  • This is Shredmistess Rynata or Renate as I was known then. I played on this track. Whoa... long time ago. I was in ISIS in 1975 and a turbulent time it was indeed. Worlds collided. Much fun though,

  • wow how great to see and hear them all after all these years, i got them a gig in woodstock, the village hall wow so long ago, not a great turnout they were unknown- but hey they were so way ahead of their time, way way ahead, they could easily do t all now and smash it... love to all sky

  • Anyone have any videos of the band in 1975 "Ain't No Back'in Up Now" When I was one of the sax/flute players. Would love to see it!

  • I would like to see them perform as well since my mother was the bass player for ISIS. I may have to contact Ron Guitman who was their former manager to see if he has some video footage of them performing. These ladies were ahead of their time and gave the men a run for their money as well. But this group had made history as being female pioneer musicians in the music industry. VH1 needs to do a documentary on the group. Ron did you read this.... make this happen..or I will

  • I was in Isis, sax/flute was your Mom's name Stella. Would love to reconnect. Please let me know, Thanks, Edith

  • It could've been their big break, shame it never happened. The title track is a grower

  • After hearing the samples of all three albums (plus a few tracks in their entirety) I had the debut down as a masterpiece. ANBUN is its equal.

  • thank you for this video and poignant reminder..... i live in europe now but back then i was in the states. isis ruled... carol was generous to so many women musicians then. good days and many inspiring jams.

  • I have a huge collection of Goldie and the Gingerbreads photos, news clippings, as well as a tour book from when they toured with the stones back in the 60's. All the rolling stones signed it. Let me know if you are interested.

  • Shout out to whomever put this video together...the recording is from approx 1975; the photos from approx 1978.

There was no video of the song at the time the album was recorded...35 YEARS AGO! The song comes from the group's second album ("Ain't No Backin' Up Now) produced by the infamous Alan Toussaint in his New Orleans studio. The photos were taken during a gig we did in Bermuda, approx 1979. Thanks again to whomever put this all together.

  • @faithfu

Hi Faith, This is Gigi daughter of Stella Bass CEO of UpDaBlock Music located in NJ and Atlanta GA. I had spoke with Ron a few months ago regarding some video footage of the group to get. Allot of people on the east coast is requesting to view ISIS on VH1 as well as have them featured on HBO as a documentary. I had spoke with the band members and they're willing to do it. Just waiting for Ron to come forward with some video footage of the band. This would be phenomenal to see.

  • @faithfu Hey!! I met you back in I think is was 1977 or 78, I was like 16, It was so amazing to meet all of you. I was a friend of Benita's at the time. This video was amazing!! ISIS was an awesome group. You should check out my bands on facebook donde aqui and fore dee, and zen again.

  • @faithfu Would you be interested in a copy of a CD from the Bermuda gig?

    Annie LaGattuta

  • their music`s is just great!

  • Hey! I know Susan Ghezzi who was a member of the band. I think she played bass. Last time I saw her she was running a graphic design studio in Hopewell Junction, NY. She's a helluva great fine artist and musician, too. Hope you're well Susie!

  • Suzie was the guitar player on the first "Isis" album. If you see her, tell her Faith said 'HI!"

  • All the ISIS videos:

    -ISIS -APRIL FOOL (1974)

    -ISIS -"DO THE FOOTBALL" (1974)

-ISIS-"AIN'T NO BACKIN' UP NOW" (1975)

    Also,

-YVONNE FAIR-"FUNKY MUSIC SHO' NUFF TURNS ME ON" (1975)

  • followed ISIS all though their manhattan gigs. was on summer vacation (high school) from california. i played guitar in an all girl band and was just awed by how good everybody was. carol broke my heart. i was 18. X599, i just read your comments here - cn you please email more detail on carol, thank you...

  • The photo at 00:21 are Goldie & The Gingerbreads, the detail shows Carol MacDonald. Genya Ravan(above) was the only one from that band, who did not participate later in Isis. Ginger Bianco was (probably on the right) the first drummer, Margo Lewis (then on the left) played keyboards in the end.

If that is of any interest. Carol died last year (March 2007).

  • Love this jam!

  • My mother Stella Bass rocked the bass with ISIS, got to put up concert footage. That's what i want to see concet footage from their shows.

  • What is that sixties-looking picture from where Carol is all femmed out?

  • It's a Goldie & The Gingerbreads photo from around 1964. It came from the Rhino box set, "Girl Group Sounds". It seemed appropriate to get her lineage into this one!

The best Funk band you've never heard of!
