@jaktje it depends on what style you plan to play..for some contemporary styles, playin bass is just a couple of bass notes you play, which are just the bass notes of the rhythm guitars chords....in other styles the bass keeps the beat just as efficiently as drums, so yes, a lot more notes. I guess its just what you want to play

Bass is easy to learn, difficult to master, if you have been playing guitar for that long, and you picked up a bass, if you were one of those just play fast and sound heavy guitarist then you may need to work on your technique and other such things like rythm and place in a band. But if your a very dedicated to the book guitarist then it will make the essencial opening to bass a hell of alot easier. But it is a world of it's own, I love blues, funk and jazz, but i play rock and metal, peace out!

YOU are a bass player dude. You have great groove and great tone. You're into real, groovin', rockin' music, and you're playing a 5 string, but not over using the B string. I also like that you're not slapping the shit out of the bass like everyone seems to think bass playing is about these days, but you just use it as an accent.
