  • Blues just ate....

  • PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION: What speakers are in that he's playing? And what does he mean he relies on the power suction as opposed to the preamp?

  • /watch?v=U0WfBstXvIk

    Blues Saraceno If you Believe

  • He just woke up lol

  • i know

  • Blues is Soooooo awesome !

  • No, i don't know.

  • @diazluisdiaz LMAO!

  • Does anybody know how this amp compares to their custom 50? I heard a clip of the custom 50 and really liked it, but I'm wondering if that might be a little bit too much power. How does this stack up in price, quality, sound, etc. Thanks for the help!

  • I'm a big fan of Keith Urban's playing and tone too if that makes a difference for anyone's answer... (He uses a custom 50 most of the time)

  • @Chazekiel The Studio Stage is not as loud as the Custom 50, it is generally not as clean as it will break up faster through 12" speakers and it is more flexible, as it can be set to 20 or 40 watts (Class A) and it has built-in spring reverb and a push/pull gain knob for extra gain. • These Newer ones sound a little bit more compressed than some of the older ones. I am not super familiar with them but I think that the old ones are good and the new ones are good with just a little more distortion compression which makes sense because of how many people play today vs 1970

  • Good review..thank you.

  • You know?

  • Jimmy did use Orange amps and even had some on stage when they did the reunion show in London. Check the video footage. I would never make something like that up. I am not a fan of Orange amps and was surprised he used them.

  • just tone baby.

  • The tone kinda reminds me of Paul Gilbert. Maybe it's the Les Pauls P.A.F-pickups.

  • great tone!!!

i recently bought an orange ad30 as a compromise (considerably cheaper, but still british made with el84s)

but hiwatts are by far the best in my opinion!! :D

  • not more than you do.

  • what kind of hiwatt is the white one "haha" underneath the basses ??

  • Studio Stage head in white and matching Custom 2x12 Fane-loaded cab

  • ok, awesome an studio stage head.

if i get the money i defenatly gonna buy one of those.

  • dude, look to all that HIWATTS. thats is a dream. Alex Lifeson used HIWATT.

  • Why is it so expensive in the USA ?? I paid 1300 pounds for mine ... that would be like what, 1900U$ ??

  • they cost well over 3 grand in australia

  • Awesome tone outta those things.

But let's be honest, you can get pretty much the exact thing (often better, in fact) from Reeves Amps for half the price.

  • Blues is one of my favorite players of all time, he just got sick of being a virtusos being under the magifying glass of the young shredders so he just stepped out the limelight to live a normal life. but jis killer thands are always there to shut everyone uo if they get too upiddy

  • Blues is a great guitarist one of the greatest, completely underrated.

  • everyone doesn't mention led zeppelin, jimmy used one till 71

  • Jimmy Page was and is still a God. He also used Orange amps, and of course Marshals. The thing is he used a tonebender distortion/fuzz that was modified. That guy got so many tonal layers with Fender Teles, Gibson Les pauls, and pretty much anything he wanted! Long live Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page! Just for the record I still love Eddie Van Halen!

  • He never used Orange amps. He used sound cities, then custom hiwatts then Marshalls for his live work.

  • Jimmy does use Oranges... if you watch the wonderful movie, "It Might Get Loud", You can see a couple of Oranges in the background.

  • @clehneis Jimmy used the Orange Matamp for his theremin in the Zep days, he uses some type of model, a black one these days. It's his main setup.

  • @JimmyPage968 He uses an Orange AD30 as part of his live rig.

  • @JimmyPage968 well not this particular model, a souped up Custom DR103.

  • yeah what a dickwad

  • where's his hair? getting old sucks...

  • este tio toca como le sale de los cojones... jajajaj es increible!

  • when you record, is it better a head & cab or a combo?

  • I prefer to go with a lower wattage amp, so you can drive it. Problem with a combo is you may get some tube rattle in the sound. Disconnect the speaker and use an extension cab, or use a head. I think you'll find the wattage will make all the difference. If you can't crank a tube amp to get a sound, you may as well use a modeler.

  • Sounds great. Excellent demo. Saraceno is one of my favorites as well.

    I WANT THAT HIWATT!!!!

  • is that a stock amp? or has the speakers or tubes been replaced??

  • You guys are kidding about the Strat and Les Paul, right? How many ugly ass, toneless, bizarro world guitars have been offered to the public since the 50's and nobody bought them or took them to the pinnacle of stardom? You use what works.

  • sounds like my MG in the beggining.....shit

  • i hate how they always play a les paul or strat in demo videos drives me nuts

  • Like it or not those are the most popular designs and using them in demos will appeal to more people. I wish more people didn't play Les Pauls and Strats but until more innovative and uncommon designs catch on we're kind of stuck with them in every demo, except for the occasional PRS.

  • You know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • does somebody know how much times he said "you know"?

  • Yeah, clearly a guy who makes his living playing guitar playing recording and demoing pickups and amps for companies has never played anything but a DSL.

  • I really wish I had 4 grand...

  • LOl at the fools down ranked the hiwatt comments. go fuck yourself, marshall plexi is the most overrated amp ever. hiwatt beats it, stomps it and smashes its face in clarity, definition, crunch and warm tone.

  • Is it just me, but I think the miking of this amp in this video was not so good.

  • Agreed, it's a sm57 straight on near the middle of the cone... which equals this sort of fuzzy, crackly sort of sound. Which is a shame, I like it when you hear a bit of the room with it, so it gives you a better idea of what it actually sounded like. Anyway, whoever gave your comment the thumbs down is a lunatic.

  • Eh what are ya gonna do man. Some guys look at the HIWATT badge and instantly think that the amps gonna be killer. Keep in mind HIWATT was bought out. Harry Joyce (wiring engineer for HIWATT) and Dave Reeves (Founder and designer of HIWATT amps) are long dead. If they heard what this amp sounded like they'd be spinning in their graves. Any body considering buying this amp should try Reeves amps out. Those guys stay true to vintage HIWATT design and have a few of their own flavors too.

  • At the start before I saw it all I thought it sounded like a plugin ala Guitar Rig. Probably due to the '57 and no ambience.

  • I like the el84 sound the amp is getting. It seems that power amp tubes have a great deal to do with the overall tone of a tube amp. El 34's have their own distinct sound as well. Plus I think Saraceno is one of the best guitarists out there. I love the demo clips he did for Bogner as well.

  • Yeah yeah Blues : WE KNOW !!

The amp sounds good though...nice crunch : what about slighter crunch or clean with single coils ????

  • Work single amazning with single coils. I went for the Custom 20 (which is a similar sounding amp) because I felt my Strat sounded thin but the Hiwatt really thickened it up with a nice crunch/clean all avail from hitting the string at varying degrees of intensity.

  • is the hiwatt like a marshall

  • a hiwatt is like a hiwatt, it has it's own sound. i've recently switched from using a marshall stack to using a hiwatt stack for live shows, and i can tell you it definately sounds different. seems to have more of a spongy, compressed feel at high volume.

  • Marshall tries really hard to sound like hiwatt...but hiwatt beats in volume, tone, and clarity

  • Wow he looks really old. Go view his older videos. He had long hair. He got old!

  • I know, hes only 35 here but he looks late 40s!

  • You know..Blues Saraceno has tone and feel..you know..doesn't matter what he plays..you know..it all sounds like Saraceno...you know..tastefull!

  • hes still alive?

  • you know, you know, you know... you know, damn how many you knows did he say you know...!!! jojojo... anyway, still plays like a mother fucker...!!! but what happen' to Dirty Boy...!!?? fav album... Plaid.

  • Awesone Dude!! and soooo cool in white!! Yehah!

  • Blues has a very rich tasty imaginative and tantalizing style. Not a bunch of neo classical riffs run together showing off finger gymnastics; everyone is doing that these days. This is a very effective promo video but give me a break on the price of this amp. 4K....why...There are too many builders available to get you something like this for under a grand. read the info on their web site it says this amp has 2 el 34's and 4 el 84's. They cant even get their facts straight.

  • 4K is a normal price for a completely hand-wired amp in a small custom shop in England, maybe too much money for most people but sure worth it! where does it say 2 el34? Blues is the man!

  • Real hard to believe that 4K is a normal price for a combo, i dont care where it is built. Anyone paying that kind of money has to be filthy rich and doesnt care or out of touch. The description of the amp states that you can run on 2 el34's and then switch to four el 84's

At least that is what it reads where i am located. Maybe they caught the blunder and fixed it. Thanx for the reply and filling me in on the price details. I know I wont buy one and will stay away from UK builders.

  • UK Handwired amps are awesome. Your looking at high end gear so your going to have to pay alot of money for it. Hiwatt amps r superb.

  • How can a HIWATT custom be more awesome than any of the botique amps built in the USA? We have folks here dedicated to tone and quality. We all know that all of the hi end amps of today came about from the simple design of the Fender Bassman from Leo Fender, I don't think the position on the planet has anything to do with the quality aspect, check out Ceriatone site and reviews. There is a local man selling a HIWATT custom 1x12combo in brand new condition for 1350, quite a loss in investment.

  • I'm not saying that the price of this specific Hiwatt isnt overpriced, I am disagreeing with your comment about "staying away from UK Builders" as its bullshit. Marshall, Orange, Vox and Hiwatt amps have been the mainstay of rock music for the last 30 years. I own a Mesa Boogie aswell as a Hiwatt, so I aint saying US amps and other amps arent good, just stating that British amps have shaped rock music and continue to be among the best amps ever produced.

  • it is cheaper than a mesa lonestar combo over here in UK. It is all about transport costs and customs duty etc.

lonestar combo costs $3500 over here

    This amp costs $3000

  • I agree

  • Hiwatt is great but to me, its to much money, for us players now these days. It's a shame that some younger musicians like myself can't afford these amazing pieces of equipment. We are truthfully the players of tomorrow!

  • I remember when he won the GFTPM contest for best undiscovered guitar player...I think he went on to join Poison not long after that..

  • That would have been around ...88/89 ish??? I think he was about 18 then

  • I meant to say 16

  • man i wish i had about 5000 bucks to get some of that shit right now...lol

  • you know...

  • sounds just like the ehx english muffin

  • This amp sound fucking phenomenal.

  • for $4000 it better sound awesome. This amp eats Marshall.

  • lol, this proves that is does matter what kind of guitar he plays. les paul or watever, its gonna sound like blues saraceno!!

  • Giggle !!! Yeee ha awesome!!!

  • For 4 grand it better be fucking nice.

  • Agreed - Blues is one of those incredible players that continually proves that a large contingent of good tone comes from fingers. Great demo though...

  • don't get fooled by b.s. promoting gear...this guy's so good he'll ALWAYS sound great!! you can buy all he promotes, even his underwear and the odds are that you won't sound even CLOSE!!!

  • yup !! lol

  • Blues Eres el Mejor!

    Blues YOU Are the BEST!!!

  • Blues is great....when he plays! His instructional vid is painful to watch cause he won't shut up & just play.

  • Haha but that is the way to do a instructional vid, if you want a shutup/justplay instructional you got the first instructional of Yngwie =).

  • I Counted 21 "You Knows"

  • And it's just part 1!

  • Great tone, great vibrato, great player - Nice!
