  • I just keep my mouth shut, let the Dr prescribe the crap and act like I'm gonna use it. My kids are fine w/out the Vit D supplement. And what of all the vitamins that our bodies flush into the water system. We must think about how these are effecting the ecosystem. I've read both sides of the arguements on vitamin supplements. Just make the decision that is comfortable for you so you can live at peace as a parent.

  • My son is 2 months and he sure did get all of those shots, but the Ro. Was liquid and he threw it up. So just keep that in mind!

  • I was on the fence about vaccinations..then someone pointed out that not only are there risks associated with getting vaccines, they're not a guarantee of them being safe from that illness--a recent pertussis outbreak in my hometown got a lot of people, and everyone I know that got it had been vaccinated for it. They were treated after the infection with antibiotics and that worked just fine. Doesn't seem to be much point in risking it if it won't even guarantee they're safe from the illness!

  • Lye (sodium hydroxide) is sometimes listed as an ingredient where it's actually used in processing--that is, where no lye remains in the finished product. Probably the case here, but still sketchy. Babies get enough vitamin D with 10-15 minutes of filtered sunlight; there's no need to buy special supplements, except that Enfamil pushes them.

  • @mokienatrix My doctor told me my LO needed a vitamin D supplement and then proceeded to open a cupboard full of free samples from one specific company. That didn't make me feel comfortable. He was obviously pushing something he was probably paid to push. Anyway, my naturopathic doctor, as well as other alternative health practitioners, said my LO should get enough sunlight as long as we go on daily walks. My LO is both vaccine and Vitamin D-free and she's healthier than most her age.

  • My pediatrician suggested tri-vi-sol for a vitamin D supplement. After researching I found one of the main ingredients was sodium hydroxide, found in many cleaning supplies such as DRANO, 409 CLEANER ECT. No thanks.
