and it sounds much better if you hear this beforehand :)
