A new computer might help a bit, depending of what computer you had before. Usually when you buy a ready-to-go computer, the guys in the store put in a bad distributor and a "okay" graphics card and a good processor and then they call it a gaming computer. The power that the distributor supplies is just enough power for the comp. to run well. With this meaning, it's better to get a new good distributor (You can get a 500w for aroung 40$) and a good graphics card. :)
OK I figured out what you have to do you go to settings on the home page ang it will give you a graphicks selection from poor to best then you put it on your choice. it worked for me
can somebody help me? when i download planes on fsx it appears on the list and the picture appears but it isnt the airplane i downloaded at all, its like it got switched with another default picture......I NEED HELP PLEASE!!!!!
HERE IS THE SOLUTION: A few weeks ago my scenery AND my graphics, just like you, were a flat, NO 3-D, messed up thing and I discovered that if you uninstall fsx Acceleration it will WORK! Just don`t use acceleration or try reinstalling it if you have only Deluxe!
I have the same problem, when I set the graphics to high it starts to lagg and then there are green, brown stripes allover my screen then this happens that the resolution seems to be immediately set to low!
I have a HP dv6-1245dx The specs are 4GB Ram INTEL CORE 2 DUO 2.1 GHZ Windows Vista Home Premium Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD 1759MD Shared Video Memory 320GB Hard Drive DVD-RW Multi. So my computer can play FSX But it only plays up to LOW graphics if I do higher the game starts to lag. Any help?
well u hav a good computer but fsx sucks at framerates . i use fs2004 and its awesome when u add addons. plus better and more addons for fs2004 and it doesent suck up ur frames.
please never ever ever ever suggest a dell with vista....thats just asking for a computer that will last a couple months and fail lol obviously there is not too much knowledge about dell here....
I get this too but only when i am multitasking like right now i have fsx minimized and i know when i open it the graphics will look like this but after 2 mins or so it goes back to normal.
It's actually worse if u get Vista. There is a decrease in framerate on Vista. You just have to get XP 64 Bit, nVidia 9600GT an a motherboard ment for gaming by MSI
i have a super major problem. everytime i load and play my plane. the screen always zooms into the plane. really zooms into the plane. and ive tried re installing it and reseting all my settings.
Don't throw your money away on a Dell or HP and build your own... FSX bottlenecks heavily on CPU performance and cores. The graphics card only handles most eye candy dealing with all terrain and scenery, such as Anti aliasing and type filtering. Texture resolution and a higher fill rate on th GPU improve performance majorly in a few ways. Your CPU is always the largest factor in a system running FS poorly. I run it on a Q6600 @ 3.0GHz and a 9800 GTX and get a fine 25-50fps on ~max settings.
The best Vid card 4 FSX is nVidia 9600GT. My friend has one and he put everythign to max. antialising, antisphoric, 100% traffic, full scenery, autogen density extreme dense and it doesn't lag. and he is using xp. if u were to use Vista the Flight Sim would crash
I have a ATI Radeon 256mb AGP card. Is the one you mentioned AGP or PCI Express. Also i was considering if i should upgrade to vista as i hear there are less graphics issues
I have a 2.4GHz quadcore, a 9800GTX and 8GB ram. Even with a few settings to middle, I get a jumpung framerate of 6-25fps when on final or just at low flying altutude...
Note the speed I run mine compared to yours. I'll note I have only 2GB of D.Channel 667 RAM. I have it running at ~750 on OC with a 3.12GHz CPU with a resolution of only 1280x1024. By all means, if you want higher resolutions, you will obviously need more rendering power; but for running max settings generally, it doen't need the world's best computer... My GTX is a GTX+ model but fits the bill without modification.
LOL unlucky i get a minimum of 30fps on landing even though i have got a Pentium 4 3.2GHz with 1.5GB of DDR2 RAM with a ATI Radeon AGP Graphics card 256mb of dedicated video ram. Only thing is it only has 2 slots on the mobo and 1 is my graphics and the other is a usb card but i am happy with its performance
Just because you have XP doesn't mean your going to have worse performance.. Vista will actually have a worse hit because of all the visual crap. FSX is more processor intensive then anything. You NEED AT LEAST a Core 2 Duo. FSX utilizes 2 cores, thats why you need at least 2 cores. Yeah a nice video card will help, but thats not it. Trust me on this, I build computers and play FS. Iuse FS9 tho because FSX is more of a game than a sim, I have both tho, and I can get 40FPS on X with my N8600GTS
and my FSX runs at around 8 FPS at medium low and low graphics.... is it me or is that not right? if n e one can help me fix it i will be most grateful as i have been on countless forums and still no replys.
oh yeah and if you are going to fast or something, let it load... and sometimes in multiplayer it will load 2 times and nothing will be loaded, so sit there and let it load the mesh and textures
dont but it on ultra high unless u got very fast computer cause it takes time to load, thats y u see 1 house in the scenery at first and then houses start poppng up, put the graphics matching the speed of ur pc
A limitation of Flight Simulator is that you can't go over a certain speed which is determined by the CPU speed, If you go over that speed the scenery will start "blurring".
Your CPU probably isn't fast enough to draw at that speed.
I have fsx and it was working great but now it wont show me the in flight menu and the right click wont do anything. I tried repairing it with the fsx cd but it still doesnt work. Can anybody help me?
I have a similar issue. I just installed it to my new Vista and for some reson when you put it on a Vista the shortcut is missing and the 2-D cockpit is too. Does any 1 know how to fix that?
hey u need a fast prossesor, u may have the best graphics card but if u have a slow prosesor it will suck... believe me get a fast prossesor, u may need a dual core(quad better:)

this makes it hard to up grade if your frame rate is slow you need to upgrade your ram and your cpu the cpu isnt 775 slot so you cant exacly get quad core runing or even dual core this means you only have i chanal for nthe information to come in and out there are 4 parts that make up the cpu and with a dell

I just got a Dell with Windows Vista home premium with an ATI HD PRO graphics card and it runs much faster and the graphics are better but the graphics could be better. Any way to inprove them?
im gonna have to disagree with tht statement. FSX is a great sim, as well with all the FS series. Sure it may not be a REAL plane but hell, it beats wondering about what inside of planes look like as well as how they handle.

Ive got the settings maxed out.But I will be getting a dell custome made with an ATI Pro graphics card with windows vista primium and now I got a crappy old HP with an N-Vidia so I hope the new computer will help.
I have the same problem too. Really ruins flights sometimes. You would have thought that the game would 'remember' the ground textures after a 2 second pause to change views. I call sony, because my computers are sony, and the told me to send both of them back, because they need to check them. Also they told me that those graphic cards are very powerful and they should work perfectly.
I just got my laptop fixed and when i install FSX i get thie message-Error 1305.Error reading from file C:/ Program Files/Microsoft Games/Microsoft Flight Simulator X/Scenery/World/Texture/066F2SPD.BMP Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

Well I have 2 laptops one is (ASUS EAX1900XTX/2DHTV/512M) and the other one is (GeForce 7800 GTX) but still it doesn't work good.
I call sony, because my computers are sony, and the told me to send both of them back, because they need to check them. Also they told me that those graphic cards are very powerful and they should work perfectly.
