I have had this in my favorites for over a year. this really makes me feel it better than about any version I have ever heard. somethings are just better left to the ear. this is one of them. it's nice to see someone stand up for that. Outstanding! I can taste 1700's Scotland, the Applachians, the hillbilly dulcimer and the birth of the blues and gospel. It'a all there. In 1950's my grandfather who was a prominent churh singer in NYC took to us to a lecture at Juliard. It dealt with European church music of the 1500-1800 hundreds coming to America and how the sound changed when played in rural America churhes. They said the slides became popular because the sustained notes were reminicent of the pipe organs of the old country.
